orright - not a bad line up mate but it looks like there may be a few missing, if Kewell doesn't play I reckon you push Bresc to the left and play Cahill centre mid, then if Grella is also outstick Wilkshire in the holding Mid role.
Now we have a spot up front for either Mile or Djite!!
just my 2 cents.......... |

It's worrying as to how many absentees there might be for this game against Qatar..but I really do think that this is the best the side has been for some time..and I reckon the coach needs to take some congrats for this..but I know it's only early days..shiite I'm getting nervious already..
I don't know about you guys but I was impressed with Pim Verbeek's interview with the boys on 'The World Game'..he is a man I have grown to like and respect..
The Duke mentioning that he was still interested in playing for the national team...man that's all I wanted to hear..thank you...go the socceroos. |

Ok, I've had a go at a side for Qatar and this is what I have come up with
Mark SCHWARZER
Brett EMERTON Lucas NEILL Craig MOORE Scott CHIPPERFIELD
Vince GRELLA
Jason CULINA Mark BRESCIANO Harry KEWELL
Josh KENNEDY Tim CAHILL
Michael PETKOVIC, Scott MCDONALD, Luke WILKSHIRE, Matthew SPIRANOVIC, Mile STERJOVSKI
I know Sterjovski isn't getting a game at the moment but I think he is a good midfielder who can go upfront. we have plenty of attckers so maybe he isn't needed but he's in anyway. I'm not a fan of what I have seen of McDonald but 32 goals in a season anywhere in world footy is good, even the Scottish league. I think we need to develop a young fella and Spiranovic got the nod. If we could have a second it would be Djite in Mile's place. I would have taken Galekovic as second keeper but I think that is my bias coming in their so Petkovic it has to be. |

| The squad looks as healthy as it has for sometime with Cahill back, Moore coming out of a self imposed international retirement...etc..etc... Be interesting to see how we go back at near full-strength. Anything less than a 2 goal win would be a disappointment IMO specially playing at home. |

| WOO HOO!! Adelaide again good enough to stop the opposition scoring whilst getting one in the back of the net themselves to go to the semis. Now on to Zico, Rivaldo and Kuruvchi! |

I'm a Perth Glory supporter but it is absolutely great to see an Australian team win over a Japanese team, I hope Adelaide go all the way! |

| You must remember that A-League players are now professional players also which means that they too will scale the heights of the football world. In the old days Australian footballers were part-time today they are professional. Look at the way Victory and FC play and their work-rate. |

moat of the pl;ayers aspire to playing top line competition which generally means Europe and if they play at the top level they would be used to playing 3 or so games a week, league game, cup game and a game in europe. might not be the vast traveling but the players will grow and learn from the experience and it isn't liek the socceroo's haven't had to do it before. the boys should be used it :)
Just remember the nice little trick they apparently did to Uruguay ;) where they got the best plane back home and Uruguay had to go economy :) |

Crab
Agree with most what you have to say, but disagree with your comment Re closeness of games.
I think the more they play together the better, and QANTAS provided a single purpose charter aircraft for the boys and support staff. 9 hours in a plane after a gruelling game in business class conditions - flat bed and all, seems a perfectly good way to rehabilitate sore muscles.
Having said that, we do a lot of travelling, and since QANTAS started sponsoring the socceroos big time, we are Club members now and always choose our favourite airline when going overseas. We have also booked Brisbane for QATAR, so hoping its going to be another win there as well.
Yammy - I am also a big fan of Japan Football, having made at least 4 trips there, and I like the style of play. Hope its JPN and Aus that make the automatic places.
Cheers from Brisbane |

yammy cheers.for the updates..
Well, what a magnificent result..
To put it all in perspective..a few days earlier we beat one of the best sides in europe..to adapt to the conditions and the different style of play against Uzbekistan..you got to be *** @king kidding me..brilliant.
Full credit to the team and coaching staff..full pulling it off.
However, the team did look a little sluggish in the second half of this game and personally, I would like to question the closeness of the two games played...considering the stakes in the second game against Uzbekistan! You might say that having the games so close together is part of football today as we know it..but you have to throw into the equation the travel factor as well..I don't want to take anything away from the dutch win..but if Uzbekistan had popped a couple in..in the second half..these types of questions would need to have been asked..
Shiite I love these boys...some serious pride rises within when they play..no other national team in this country has to deal with the geographic logistics that this team has to...love you boys..go the socceroos. |

Final score.
UZB 0-1 AUS
Throughout second half, AUS showed no intention to make any offence.
AUS defence was so robust that they didn't allow UZB to score any 45 min.
Amazing.
Ground of this studium is bumpy.
Not good place to play football for JPN. |

First Half
UZB 0-1 AUS, Opener header by Chipperfield.
AUS defence is robust.
Dominating the midfield with good defence though sort passes are somewhat awkward. |

JPN state run satelite channel is going to broadcast.
But it looks 30min delay broadcast.
It starts from 1:10, it's gotta be 1:40 of your time.
Fox starts broadcasting bit early for extra analysis before the game, perhaps? |

<< The move into asia..is doing bloody great things for our football.. >>
I agree as a JPN football fan.
WC qualifier, JPN have been through suffocating feeling every 4 years.
I hope Australian will share the same feeling.
It looks easy, but there is always a twist, at least for JPN.
Anyway, as far as JPN and AUS continue to win, it's gonna be easier for both to come out on top two. |

Mark Schwarzer; Luke Wilkshire, Lucas Neill, Chris Coyne, David Carney; Brett Emerton, Carl Valeri, Jason Culina, Brett Holman; Harry Kewell, Josh Kennedy.
The same line up as the other day against the dutch..I reckon this is the best/balanced side we have put on a football field for some time..with the exception of Vinnie Grella..expecting even bigger and better things from these boys..than the win the other day..with time on our side..things can only get better..
