| After dominating the first half with majkoiryt of possession leading to the opening goal by Ronaldo unmarked at the back post heading to put Man Utd in front. Chelsea scored against the flow of play near the end of the first half. Score remained 1 - 1 for the rest of the match. Chelsea was lifted by their goal by whoelse but Lampard who ran onto a deflected shot slotting it past Vandersar who slipped over trying to get to the ball. Man Utd won 6-5 on penalties Ronaldo missed for Man Utd putting Chelsea in the prime seat with CHelsea having 3 penalties to go. IT was all looking good until Terry lined up to take the 5th penalty and what would of been last penalty but he slipped over causing his shot to hit the upright and deflecting in the wrong direction for Chelsea. Game then went to knockout penalties. Giggs on his record breaking appearance for Man Utd scored to force Anelka to keep the game going. Vandesar pull out a clinical save to win the game and the Champions League Trophy! Great way to celebrate the memory of the Munich plane crash which was 50 years ago. Sir Bobby CHarlton one of a few players who survived the crash lead the players up the march to receive their winner's medallions and the Champions LEague Trophy |

| Mondays expert, The point is that those 2nd div brazilians cannot defend, they just play the ball for the sake of playing it. saying it is a pre-requisite is ridiculous because most top class centre halfs are not as good as Rio when it comes to playing the ball. And yes he does distribute very well, yes he is better than vidic. What about his leadership and experience, the respect he commands? Is that worth 20mill? i dont know. But Alex Ferguson seems to know a bit about togger! When you buy the best, you pay a premium, thats the same as anything. The question shouldnt be, is he worth 20mill? It should be, who is an allround better central defender? |

| What a game this is going to be! Watched both of there last games and I know I gave a big wrap for United but I was really impressed with the way Chelsea played in there second game against Liverpool.... tehe..United all the way...Rooney will be back and what more can I say... I reckon Giggs should play on forever..what a bloody legend.. |

| oh well ....... Man Utd Champions again :) Good to see some bloke at Chelsea thought they should change the rules so that Chelsea might have a chance of winning the Premier League ..... not that it would of been needed after throwing it away and drawing with Bolton :) Apparently someone from Chelsea said that they should have a play off like they have in Italy if top 2 teams finish equal on points (no matter what goal difference). Man U finished about 19 goals clear in difference. Good to see a lot of goals scored :) |

As Rio is hardly the teams "playmaker" of exquisite skill, I dont see how this accounts for the 20 mill+ extra on the likes of Vidic & Evra. "When did you last see him panic into smashing the ball in a clearance?" Go to any 2nd Div team in Sth Am or continental Europe where they play out from the back and this would be considered a pre-requisite, rather than anything special. |

| Mondays expert... Rio doesnt 'just' prevent the opposition from scoring. Do you know anything about this game? The extra paid for a player like Ferdinand is because he defends better than other players, he makes fewer mistakes in a key position, he holds the line, he distributes very well, he gives confidence to his team mates because they can rely on him. When did you last see him panic into smashing the ball in a clearence? Lots of players can defend, there is alot more to being a world class centre half than that. |

| Never said they had to be better than Rio, just do the same job of "preventing the opposition from scoring". At Man Utd alone: Vidic 7 mill Evra 5.5 mill Take your pick of almost anyone with the spare 17 mill. There's no way you can reconcile the disparity on football ability alone. I dont buy the "he plays for Man Utd so he must be a 30 million dollar footballer" argument. |

| They paid 30 mill to Leeds, who had previously paid 18 mill to West Ham. Which 3 * 10 million players are better than Rio? He is quick, decent in the air, reads the game well, makes very few mistakes and is consistent. Being the centre half for a team that will probably win the League and is in the Champions League final speaks for itself. |

| I'm not convinced that for 30 mill (if true) you couldn't buy at least 3 defenders from around the world who would be as good as Rio at just "preventing the opposition from scoring". At that price tag you'd expect a bit more bang for your buck. |
