| hahahahaha.....Love him or hate him ,I suppose its good to have him on the tours just to see what other stupid comments he'll make next!!!!! It's a shame though that McEnroe wasnt around today though ,we'd have one guy taking medical time outs "in order to help him win" and at the other side we'd have the Brat screaming at the umps and having a "tantie" about the calls and the other guys tactics it would have been very entertaining! :P |

| Just saw there was another retirement in a match involving Djokovic. Surprisingly though it was the other player. Maybe if Tursunov had of stayed out there a couple more games, Novak would have retired. |

Wonder what Monfils would think of this quote from Novak Djokovic? (Remember US Open 2005)
"I don't like how I have got a reputation as a guy who asked for medical timeouts to intimidate opponents," he said. "It's not me trying to provoke my opponent. It's me trying to win."
That comment could be interpreted in a number of ways and not all favourable to Djokovic.

Well, it appears that the Djokovic family has now expanded their business to include tennis tournaments.
Hmm, methings Marko D. will be 100% sure of getting a WC into this tourney...
From Tennis.com
The Djokovic family has completed a deal to buy Amersfoort and plans to move the event to Belgrade.
Tournament director Hans Felius told Bloomberg that the event had to be sold after struggling to find sponsors. "After our main sponsor dropped out at the beginning of the year, our backs were against the wall," he said.
Novak Djokovic has said in the past that he would like to see a tournament established in Serbia to reflect the burgeoning popularity of tennis in the country. |

Clearly Novak is not feeling the love lately - hasn't won a title since May, suffered a bad case of the 'verbal trots' during that unfortunate on-court interview after his match with Andy R. at the USO (note to Novak - what were you thinking? That was New York, not Belgrade!), Daddy-O piped up last week about the DC (seriously Srjdan, scared your boy can't take it?). Just to borrow the words of Roger here folks, 'keep quiet'
I find this comment from the article may be quite apt
"Broadly speaking, it appears there are two major road blocks to Djokovic winning his share of titles on the tour: Physical endurance and the dying need to be loved and adored."

| ZB why do you drop to such a low level with the other(s) and put these comments in here that have got nothing to do with tennis whatsoever. I have a look at your last comment in Countdown to Shanghai and its purely related to "tennis". |

At least www.justin.tv gave us the match. |

Actually the "rigged" comments ring very loudly of everyone's former favourite nutbag, Damir Dokic and the fiasco after Jelena drew Lindsay Davenport (at the time #1) in the first round of the Australian Open.
If the DC cup and GS draws are rigged, then Roger has a case about the fact that Rafa is even allowed to play the French Open. |

If the outline in the following post is true, then I really would not be surprised. Seems to be the Djokovic way in wanting success at the top by exerting the least amount of effort. Isn't part of the the challenge of achievement and winning (most of the time) about being able to beat either tough opposition, or the best opposition?

G, I suppose when you don't have either of the top two players in the world at the event, as an organ.iser, you take what you can get. If the case is #3 then you'd do whatever you could do to ensure that a top ranked player shows up. Nothing like a dog of a tournament with barely any of the top 10 there.
Don't envy the situation at hand though for the organi.sers...and also not really a good way to start one's ATP "career" by getting in on the back of big brother. A waste of a wildcard and so much for any local talent that may have won other challenger or whatever tournies to be in with a chance for one...
Looks like Nieminen did a 6-2, 6-0 route of Marko in rnd 1 in 47 minutes. Yep, shows the Djokovic guts there in that loss and that there is one small fry very out of his depth right now. What a waste of a WC.
On looking at his profile, of the four tournies he played this year (including the China Open), he has one just the one match and lost every other in straight sets. His ranking is also slipping this year rather than improving. Make the reality of the WC situation that much sadder and uglier.

Bernie, I think what you are referring to by the YouTube clip is this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2GUpbNKSWs from "that" Monte Carlo match earlier this year where Djoker retired from his sore throat. Ball was questionable, Djerks folks piped up suggesting the ball was good / or that they were not happy with the call and Fed told them to "Be quiet".
Point was replayed. Sadly, none of the people who posted this clip added the replayed point. One of the best of the match in brevity and agression. Djerk one the point with a ripping shot; Roger gave him a lesson in tennis. |

I posted this in the "countdown to Shanghai" thread but guess it should be here
Will the Djokovic Family machine stop at nothing. Just how Marko got into the Bangkok events is beyond belief. He is ranked 1734 in the world. Played one futures event in 2007 and 3 in 2008 all played in Serbia.
" The 17-year-old Djokovic junior gained entry as a wildcard thanks to the pull of his elder brother, the top seed playing the event for only the second time.
It was the first ATP-level match for the youngster, more famously known for cheering his sibling on in the family box at grand slams"
One can just imagine the pressure put on the organ.isers...."have me you have to have my brother as well" A publicity gimic they swollowed. I can only be left to imagine they tried the same game with Vienna, an event Djokovic should have been playing as as defending champion, and they wouldn't accept it. By not defending even IF he wins he will loose ranking points.
To think that a player with no experience is given a wild card, and a wasted one at that, over many players much higher in the rankings. It doen't say much at all. Out first round in singles and doubles |

There's a link on youtube beary. Someone has put it on here but it was ages ago. Federer was playing Djokovic and Roger was at the end where Novak's family were in their box. They were saying things during the points while Federer and Djokovic were playing to put Roger off. At the end of one of the points, you can clearly hear Federer tell them "Would you just shut up!".
Not something Roger would do very often. It didn't change the result. Federer still beat him. |
