| If he loses tonight he will be 5045 If he wins he will be 5290. ans Yes if he had won the Tsonga match he would have been ahead of Federer and been #2. Now he has the prospect of prtection masses of points |

I'll have to disagree with you there Geoff.
Djokovic just switched off in the 3rd set - he knew he was already through to the SF so probably wanted to conserve his energy. I saw a ton of balls whiz past him that he could have got but didn't even attempt to return. He seemed to be in a hurry to get it over and done with and was off the court at warp speed.
I'm not saying Tsonga didn't play well but he didn't 'outplay' Djokovic - it was more Djokovic had 'left' the court and was waiting for his body to follow. He was completely disinterested. |

Imwatched the match SKip. The second set gave us some great tennis from both players
Tosonga was the better player and more controlled. That last break told all on Djkpovic's face. I dont think he threw the last set he was just outplayed by tsonga who now has won their last three encounters. You could almost see these thoughts ticking away in that head.
As for know that if he had won and RF lose today, I dont think he had any idea. If he had he would have tried harder but the stornger man came through |

Found this blog
http://cowbell.typepad.com/forty_deuce/2008/11/is- nole-mental.html
It says "But as people noted yesterday, if Nole ran the table here and Roger lost today, he would finish the year at #2. Did he not know this? Did his team not tell him? Or did he know and simply not care?"
Is this for real? Could Roger have lost his #2 ranking in Shanghai? |

Ah, found an explanation
"Djokovic said: "I got this mask at dinner (three years ago). I asked them, Can I take it? They allowed me to take it. The next day I say for fun I'm going to get into the court like that. I did. That's a little tradition I have with the mask at Halloween."
Seems like he has a good sense of humour |

| McEnroe also kept sawdust in his pocket. Recall a match in U.S. Open 1983 where some heckler gave John the sh.ts, he walked towards him then threw a handful of it onto his face!! |

| Not just MacEnroe - on hardcourts it was dangerous - easy to slip on - as I mentioned earlier they used to get the balboys to sweep it up at change of end. |

"I personally think that Macca was the most exciting tennis player I have ever seen."
I totally agree with you there Zed. Not only was Mac an exciting player to watch, I also think he was the most naturally gifted tennis player of his era. He still plays a pretty mean game of tennis on the seniors tour.
I watched a match a while ago in the world team tennis that Mac played. He questioned line calls on about 7 occasions and on each one he was proven correct with the hawkeye system. Does make you stop and think about how many times he was right when he argued the point in his heyday. |

| It was to absorb perspiration - a real headache for officials - they had a "sweeper" who had to clean it up at change of ends on the hard courts because of the danger of slipping. Don't know how well it worked but it annoyed the heck out of some of his opponents. |

Would it ever. I'd love to have seen these 2 play each other. Superbrat wouldn't tolerate it for to long. He'd come over and whack Djokovic with his racquet if Novak kept taking time outs.
If his family in their box kept making comments, McEnroe would climb up their and give them a piece of his mind. What a match that would be. |
