The signs were there earlier on in the season I'm afraid..
So the result yesterday came as no suprise..to me..
Yeah there's a mathematical chance that they could still make it..but...they also need to improve..
But let's not take anything away from the Jets..who at times played some good football..are now upto third plce..
The victory at one stage of the game had all there attacking options on the park and still didn't look like coming close...Archie tried in vain but even he didn't look likely...I'm at a loss here...again on paper the victory look a stronger side this year but have been outplayed this year by teams...had they become to predictable...it has been a disapointing year..which hasn't finished...the truth is..they could very well slip further down the ladder..if anyone's seen the next few weeks and the teams they play i.e roar, sydney..
And if that's something to think about they also need to prepare for the asian club championships..
It's going to be interesting with what happens in the off season with the club... |

Carn the Victory...
Here's hoping a good sized crowd turns up for the game against the Jets..
Victory's season rides on this game..and Newcastle have had the wood over them for a little while now!!
The new socceroos coach is going to be in the stand and there would be no better time to step up and show ya goods than now..for any of the players on either side..
There's been some good football played this weekend...
But this has not been consistant over the season..which shiites me..at times the standard of football has been amatuerish and that is being nice...to physical and maybe a little to quick!! I remember someone saying (can't remember who) that the difference with the state leagues and the a-league is the pace in which the games are played...let's forget about the bloody pace and concentrate on the quality of football...I think coaches need to take some responsability in this...A good balance is required..between the physical, pace and technique in the games.. |

Yeah, it's been messy this year for sure!!
I read today that Brebnar and Allsopp will be out of the game this weekend against Newcastle..it's gonna be a tough game with both teams playing for positions in the top four...
big to be honest with you we did well last year with fred but it's a team game this thing and i gotta say that on paper we look the better side this year..for some reason or another it just hasn't happened for us this year..thats football..in saying that there is a slim chance we could still make the top four..we'll see how it goes..
You know I've got to say that I was disappointed to read that some are calling for the sacking of Ernie Merrick..I strongly disagree with this..ludicrious in fact!!
I personally believe that a number of other factors have resulted in our less than impressive performances this year i.e injuries, new players adapting to the game..and there are others...I'd say that another factor in here is that the other teams have improved... |

The victory...mmmmm..is it time to pull up and take stock on the season that could've, should've been...no not just yet..but I feel that time is not to far off!! Nick Wards inclusion into the team cannot come any sooner..but how good is he and is he going to make much of a difference..mmmm..we will see..an attacking midfielder is not the only issue that victory have to look at..
There seems to be other issues at hand down at victory land...with crowd numbers down...how much is this due to the issues at telstra stadium with the seating arrangements...I do not know the intricacies here so I won't rattle on like nobody's listening..but surely things can be worked out here...for all involved..
Does anyone know what's going on, with the issues at the stadium? |

Terrific game...from both sides..And the victory were lucky to escape...and adelaide move to second..for the time being..as central coast and the roar are still to play.
Victory are still five points out of the four and results have to go there way for them to make the play offs..they also have to win games..
They seem to labour last night with out any real results, which has been the story all season..but folks lets look ahead and be positive...melbourne are still in with a fighting chance...
I was really was impressed with Paul Agostino last night...he has been around for a while hasn't he.. but great stuff..adelaide are looking good as we come into the back end of the season..
Looking forward to todays clash...(: |

| Adealide are strong up front with Ago, Burns and Djite but are missing Valk.a.n.i.s and now for a third week Cost.a.n.z.o. Whilst Susak and Erdogan have filled admirably they are not in the same class. Hopefully the return of Cassio at left back will help things, but with both Spags and Petta missing on the left Adelaide will take a right sided midfielder. It looks like Allslop (no not misspelled) and Brebner could be out with Pantelidis so one on each line could havbe an unsettling effect for Melbourne. Muscat will not find it so easy against Salley as he did with Aloisi in previous seasons as Salley is smarter and can tackle with venom like Muscat does. This is the first time back to the place of demolition for Adelaide. There are only 4 players from that team involved Saturday night for Adelaide but will it play on the team as a whole? A game worth watching. |

It's been reported that Victory have signed young gun Nick Ward..an attacking midfielder, this signing will hopefully give a boost to the victory and there hopes of making the finals this year..Nick has signed upto May next year..staying around for the asian club championships..
Adelaide are going to be a tough game for the victory this weekend..but the victory cannot afford to lose..the fat lady hasn't started singing but she is certainly warming up..
Here's hoping a good crowd turns up and cheers the victory on..
Another big clash this weekend is the top of the table game game between the Mariners and the Roar...Friday night..goooood stuff.. |

sydney will go close this year but they have 2wins 3draws since kossie took ova with a game in hand after they postponed
the game with the mariners which still leaves 4 points outside the finals if they are to win the comp they cant afford to many more draws |

Mate ill eat all the pie u dish out if we win this comp.
I am yet to be totally convinced. Yes, we are unbeaten, but i dont think our football is that much better. U wanna talk about people turning us around, look at bridges. Doesnt spend a lot of time on the park, but he is prvoing a great buy. Providing brosquey with the support that he needs. I know they say a good coach is one who gets the best out of his players, and i think kossie is starting to do that, but until we achieve consistent, top line displays capable and worthy of another championship, i will not eat Kossie's pie.
Anyway, how are ya errol? |

| Told you bigmp. Kossie has now been Sydneys coach for a few weeks now.And they are winning. Knock his behaviour as much as you like but he is now showing hos coaching ability. Had a lot of time for Culina though and thought he could get the job done. Obviously Kemenys closeness to Kossie helped him get the job but those who knocked him are now eating humble pie. How does it taste big? lol |

| All this season has proved is that Fred was by far melbourne's best player; absoultely central to their success. And also that Allsop is utter shyte without the ball beng spoon fed to him. |

kinger, I agree with you somewhat. It is best to let the ball do all the work, but your receipt is only as good as your supply, the way the Victory are playing this year, their passing game isn't the best (lot of long balls lately), and Archie has to do a bit of running to receive the ball. And Allsop isnt helping him much sitting centrally most of the time not bothering with any straight, diagonal or sideways runs forward or back. For mine Allsop hasnt worked hard enough this year.
They really miss Fred no matter what they say. Hernandez isn't half the player he was yet Victory don't want to recognise that fact. |

| guze - maybe Archie does too much running and should be letting the ball do the work (just an opinion) |

crab - I didn't see the game and only saw the result on the news this morning!
I think with Mitchell taking over it has given the boys a new lease of life!
Regarding the crowds, it is a hard one! Glory were the trendsetters back in the old NSL days getting about 10-16K per game and when it came to finals they had to move the games to Subi Oval. I don't know exactly where it has gone wrong. I think part of the blame can put on Tana who did wonders when he took over the Glory but once he decided to sell the team he did nothing more for it (from an outside view), they came across stagment during the break between NSL and A League and I don't think their recruiting had been up to where it was expected. I also think FFA/A League could take a bit of the blame as there is no real advertising so you don't know there is a game on.
I have heard talk that the games at the beginning of the seasons clash with the amateur leagues and so forth which stops people from attending but you would think that once the amateur season finishes the crowds would then pick up!
who knows with more success and frequently the crowds could head back to the former glory days! |

| Is it just me or does Allsop just sit there and do minimal while Thompson is running doggies from flank to flank. Reckon they should start Love up front instead of Allsop to change things around. I like Love's pace and dribbling ability, much more so than Allsop's attitude at the moment. |

Kinger..to be honest it's the best I have seen Perth play and a bloody great effort at that!
Victory played shiite and thats not taking anything away from Perth..as I believe that victory were outplayed in all facets of the game..
Victory don't look likely this year and they haven't since the start of the season..they just didn't have anything to offer throughout the game..other than Adrian Caceras's wonder strike it was a bland effort...
To be honest I can't see the victory making the finals and I know that's a big call...but they just are not offering anything at the moment to suggest otherwise..
In saying that I really do want to sing the praises of Sydney...who at every corner and challenge have impressed me!! I certainly believe that if they were beaten by the same amount that they beat LA Galaxy the other night there would have been no mention of a future tournament..I could be wrong and maybe it had been in the pipelines for some time...but gee good on ya boys in any case..
On a last note the crowds were disapointing at Perth...but here's hoping the word get's out that the boys are playing good football..and with a few games left stand every chance of making the finals...mmmmm..come to think of it..the crowds are down from last year with the victory as well...I know they have the biggest turn outs in the competition but just a small point to make.. |

I know kinger...I know...
Look..Kevin is such an important player to the team..and I guess that is why I am so frustrated in his antics..but looking at the press in recent days I don't think he needs another clip behind the ears..
I can't believe we only have about 7 or 8 games to go until the business end of the season starts...
The Victory have got to get some wins on the board if they are to make the finals..and those wins are not going to come easy...and you can only say that so often then your time runs out..
What would also be a concern for the victory is there run into the asian club championships...this is why it is important, almost imperative for them to make the top four..
Carn the Victory... |
