It seems more than likely that Fred has played his last game for victory..Kristin Sarkies looks likely to trial with Leeds United in England..And there are still a number of players yet to sign on for next season...
But don't fear my fellow victory comrades because all is well..CARN THE VICTORY..

NOTHING IS FINALISED YET GUYS ABOUT FRED LEAVING THE VICTORY....I GOT THIS ARTICLE FROM THE NET....

Victory quash Fred rumour
by: Jonathan Healy
Sportal

Melbourne Victory has moved quickly to dispel rumours that star striker Fred has left the club to sign with US Major League Soccer outfit DC United.

Despite the Washington Post reporting that Fred had signed a four-year-deal with the club, Melbourne Victory media manager Tony Ising confirmed that at this stage nothing was official.

"As far as the club is concerned there is no confirmation or anything from the club," Ising told Sportal.

"There are plenty of rumours floating about, one to America, one is a Japanese rumour, another is a European rumour, so it sound like his agent is shopping him around the place quite a bit."

The Brazillian-born player enjoyed a successful season with the Victory, scoring four goals and setting up strike partners Archie Thompson and Danny Allsopp on many occasions.

The loss of Fred would make Victory's task of claiming back-to back titles even harder, but Ising said the club would try to hold on to the 27-year-old and insisted that nothing had been finalised.

"Our track record with signings for the last two-and-a-half years is that we won't comment until they are finalised, and I did notice that DC United had said that they are not going to comment either until it is all finalised, if it is ever finalised."

Re:"Carn the victory" Reply to this message
Just read another posting that Fred is leaving the victory to take up playing duties in the USA. His loss is going to be a hearty blow to the victory team. Not only did he perform terrific on the park but also was a great fella around the club...Will this leave an option open for Kristin Sarkies to fill the attacking midfielder role more permanently...I really do hope that they keep a hold of this talented young man as surely he has shown how good is and how good he can be!!
What about the other Brazillian, Alessandro, will he stay or will go, that is the question!! I think in all honesty he could benefit from staying in the a-league..We've all seen he has flare, skill but I think he struggled on the physical aspect of the local game..Plus I think there may have been a little confusion on what role he is supposed to play in games...As I think they may have wanted him to play a more defensive role as opposed to attacking midfielder role..The crowd (yeeaaah thats me to!!) love him.....
I'm still buzzing about the Sydney fc game the other night..Lets not kid ourselves that was a landmark win for club football in this country!! I remember they questioned the opposing coach before the game and he was asked what are looking to expect in the game ( or words to that effect!!)...He said a physical/tough encounter..Well mate, you got that and class because those goals were far out top shelf...It was dissapointing for Adelaide but I thought they did well considering they had some important players missing..And to consider that both sydney and adelaide have had major upheavals in recent times i.e changes of management, player suspension..Awesome effort..
I just want to raise a point here..I know the FFA are looking abroad for a national coach and yeah I have an opinion on that as well but I don't think we are far off having a local coach take the reigns...Presently, I reckon Branko Culina, Ernie Merrick are two stand out coaches at present...locally based!!

All the best to adelaide and sydney who do battle in the asian cup in the next couple of days....
At a home game I had signed a petition for the new stadium to be extended in numbers...The number has been increased to what they initially proposed but I'm not sold on the new proposal..only want whats best for the club in the long term!!

Re:"Carn the victory" Reply to this message
Alan i dont think Victory have signed the deal yet for the new stadium. To be honest, i too dont mind if the victory stayed at the DOME and from what i heard apparently the victory have been given the option with a better deal to stay at the DOME.
Dont know how true that is, but i like the design of the new stadium as well and i like the idea of actually finally having a stadium built in a rectangle shape to also cater for soccer!! but 31,500 seats in my opinion is not enough!!

'I read that Sydney FC are 90% chance of signing Terry Sheringham from West Ham....I think this good for the game in OZ'

-coops1612

I don't. He isn't as good as Yorke, yet he is older and is going to cost more. For what??? A season or two worth of, what might be, quality football. Not worth the risk IMO.

Re:"Carn the victory" Reply to this message
Any opinions on the report in the Paper on Sunday regarding the New Stadium in Melbourne??

The State Gov. has given the Victory an ultimatum of 31,500 seat Stadium if they sign up or 27,500 without the Victory being a part of it.

I would prefer the Victory to stay at the 'Dome but what do others think??

For those who havent heard....Mark Byrnes from Melbourne Victory has been released from the club. Hopefully he'll find a club who will be willing to let him play more games as he did spend more time on the bench this past season than i'm sure he would've liked.

Overroared its all good man...its all about the football. I hope all teams in the league are busy recruiting for next season as it makes for good football..
I'm keeping a sneaky eye on a couple of teams at the moment i.e adelaide, sydney, perth...Its all good.
I'm hoping that new zealand can get there act together...I'm not sure they've got the backing/support locally to carry through..
I reckon Perth could be a surprise packet next year..only early days though (to start predicting)..
In the mean time though watching a lot of premier league (english) football...football tragic I am..LOL...
Hoping Mark Viduka doesn't decide to quit the socceroos any time soon as his form in the premier league of late has been terrific..actually I hope Mark continues through to the next world cup..I'm a big duke fan..carn the victory..

Congrats to Nick Carlse for getting the a-leagues most valuable player award..Now if only the national team coaching staff would take notice...
I think one of the great efforts in the a-league grand final was Grant Brebnars performance...which has often been overlooked..I sure am glad the man is staying on. Courage and determination personified in the face of injury, reminded of glenn archer from the kangaroos football club...

big - thats is where the stats lie! would be interesting to see how many opportunities he would have had in those other 22 games. I think his strike rate from what it says on the A League website is 15 goals from 57 shots and I think there were something like 35 on target.
