| Skip ...with corrections Skip was I was getting at is that no one should make excuses for a loss that hasn't even happened. Nadal has said himself he will do his best and that is what he will do. He is a professional and does what he has to. I dont want to sound like a teacher but sounds as though people (meaning the crtics out ther) are going back to the Hewitt syndrome where excuses are made whenever...Please dont put nadal in that catagory.Let hinm speak for himself |

| "Skip I find that extraordinary coming from you." Geoff, I will always back Nadal over Federer and the plain fact is that Federer will be quite a lot more rested than Nadal. I am not the only one who thinks so, several tennis players have also voiced their opinion regarding the amount of rest days for finalists between SF and Finals.... Have a read of some of the many articles posted on various websites (ESPN, SI, Tennis.com, USAToday, Tennisweek) regarding this final and you will find the most common theme is the fatigue Nadal is surely suffering from, compared to Federer, going into this final. There is an almost unamimous decision that this is what will win Federer the match more than anything else. Federer is one of my favourite players and he plays tennis like it is an art form. But before anyone starts giving him GOAT status, remember that he is yet to win the French Open and that there is still one player he does not own mentally. I would think all the Federer fans would be quite pleased that he is at an advantage going into this match. I know that when Federer was suffering from mono last season, everyone was quick to mention this fact whenever he lost. What did that tell his opponents then? That they weren't the best player of the match? That they only won because Federer was feeling poorly? Nobody dismissed Federer's mono so don't dismiss Nadal's fatigue. And while he may have a great team about him getting him back into shape, it still doesn't change the fact that he has had LESS time to recuperate than Federer. |

| hello dear lady, yeah you could say that final was a debacle. But you also need to remember that there were other memorable matches in the womens side earlier in the tournament. Sadly I don't see/hear many on the messageboard giving credit where credit's due. Ms Serena Williams is a deserved champion and has set a new benchmark with her improved fitness. The onus now is on the others to match it. |
