| I do agree with you Biggy...The frustrating thing is it halts the progress of play...it shiites me..it really does..In the world cup they struggled to stop this faking and diving to get a free kick/penalty stuff...The question is how do you police it!! Its just not on.. |

They say once u learn to laugh at yourself, life becomes a whole lot funnier.
and crabby, it was merely for the alliteration value associated with it... but that was cheating. Bad sportsmanship is one thing, but to go off on a sretcher then come back 6 seconds later, thats cheating. |

bigmp87, look, I tend to agree with you..to a point..there were some 'shenanigans' going on in the game by Shanghai..most notably there falling over tactics and there were also some disapointing decisions made by officials...
But you know what mate...I find you calling the Shanghai football team 'cheating chin wahs', pretty disgraceful...it was only a game. |

I thought Adelaide looked good last night, so that first half in full, and I like that Djite and Burns. Djite was a handfull all night, made the penalty, hit the bar, and was in the thick of it up front all night. Burns played well in patches, and has enormous potential.
Adelaide were better than sydney, who were on the whole disapointing.
Looks like it will be a big one in japan in 2 weeks though |

Ljubo, the force from behind...(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:
Guys, I watched Sydney play last night against shanghai and I must admit they played some good football in patches...in fact they dominated the game...it was unfortunate about the penalty being misssed because it would have been a just result, to how the game was played...but it shouldn't have been a penalty in the first place....
You know, "the victory", would have made a good showing in this competition..without a doubt...You can only...well of course they would have blinking well shiite it...(weres ya balls son!!!)I think this side they are currently getting up and ready for next season is better than the one in the previous season....As the late big kev would say "I'm excited"....But as we wait and in my case impatiently for the next season...I'm quietly barracking for the blue boys from up north to make a shaking in this AFC Cup...shiite I might even put some money on them....they are a real chance...good for football in this country... |

Crab
How do u think the Victory would have gone in the ACL this year, utilising their strongest squad from last year?
I suspect they may have gone all the way. |

Your right...I got a bit carried away there I think!!Had my hand on it...To back your point up, there were three english clubs through to the semi final stages of the champions league...that says it all I reckon..how far english soccer has come in recent times...probably down to bringing in a lot of imports to.. but is it good enough..the best of italy vs best of england...my guess is it will be the italian team that will win on the night..and I stand by that..there performance the other night was....superior...and there were no excuses for manchester united...they were simply beaten by a better side...AC milan to win against Liverpool...
"Go Sydney tonight".....(: |

Couldnt agree more with u seymour, EPL is much stroger these days, and if trends continue Bundersleaga (spelling I know!) will be stronger than Italian in next few years.
I also agree Dukes is tops, maybe even better in his prime that Kewell. Only problem with Dukes, he switches off too often, so that will go against him in the end.
He would be a great asset to the A League, up against John Aloisi of the Roar, at a packed ou Suncorp.
Hard to say it (choke, cough, splutter) "go Sydney tonight".
Cheers |

".A great example of this "difference" was the game the other night between AC Milan and Manchester United...AC Milan in this game were so technically superior that..wow..great stuff it was.."
I am also a big fan of Viduka, but if you want to choose one game to compare the Premier League with the Italian equivalent, why did you not choose the earlier tie between Man Utd and AS Roma? |

Reading the Age today I read about our new man Keenan..and I'm excited..The ability to attract such players with quality is a credit to victory and the ever increasing stature of the a-league..I believe from what I read of the article victory are looking to play Keenan in Alessandro's role..defense/attacking role..it does put to sleep the idea that Alessandro is sticking around to play the next season....A sad end, if be the case, of the Brazillian trio that came to our shores last season...I applaud victory for being so bold in this move...Carn the victory..
Don't forget that Sydney and Adelaide play there next games in the AFC championships this week..Carn the Victory.. |

It was Andrew Orsati on The World Game (SBS) website that discussed the possability of Viduka making a possable move to the italian league and the pro's and con's of such a move...and this morning I pick up the paper (herald sun) and its mentioned in there that Genoa (italian b league) are looking at him......
Firstly, Mark Viduka is a credit and a friggin legend to the game in this country..Some are saying Harry Kewell is possably our best but I dispute this as I believe Mark is...He has won top player awards in Australia, Croatia, Scotland...His commitment to playing for Australia (country of birth) is...unquestionable and honorable...
I personally hope that Mark carries on until the next world cup..You know how sometimes you feel a little uncool, strange calling one of our own your favourite player and when asked you usually say some guy from overseas, well mines an aussie and its Mark Viduka....
I agree with Andrew and believe it would be great for Mark to try his trade in Italy...Why not!!?...There is no question he is good enough...Genoa are currently vying to get into division one football in italy...there are so many differences in the Premier League and the Italian league..A great example of this "difference" was the game the other night between AC Milan and Manchester United...AC Milan in this game were so technically superior that..wow..great stuff it was...He can move to Genoa but eventually he is going to come home and play for the Victory in his last days..well that would be it I reckon...(sighs)...Carn the Victory... |

| There was an interview in yesterdays Australian with Graham Arnold..I am a fan of Graham Arnolds and his assistant John Kosmina..I believe it should be these two that carry us through to the next world cup..I believe Australia will perform well at the Asian Championships...But how well is enough for Graham Arnold to keep his position as National coach..Are the FFA going to look for a more noted/experienced coach no matter what...What happens if Australia win the championships, surely this will be enough to convince the FFA that Arnold is good enough to take us to the 2010 world cup..we may perform badly or moderatly..I don't know..but to be fair on Arnold the FFA should lay there cards on the table and say what there expectations are...for him to stay in the job!!! |

| Well Sydney's opportunities have just been given a huge boost with Urawa Red's draw at Shanghai. This means there is only one point in it with two more games left and one of them being between the two sides. |

Counting down the days....Pre season kicks off in July..It will be interesting to see how the Phoenix go I reckon...My early money is on Sydney (other than the victory of course!!)..Branco Culina is in charge of the squad this year and I'm expecting big things from Sydney..
The victory are sticking with the Dome which is a good thing..Hopefully they will get the crowds in... |

Gaz, to find out who Langarek was I went to the victory website and the news section on there webpage..
Mitchell Langarek is a goalkeeper. Apparently impressed victory goalkeeping coaches enough for them to ask him to come on board at the victory..He stands at 191cm and grew up in Bundaberg in Queensland..Mitchell went through the AIS (Institute of Sport) and debuted for the young socceroos last year against Argentina...goalkeeping staff at the victory speak very highly of the young man...(: |
