Apparently you weren't watching the game at all.

Just saw the match review panels findings. Nothing about Barry Hall's high hit on Dal Santo? That was the case they were saying at the start of the season they were cracking down on and would be giving almost automatic suspensions on. Where did that rule stop?

Just realised that you're also the one blaming the umpiring for the draw against the Bullies too! Must be a huge conspiracy!

Half of Sydney's goals came from incorrect umpiring decisions? Yeah, we were watching different games.

It was bad both ways, but St Kilda clearly had the rough end of the pineapple. There were some that were called against St Kilda and not Sydney, and some that just weren't called at all.

You can't honestly say that you saw the match and thought that the decisions were even. Only a one-eyed fool would think that. There was about 6 goals for Sydney that resulted from a clear incorrect decision from the umpire, opposed to about 3 for the Saints.

Maybe not the major reason the Saints lost, but a clear factor.

C'mon chalkstar, make up your mind. First your complaint is that "the amount that they called for Sydney (and how obviously it wasn't an infringement)..when the same thing happened for St Kilda it went unwhistled", and then you turn around the next day and say "Im not saying that their wasn't bad calls both ways. What I am saying is the amount of obvious calls that weren't made correctly."

So which is it? All I know is the umpires don't try to get it wrong...except for maybe one well-publicised incident last year...

The umpires, and their boss would look at some of the football and be ashamed. Such incidents where Dal Santo got the ball and was immediately tackled to the ground. Barry Hall charged in with an elbow and got him in the head causing the ball to drop loose and for him to be stunned for half a second.
The end result was the umpire called holding the ball. Those sorts of decisions are deplorable and just shouldn't happen at this level.

how you can argue that St Kilda were hard done by last night I dont know! I was at the game and am a Swans fan, but I thought overall both teams got some bad calls go against them and some fortunately go their way. In the end I think overall it evened itself out and probably (not by much) the better team won on the night. Mcclaren though is a terrible umpire- he is lucky to get 1 out of 10 calls right. Should retire at once and go play lawn bowls or something!

I watched the match. I saw Lenny Hayes kick a goal from a dubious 50m free. And I saw just as many apparent free kicks ignored for both teams.

I can admit I thought Craig Bolton was a little fortunate at times with Fraser, but overall had far the better of that contest. I also don't think the umpires had undue effect on the result of the match.

whatsdoing,

You can't just look at a count and determine how appropriate it is. Its the amount that they called for Sydney (and how obviously it wasn't an infringement) but when the same thing happened for St Kilda it went unwhistled.

Did you even watch the match or just look at the stats and determine the umpires performance based on the numbers and not the match?

You know, Saints actually won the free kick count last night. And Sydney have had the most free kicks against them of any side in the comp this season.

Umpire McLaren ... ha ha haaaaaaaaaa.

Now we can't get fined for saying it how it is so ..... he's a joke and needs to hang up his tarnished whistle.

What a white maggot !

Re:Time to say something? Reply to this message
If you lead out like he does and get even a slight infringement (push in the back, hands in the back, chopping of the arms) it will always be called.

It evens out but you generally see trends that give teams like West Coast an easy runs more often then not, Sydney have had their share of free's against so it evened out tonight for them.

Does talking about umpires performance have an effect on the umpires who have your next match. Yes, at least for some umpires. McLaren comes to mind instantly. If he likes you and you say something bad he gives you a free easy ones, if he hates you then you're in for a long day/night.

Is it time that Ross Lyon or Rod Buterrss says something about the umpiring? They have been on the recieving end of two or three really bad games in the past month, and potentially have been knocked out of finals contention with it.

Paul Roos did it early this week and didn't get any punishment so the coast seems to be clear to question umpiring again.
