| The word out of Adelaide is Adelaide oval will be redeveloped at a cost of $350 million and will be able to take rugby, AFL and football. There is a rumour that the State government will announce this in the lead up to the 2010 election. |

| I here that in the next few years, the Mariners will move homebase to Tuggerah with a new stadium, reportedly with a 40,000 capacity. I haven't seen confirmation of this yet. One reason muted is that Bluetongue stadium can't really be expanded beyond its current 20,000 capacity! |

nye - I think it was brought up in another thread a year or so ago about bidding for the WC regarding the 40K stadium
these stadiums I think will get used!
Perth will have Glory and Western Force utilising the stadium plus the Perth Reds who play in the NSW state Rugby League which will eventually lead to WA having a team in the Eastern States Rugby League National comp. :P |

| Yeah your spot on, faultless plan really. Just as long as they dont build grounds with permanent 40K, sport will be shyte. |

I can't find it at the moment, but I read a while ago that the FIFA requirements for a World Cup host involves 40,000 seat stadiums, no more than 2 per city, minimum of 12 venues.
So the FA were looking at building several identical 40,000 seaters if their bid was successful - but the designs would allow each stadium to be reduced to 28,000 after the event.
By my reckoning, Sydney and Melbourne would each have 2, leaving 8 more cities - Brisbane, Gold Coast, Townsville, Adelaide, Perth, Newcastle, Gosford and Hobart.
This would mean Hobart, Perth and Adelaide would get new stadiums, while Townsville, Newcastle and Gosford would all get upgrades. The Gold Coast would add temporary stands to reach the 40,000 capacity also.
This is win/win for the A-league and NRL competitions. |

You'l find 99% of grounds dont have shyte on the SFS. The only one I think is better is Suncorp.
Townsville is due for an upgrade, dunno about the rest... 40K for soccer only? Hmmm, maybe make 20K temporary seating for the WC. |

Perth, Townsville, Canberra and Adelaide
ALso, Member's Equity stadium will be boosted to 25K by 2010
looks like the wheel is rolling for the WC bid
