| There is a nice little article in the October issue of Australian Tennis Magazine on Djokovic. It says that while the media love him for his personality, impersonations and being able to show his family court side, most of the players don't like his antics. The writer brings up the US Open antics which caused comment by Roddick and Robredo. It also says there is bad blood between Federer and Djokovic after the Jokers family "dissed" Federer. |

| Just let the matter drop. If you read the post interview from the Joker he and Roddick have spoken privately and the contents of that will remain between them both. They both were at fault |

| Then howcome Novak did not privately contact Roddick or his management and got him to clarify whatever the implications of his comments were about? Going public after the match is indeed unprofessional and Novak will learn from it. Hoping Roger will prevail in the semifinals! |

Whe someone takes a jab and a swipe at what you take as your profession and very seriously indeed and implies that you are a "cheat" and then generates this with stupid remarks such as Roddick did,(in his home turf as well...tough guy!!!) I think that is unprofessional and foolish. (Taking in mind those endless raquets Roddick's smashed on court -foolish as well)
Novak did not remark in a way that made him look like a :princess.
Where does that add up, Andy being a smarty pants...ha ha and Novak stating that is was not necessary....booooooooo What the????
Roddick is known for his snipe remarks and insighted a situation which he knew full well what he was saying. Those comments he made were not a joke, and yes these comments would of infuriated many others and yes Novak had every right & the courage to state that the implications were not necessary. |

| Djokovic would be the favourite against Roger as Federer was less than impressive in the quarters. I hope i'm wrong though. |

This response to a reader question from John Wertheim over at Sports Illustrated:
There's no question that Djokovic is being hazed a bit. I feel as though he is the new, co.cky freshman and pledge brothers are still breaking him in. At some level this is a form of flattery. If he's a non-threatening player, I suspect he doesn't trigger nearly as much dislike. On the other hand, Djokovic has done plenty to bring it on himself. He mocked Nadal with his impressions. His folks -- who, frankly, are part of the problem -- trash Federer. Andy Roddick and Tommy Robredo made a few jabs about his propensity to exaggerate injury. Other players have mentioned gamesmanship, particularly with respect to the prolonged pre-service bouncing. There's been a lot of mutual respect on the ATP lately. (Heck, if Andy Murray and Juan Martin del Potro made up!) The tension Djokovic has created adds a layer of intrigue. Be interesting to see how this plays out at fraternity Alpha Tau Phi (ATP). |

Perhaps Djokovic's spicy outburst was not just related to Roddicks's
comments but also the various New York fans who were heckling Novak during the later stages in the fourth set, particularly as
Novak was about to serve. Whether Andy was serious or joking with his off-court comments, it's an inexcusable move for the Jokerman to launch a public attack. He will probably have the crowds against him tomorrow versus Federer and also in the final versus Nadal as a result. |

| Andy gifted him the match. For God's sake Novak won the match,he didn't have to berate A-Rod in front of an American audience.U.S Open crowds have a long memory ,he is dead meat.I hope Murray wins it. |

| Well said sixxrockshow. Everyone just wants Novak to stop pulling out all the stops he does to win a game. May the better player win on the day. Djokovic was today. But the fairer player. He didn't seem to be taking all those stops today. Maybe he gets the vote for fairest player too. But not his quarter final. That was a disgrace. |

You guys are all an absolute joke. Give me Novak Djokovic any day,he's only 21 years old and has done a fantastic job and is a challenging player - give me some personality to the court for a change instead of the "bore me to tears" Roger F. Andy Roddick is a loud mouth struggling to win and so opens his mouth to get some publicity. Give me the passion, so what if Novak retaliated on Andy's comments, who wouldn't of, Andy's like a 7 year old that dropped his ice-cream on the dirt.
It was a great match and am so glad that Novak showed him who the greater player was. Open your mouth now Andy??? |

| He had the crowd behind him last year ZB. Now they've woken up to what he's really like. They booed him off the court. What an embarassment. |

Skip, you indeed are great in finding these pearls. Thank you for this latest one. Some of my faves from that Roddick interview:
Q. Do you get the sense right now that he is...
ANDY RODDICK: Bird flu.
Q. He's got pretty long list of illness.
ANDY RODDICK: Anthrax. SARS. Common cough and cold.
Always find it interesting, particularly with the recent long matches for most of the men's draw that the only wimp among it all was Djerk. Federer / Andreev in a tight, tense match, yet no one took time out, called for trainers etc. They held their nerve and got on with it.
Same with Rafa / Querrey; Del Potro / Murray; Muller / The other guy.
I know how bad the nerves can get on a court when a match is tight, how weak and shaky the arms get etc. however it is a test of strength and character to get on with it. Clearly Djerk doesn't have it. Faux contender indeed. |

Yeah, I got that double meaning as well.
Maybe he's getting the hint now - next question after that:
Q. I know. This year you mentioned they were in favor of Robredo? Does that surprise you? And why do you think that is?
NOVAK DJOKOVIC: I don't know. I felt that, but it's -- I can't really affect on that too much. Maybe they didn't like the way I throw the racquet in one point, so I don't know. I just really don't know. Maybe they don't like me anymore.
'maybe they don't like me anymore' - oh, woe is me!
Tell you what Novak, highly possible you're going to be playing Andy Roddick and I think you'll be feeling even less crowd love during that match. Try not to let it 'affect you' now.... |
