""Yes, Hall was provoked. So what? The AFL has set a precedent with incidents such as this in the past, and this one should be treated no differently.""
------------------------- ------------------------- ----

My earlier post emphasised that Hall's actions couldn't be condoned, but all I would like to see is tha AFL investigate ways and means to penalise "taggers" if they commit wilful harm whilst niggling their opponents. After all, it is a form of cheating to attack someone off the ball.

""Bazza is going to out for 4-6 weeks with his wrist,so the his suspension should start when he is fit to play not while he is out injured""
------------------------- ------------------------- ----

If the injury was sustained whilst committing the offence that would be a just sentence sscno9, but as the two were unrelated I don't see how the tribunal would consider it.

The first time I saw it I said 10 weeks, and I still think the same thing. In fact, I see ten weeks as a minimum.

Yes, Hall was provoked. So what? The AFL has set a precedent with incidents such as this in the past, and this one should be treated no differently.

Re:barry hall suspension Reply to this message
Hall should be suspended for many weeks, if not the whole season, but (and I offer this as no excuse for his actions, but quite possibly a reason) just look at those closely marked players such as Hall and see exactly what provocation they get, including hitting and grabbing the groin, pinching arms and backs, knees and elbows, etc, all of which happen whilst umpires and TV cameras are following the ball many metres away.
The man Hall flattened immediately after dropping Staker has given Michael O'Loughlin the treatment often in the past.
Finally, if Anthony Mundine could hit like that we might consider him to be a genuine fighter. Just a thought.

Re:barry hall suspension Reply to this message
they will probably put him out of the game for 8 weeks, just enough time for him to recover from his broken wrist
