Gee, how bad does it make Arnie look now with Djite getting a senior call up and the abject failure of Thompson. Even if Thomson was fit I doubt he would have made the senior squad. I like Archie and he is very good at A League level but he is not up to it internationally. I don't see Bruce getting a game against the Dutch or even the Uzbeks for that matter but if he continues to improve and is able to get on the scoresheet and provide assists at Gencler he will be a solid back up come 2010.

The socceroos squad has been announced for the upcoming qualifier and the game against the dutch..
I'm pretty bloody happy with this squad..no complaints from me! believing big things will come..it seems for a long time now we have lacked depth..but I reckon things have changed..this squad promises much in my opinion..
I reckon Archie Thompson has done his dash..the olympics was his last chance for me..and unfortunately he succumbed to injury..
I love Jade North and I hope he moves on and upwards from here..
I'm bloody excited actually!!
This is the start folks...put ya seatbelts on and get on the ride...

I read that Harry scored in a friendly for his new team after comming on as a sub.

and followed up scoring the teams first goal for the season in the first round win a 4 - 2 so he has his goal socring boots on which is good and sounds like he made it through the games with no injury scares. Fingers crossed he keeps it going!

Good round up Kinga

Happy with Kennedy, but not sure of McDonald.

Dutch friendly should be interesting. Looks like Kewell will be around, and probably Cahill, so there is a very sound base for an excelling team.

Top 2 should be achievable, if everybody puts in and kepps their heads when in difficulties.

Heres hoping!

Re:The Road to South Africa.. Reply to this message
reading article about game, Pim wasn't too fussed over the goals scored against, more of a hit up to see who they can play up front. team hadn't played for awhile.....

both Carney and Chipperfield were played down the left for which is where the south african goals came from.

10 days to go to the first game against UZbekistan(sp???)

probably have McDonald and Kennedy up forward.

Kennedy and Milo scored the goals with Milo scoring the socceroo's first with a nice chip of hte keeper and Kennedy scoring with a header from a good cross :)

crab - u r right top 2 go through to WC representing asia.

3rd place team goes into a play off with a 3rd placed team from one of the other groups who then plays off against the winner of the other 3rd place game and winner of that then plays the winner of Oceania.

Socceroo's should win the group in my opinion but if they ain't in the top 2 then I won't be happy.

If they finish 3rd then they haven't achieved anything even though they are still in a chance but not where we should be!

Playing the Qualifiers liek this will give the team more experience and more games to improve which is why we wanted to go to Asia and to get away from the oceania group

Didn't see the game but understand Pim made some half time changes and brought younger players on. Would have been interesting to see if Sth Africa would have scored had he not made the changes.

No respect shown there to Sth Africa..to be honest!!
The socceroos played well throughout..I thought..
good signs all round..
You see...darn..I couldn't help but reply to your remark!
But isn't that the case when something is dear to your heart..you can't help but spring to there defense..human nature I guess..go the socceroos..

The Road to South Africa.. Reply to this message
Come on guys..oops and girls...where is the feedback from the overnight game against Sth Africa..the side played out a terrific and exciting affair with the world cup hosts..the final score was 2-2..
Verbeek has a good number of players to select from now...
The deciding games are nearly upon us..for the next world cup..and I'm starting to get pretty excited..
None of the games coming up are going to be easy..as all times have gotten through on there own merits..
But quietly I am confident..confident in the players..and the coach...for qualification..
Remember it's the top two who get through from each group and there are two groups..so come on the aussies..oi'..oi'..oi'I sound like a bloody pig..but you get the idea..
