A great round of football was played over the weekend and I've got to say that I reckon the standard of football amongst the teams has risen..which is bloody fantastic.
Great crowds turned out for the opening weekends games..
There was talk of boring..with the low scores..but nothing can be further from the truth as far as I'm concerned.
Dodd from Adelaide scores a cracker to put Adelaide at the top of the tree..ole'
The victory played out a tight fought nil all draw in sydney..impressed with the new recruits that have come into the victory squad this year...the engines are running and were off and racing folks!! |

The A-league kicks off this weekend folks and to be honest it couldn't have come sooner!!
All clubs have recruited well and it looks like its going to be a bumper of a season..
The victory play sydney fc this saturday..and I'm tipping the victory to get over the line in this season opener..
Interestingly, I recently read that the victory have signed up 10,500 memberships so far..which is down a fair bit from the previous season (over 20,000)..let's hope that people get back on board..as I reckon this will be there year once again..
Just want the football to start...tick..tick.. |

Yeah Micheal, it will be interesting to see how things go with the memeberships this year!! Geoff Lord came out a while back and said the club is doing all that it can in regard to seating arrangements...there was a noticable drop in attendance once things started to flair with this issue..personally I can't wait until the renovations at olympic park are finished..
The mighty victory took out the pre-season cup..
But I have to say I thought Wellington looked the more comfortable on and off the ball during the game...admittingly victory had a couple of new players in and a couple of them out for this game..but no bloody excuses!! The win should set them up for the season proper..
And good on the phoenix who I reckon are in for a bloody good season..good for the club and the a-league.. |

| Yes Go the Victory but what are they doing selling family passes to the north and south end. It was great to see the nice things the new signings had to say about our crown but the supporters who provide all the atmosphere are getting screwed by the club. |

Victory have signed another Costa Rican to keep Carlos Hernandez company, Jose Luis Lopez has signed for 2 years and is another international that should let us dominate the midfield like we did a couple of years ago.
Go The Victory !! |

| There is no doubt juventus is a huge club in world football crab8_tan but i think the football scandal that hit italian football hit them hardest and i think it will take them another 3-4 years before we see the great juventus club back at the top again. |

| overroared - yeah agree that Lazza got dealt a bad hand .. that drug fiasco was a joke. I believe Glory and Lazza have parted on good terms which is good and am sure Lazza still has something to give to the game off-field |

Crab
Lazza was dealt a bad hand in my opinion, and hopefully he has a top post football playing future to look forward to. Maybe not a legend, but a cracking overlapping player - who gave his all for Australia.
Roar again look to have recruited local talent rather than go for name players, and this policy has served them well in the recent past. Should be interesting to see how Kruse, Meinnecom and Zullo go next year, I'm sure at least one of these youngsters will be sensational in the A league this year.
Interesting times! |

Fella...I am to looking forward to the victory and adelaide game...Djiite is a great talent and I only hope that the move will further develop his game as with Burns also!!
Ney Fabiano is a welcome recruit at victory land..and has made it clear that he hasn't come to warm the substitute bench...all the better for the mighty victory...
I think the victory team this year is looking the strongest yet...
It is sad that things didn't work out for Stan Lazaridis over at perth..but the guy is a dead set legend in football in this country..here's hoping that he continues, in some capacity, his involvement in the game in this country...perth have made some good player purchases in recent times..good results usually mean bum's on seats so here's hoping things go well...
It's shaping up to be a bloody fantastic season.. |

| Adelaide V Melbourne 20 July crab. Vidmar has already been quoted that the focus for Adelaide is the ACL and he doesnt care about the preseason games (getting my excuse in early in case melbourne knock Adelaide off lol)but I wonder what that means in terms of the A League season? Both sides will be coming off limited preseasons due to the ACL so it will be interesting to see how they start the season. As for Adelaide, with Burns and Djite gone they will need Cristiano to quickly come in and be a goal scorer and Agostino will need to stand up fitness wise if he doesn't want to finish his career as a flop. I see Perth have let Lazaridis go so one can only say that was a failure for them. |

The victory are looking good for the next season of the a-league..I'm already looking forward to it..
There are a lot of new signings for the various clubs..
Could be the most exciting season yet!!
Sydney would have to be the favourites at this stage, in my opinion....I know it's a pretty silly call considering no-one has kicked a ball yet!!
I'm only basing it on there signings really...
Here's hoping Perth can get up and be a bit more competitive...and the people start coming through the gates..
There is so much more now to play for..there can be no bigger carrot than that of playing in the asian club championships..for the clubs..
And Go Adelaide United...
I reckon we are in exciting times for football in this country..
The game has never looked healthier...
The girls are doing well, so to are our youngsters..
Credit needs to be paid where it is due..
Ben Buckley and all involved in the administration of the game...and the silent Knight..Frank Lowy..thank you.. |

Crab from what i know, he will re sign, but dont quote me on it. 2nd hand news can sometimes turn out not true.
Also it hasnt been confirmed yet, but rumour has it that Defensive Midfielder Jose Luis Lopez nicknmed " El Puppy" of Saprissa will be joining Victory this month on loan. According to Costa Rican media its been confirmed but we'll just have to wait and see. |

News in that Kaz Patafta has moved to the Newcastle Jets..I've got to say a little bit disapointed..but those are the breaks..this young man is a great talent and I hope the move is a positive one for him...carn the victory.. |
