Re:Hall, Swan or Goose!? Reply to this message
That was a very difficult thing to say for someone so loyal GT, nearly as alarming as me buying a Bennymond membership and all credit to you mate. Loyalty is something to truly respect. "If you leave me as I am, I will not change!" Those were the words of a serial drunk who caused a massive Petroleum Plant Explosion, killing, injuring and polluting. That so many people were aware of his transgressions did not downgrade his responsibilty but was even more condemning of those who loved, cared and called him friend to allow the tragedy to run full course.
I am alarmed that he now commands large fees wandering around making public confessions of his guilt, but, if his rehabilitation and "public" remorse means someone is stopped from self and others destruct, that is something.

Whilst the media and supporters laud his less serious misdemeanours, he will remain a kid with matches and a box of matches playing in the traffic at peak hour.

How did you go on the weekend Al, I got back OK, knee is tender, but not as bad as a month ago, that's positive.

Dunno if the club will gave Bazz time on the side and I certainly hope they don't ... have kept him in my DT & SC teams.

Shape up Bazz or as the fans are now saying ... ship out.

I feel the Swans themselves might give him time out for a while but nye dont forget you had the biggest thug of all in Brereton but it seems you and nik have clean erased that from your minds.

Thanks for the 4 points Hall!

I cannot believe he lost the plot like that, again, and took any momentum the Swans had! I think the man needs to seriously think about his playing future, or Roos needs to make the call for him!

I can just see another 'incident' on the horizon, that boy aint right!

What a shame a game like that had to be tarnished by one incident, instead of talking about how gutsy the Hawks were, or how talented Goodes is, the press is all about Hall.

I know it is a regurgitation of an old issue, but, I did raise the question sincerely after his "Tanties" cost Swans a couple of tight results...
This latest departure has been brewing, at least since that game against the West Coast in Sydney. He was right on the edge then and in fact, if the Umps had any spine they would have given him due winning by penalising some of his transgressions then. To top it off, the media gushed like he was some action movie hero.
Barry is a victim of the "Legend in his own Lunch Box syndrome" and, that he believes the myth and spin that abounds about his "prescence"
Shame really, a waste of talent not unprecedented, but, Swans, as I had said, will need to measure up the worth, vs the cost really!

He adds enough colour to take the best defender.

In MY opinion Bazz adds colour, if he doesn't in yours then that's fine ...

8 weeks for a SWING ... 7 from the AFL and 1 from the club. Most expensive SWING in AFL history.

I do agree - "Toughness on a football field is putting your head over the footy, not your fist across a blokes jaw when he isnt looking."

Its a football game not a boxing ring Gt.

7 weeks for a king hit when a bloke wasnt looking was pretty soft in my opinion. He got off light. What colour does he add to the game?

Asking a lot for a Pro Champ to go at it with a Pro footy player but glad you care to put 'em both in the same sentence.

A bit of biff is good for the soul ... Bazz adds colour to the game and I'm all for that.

7 weeks for a swing I thought was a bit rough but he took it on the chin, confronted all like a man so should be given some credit for his big shoulders ... no excuse for the brain explosion.

Bazz to kick ane even 50 in 09.

Re:Hall, Swan or Goose!? Reply to this message
Well, I admit I am ambivalent about this, his stats, including recently, are better than I suspected. As for being a "Goose", he certainly is when it comes to "B" Grade acting, Doh, who me!!?? PMSL, no Baz, that bloke behind you in the 3rd row. At least Big Nick pulled those in a pack!
I guess Swans will look to the nett benefit as opposed to the "Spin", but, I guess if they believe in a City where RL is King, they are overlooking something, perhaps if Swans appeared in a Wii Game, and let's not go Golden Showers here please, the Mardi Gras is suss enough as it is! They may just recapture some imgination.
The claims that Ben Cousins is a "Goose" may well have substantial grounds to support the view, but, the knock on effect will certainly bring "Golden Rain" at Richmond in sponsors vying over "Branding" Patches on the Players Strip, ($800K reportedly!!)the screening at Qtr time huddles etc. and just generally the Media hype. The increased Interstate Memberships and Intrastate Memberships, packaging of Finals Tickets etc. will easily cover the cost of recruiting.
I don't think Baz does it in that regard! Now, if he was game enough to go an Exhibition against "The Man", that may swing some Green, fighting Mundine! I had a lot of time for his Old Man...Tony Sr. But, I guess Bazz prefers King Hits, as you say, he's pretty good at that!

Re:Hall, Swan or Goose!? Reply to this message
WELL, he's certainly got Staker and Hunter on the back foot.

Hall is a Premiership Captain, something that many in the game don't even come close. Not defending his outbursts but his career ain't over yet and anything is possible, just look at the Tigers and Cuzz.

The game is waaaaaay to soft and sterile these days ... bring back the biff and one in all in for mine.

Hall, Swan or Goose!? Reply to this message
Your call really. I know my thoughts, and that was when he was at St's. Or was that Broadford, can't remember really, convenient Alzheimers!
Over his Career averaged 2.4 goals per game.
2008 = 2.7
2007 = 2.2
2005 = 3
2002 - 2008; At Sydney, has averaged 2.9 / game, so, in that sense he has performed better than I believed in my prejudice. Likely because his antics at times have hurt the Swans wrt a result.

His value as a focal point and, his more recent emulation of the Richo initiative has seen him often be more productive. Unfortunately he polarizes opinions because he plays the "Goose" at times. B Grade acting aside, he does often add a dimension to the Swan's structure and commands a good key defender because of his strength. He really doesn't need another steroid like brain explosion!
