You know reading the papers..it seems the team and coaching staff are taking this serious..the number of send offs this season....but you know what the jury is still out with me..I mean we have had players getting sent off in the not so distant past and it has cost us....I just don't know about all this sudden sorrow and 'we are sorry' kind of thing...I mean muscat is a fiery bloody fella and he is captain...shiite I don't know!!
Go Adelaide tonight...bloody HUGE!!!!

Crab, you're sitting top, best goal difference and probably worst disciplinary record but I wouldn't worry if you can continually have players missing yet still be competing against sides who have 11 v your 10.

well with Muscat as captain ......... :P

good to see Glory defeated the Bling :)

disappointed with that red card give nto the sydney player in the 3rd minute of injury time not fully sure what it was for but the glory guy went down as if he got struck by a tony lockett elbow - disgrace! games nearly as bad as AFL

Re:"Carn the victory" Reply to this message
There have been a lot of red cards so far this season.

Melbourne have picked up quite a few....they really are hurting themselves big time....but they always turn up ready to play and are tough to beat even when a player short.

Good luck for the rest of the season...

They were to good nkfaau..
I tell ya it's a bloody concern that another player from the victory gets another red card...
Are they even addressing the issue down there at victory land..because one could have a strong argument that all this nonsense could cost victory dearly...

Good Point. Melbourne Victory haven't got such big crowds in the A-league,

------------------------- ------------------------- ------

next - Melbourne consistently are the biggest drawing club in the A-League with average crowds of over 20K and up to 50K for the grand final, what is the point you are trying to make??

Next

You should consult Aces mate (note other thread). First Kewell was never going to play, and 4 - 0 is much more respectable than 2 - 2.

Good game all round to the roos.

Cheers

Good Point. Melbourne Victory haven't got such big crowds in the A-league, but when Australia play we get right behind them, Victory have recently got crowds around 17,000 to 21,000. You watch Australia vs Qatar tonight. It will be a pretty reasonable crowd. I am predicting a 2-2 draw. Predicted goal scorers for Australia: Tim Cahill and Harry Kewell

Re:"Carn the victory" Reply to this message
funny saying all that...... FFA have said that is why Socceroos will only play meaningful games in QLD, Syd and Melb due to there not being any stadiums being big enough.

Bugger!

Re:"Carn the victory" Reply to this message
Right fella

25000 would be a good fit for Adelaide. Suncorp has no parking available (maybe enough for players and coaching staff - but thats it). The stadium is extremely well serviced by public transport, 2 rail stations within 1km, and laid on buses from major suburban shopping centres, 10 minute intervals and dropping off at the stadium front door at a tailor made transit facility.

So the issue is can Adelaide get the people to a 25000 stadium at Hindmarsh, if so political pressure should be applied IMO.

It will be a bloody shame if 10's of thousands of Australians cannot see a ACL final live in Adelaide in my opinion. (if they make it ---- of course)

Best of luck in Tashkent mate.

Cheers

Re:"Carn the victory" Reply to this message
Capacity is 17,000 OR. It has been up to 20,000 when Olympics was here but that was with temporary seating. Structurally they could probably go to 25,000 but issues like parking and maybe even planning issues due to height might come into play. It was only built for local football and there is no room in the area for further development without a huge cost (buying up houses and businesses and getting land rezoned)
Problem with Adelaide is as a city and SA as a state is we are just too small and cannot bring in the tax revenue for the government to be interested in building a purpose built stadium. I think maximum regular attendances for every A League round rather than the average of about 13,000 (remember we are a city of just over a million where Melbourne is about 4.5 mill and Brisbane is nearly 4 mill?) might sway the government a little but we would need some consortium wanting to build a new stadium for it to become reality

Re:"Carn the victory" Reply to this message
fella - yeah loved that decision play home ground advantage instead of making money!

unliek the glory in 2000 who moved their games in the final to Subiaco Oval. Yes they filled it up but did it really help them? (not saying that was why they lost but sitting in the crowd we were miles away from it!) from a specator point of view it is better on a stadium that best suits the game.

Pity the pollies in WA don't see that with regards to the new stadium (although GLory ain't doing much to warrant a 5K stadium :( )

Rightfella

Thought the government had recently upgraded Hindmarsh. The stadium itself looks great - particularly when full, but bit dissapointed with its capacity.

In current economic times I cannot see governments putting much into new stadia.

Is there any way they can upgrade and expand Hindmarsh?

Again - great result last night

There would have been 40,000 there gents if we had the right stadium. Adelaide could have played this at Adelaide oval or AAMI stadium and got 40,000 but did not want to lose home ground advantage. Glad to see they took winning over a business decision.

Re:"Carn the victory" Reply to this message
B.l.o.o.d.y marvellous!!!! Our cut price Brazilians in Diego, Cristiano and Cassio just tore Bunyodkor apart! All started with young Scott Jamieson taking the ball off Rivaldo (who should have a red card and be missing after his studs up challenge on Robert Cornthwaite!), gving it to Cassio for a sublime cross to Diego who just finished brilliantly.
A bit of talk was how Bunyodkor beat the Iranians Saipa 5-1 at home but the Uzbeks also drew 2-2 with the Iranians on their turf too so there is a world of difference in that.
Viddie doesn't play defensively kingerik. But he does have a great defence with Cornthwaite, Costanzo, Ognenovski and Jamieson and unearthed Daniel Mullen, a local Adelaide boy. Others who can play back are last years Oz squad member Michael Va.l.k.a.n.i.s and Brazilian Alameo, Jamo will miss the return which may force Viddie to put Cassio back but former player of the year in Jason Spagnuolo or Lucas Pantelis can slot into the left side midfield spot.

Hopefully Travis Dodd will get involved in more goalfront action in the return leg and run more at their defence. I thought he did that less last night and we didn't pressure tham anywhere as much as we could have. Here comes the final!(crossed fingers)

Re:"Carn the victory" Reply to this message
overroared - I think that Adelaide would hav had 30K if the ground was big enough, I heard during the Telecast that there were NO politicians there i.e State Sports minister Fed. sports Minister etc. c'mon S.A. Gov't get behind football and build a decent stadium ffs
I think they should aim for a Stadium with at least 25K capacity, its the only way that the game will grow!!

Re:"Carn the victory" Reply to this message
Yea well done Adelaide. Rooting for them all the way last night, but beware Saturday week!

The mighty Roar may take em back a peg or two. Oh its a home game - maybe not.

Again AU u represented Aussie football magnificently last night - oh if only it were the Roar - we would have had 40 000 to that game.

Cheers
