They've had their fair share of off-field indiscretion but so has every club.
As for the board, they should probably start fresh but Rod has done quite a bit for the club to make them successful as a club (off field). I think its time for him to go, as for most of the board but its not due to happenings off the field or on the field for that matter. Its just their time. |

It is indeed a pity that there are still some clubs in the AFL who have a problem with the behaviour of their players and it gets down to club culture.
West Coast, Freo, Collingwood and The Saints spring to mind as 4 examples of the type of club mentality that should be eradicated from this professional era in football.
St Kilda in particular have had behavioural problems since the days of Alan Killigrew. Muir, O'Dea, Lawrence, Morrow, Lockett, Hall the list goes on. When Lockett and Hall moved to Sydney they became better examples of good tough footballers, sure they got into a bit of strife occasionally but by and large were/are good examples of fair tough players.
It's hard to change the culture of a club overnight but St Kilda need to start and perhaps the first step would be to rid themselves of the current committee including the President, and try to establish a culture more in line with the great Robert Harvey and less with some of the characters, playing and non playing, currently ruling the roost at Moorabin |
