Dodd ran into spaces really well and ran hard but finishing lacked. Point is Djite would have nailed a few in the same position with the form he was in before he was injured. Thompson might have scored 4 or 5 alone in a United shirt.
Have now lost Cassio for at least 6 months so need for a left back is urgent (think Adelaide need to focus on getting 2 quality left backs, when Kemp was suspended for Gf thats where Victory attacked and killed us). Is there some curse on United when they going into the big games or getting close to the zenith? Will hurt playing Pohang then Yatai without him.
A number of reasons why Victory have lost form, not least player discontent, infighting (clearly that happened with big Ljubo) and just a genral Premiership hangover. |

Its funny how u can change allegiances when its club for country. I absolutely h@te Victory when they are doing the Roar, but right behind them in the Asian Champions. Funny human trait that eh.
Like to see Adelaide go all the way, Vidmar seems to be developing into a fine coach imo.
Go Adelaide - did I just say that?

gwdmerrin..I just reckon they were beaten by a better side mate..I thought victory played some good football at times but full credit to Gamba Osaka..good stuff I reckon..the asian championships is terrific I reckon..I hope it gives victory a burning desire to get back into the championships..this next a-league season is going to be a cracker!!
Man..i'm equally excited about Adelaide going so well..these guys are representing not only adelaide but the country in there endeavours...I am happy.. |

Right Fella
Being a bit hard on Dodd - in my opinion. He played well and lead by example. Burns was terrific, and has the potential to be another Kewell (long way to go though!).
Well done Adelaide, only wish it were the Roar.
Have to agree with this thread, Victory are lacking something. I feel for Thompson though, with that terrible (and very illegal) tackle in the first game, because he is the game breaker for the Victory.
Ahhh - maybe it was Thompson they were lacking.

Binh Duong can consider themselves lucky it was Dod upfront and not Djite because if that was the case it would have been at least 7 past their net. Chance after chance went begging in the first half! Nathan Burns is sure to be lost to Europe after the Olympics.
the Steelers here in a couple of weeks who could only manage a draw agains Yatai even though they were at home. It's good to be a United supporter right now! |

Victory lost the game and out of ACL.
I don't know why at all sudden Japanese clubs become so tough in ACL Champion league.
Please remember, every year all Japanese teams had been beaten by Koreans, Chinese and Arabs at group stage.
Victory's time will come, given the booming economy and good supporters over there.
10 years ago I saw a man said Soccer is the real football on TV and booed by all audience fiercely.
Time changes.... |

| Well less than 4 hours before kickoff for the Adelaide Binh Duong game and hopefully with Agostino, Sarkies and Cornthwaite adding to the depth we can outplay them and score a few goals. Melbourne going to Japan will be a huge task and will do well to get a draw. Heres hoping Pohang at home can take the points or force a draw against Changchun. |

| yeh but two goals melbourne scored off headers against gamba were very lucky to go in. gamba controlled that game and looked dangerous every free kick/header. that croatian r whatever guy in the gamba is very good, yet countless times he was left unmarked... thats not a good performance in my eyes |

| Not many fans at Victory thought there was anything wrong with Sarkies or Galekovic, we just couldn't give them the game time they wanted/needed so they headed to a team with a weaker squad LOL :) |

| Oh, thanks for Eugene Galekovic too! lol Seriously, his keeping has been great since he arrived in Adelaide and kept a clean sheet until Philani blasted an unstoppable one past him last round. |

| Agostino and Sarkies (remember him Victory fans? He was at one stage ahead of Burns and Djite as the best young player in this country) will probably play some minutes against the Victory this Wed in prep for the the next ACL round. Hope Ago can stand up and be counted this year. Will be interesting what Vidmar does if he keeps getting injured. |

Crab man I am with you brother, the Victory are definitely one of the best teams in the A League and I have been impressed with their performances in the ACL (Taking into account injuries)
The 2 games we have lost have required 2 fantastic goals from near the halfway line to get the other team into the game!!
Go the Victory!! |

I believe a lot of people thought that going into asia was going to be a cake walk..in the front door of the house and out the back door scratching there heads..saying was that it!! Going into asia has been one of the best things to happen to football in this country..
The football so far..and I'd have to disagree with previous comments..has been at times bloody terrific in this club championships..
Personally, I believe Melbourne Victory are the best football club in Australia..I support them so would you expect me to say anything else...I believe that injuries and player availability has worked against them in recent times!! In saying that I want to pay respect to the two teams that have beaten the victory in the last couple of weeks...both good quality teams..and champions in there own right..ohh man they nearly came through in both these games..so near...I am proud of these guys...carn the victory...
One last thing..let's not forget about Adelaide..who are leading there group at the moment...they could make football history in this country..by making the knock out stages of the tournament..great stuff.. |

Seymourvic,
That's not true. Rather, I see very little good in it (from a strictly football perspective). |

You can take it any way you like. The way it is intended, is that you are not worth discussing English football with as you refuse to see any good in it. |

| I didn't see the Victory Gamba game but Adelaide have been able to learn after being involved in last years ACL. An advantage that Adelaide also has is Vidmars time with Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He knows what to expect from Asian referees and how to play the conditions. Ok so we haven't got a Japanese side to play against but Binh Duong is the recent V League Champs as is Changchun Yatai Chinese Super League Champs and Steelers are the K league champs. With Pohang and Binh Duong at home and Yatai in China 2 home wins and a draw and better goal difference 1/2 finals beckons. A long way to go but it is looking good in Adelaide |

"I got the feeling that most people expected the A League teams to stroll the Asian Champs League"
most probably would have tyhought the teams would be more competive and play to suit the occasion.
just like in the other comps. english football is different to how the Euro Champions league is played ..... and I would assume the same thing with regards to ACL compared to A League |

"Let's be more precise, Merrick is Scottish, just like Sir Alex Ferguson. And what the f@ck does he know about coaching?"
I thought it went without saying that Sir Alex is a one off.
Can someone tell me another Scottish/English coach who sends his team out to play in the same style as Fergie? |

melbourne victory were outplayed but you have to remember the J league is strong.
I got the feeling that most people expected the A League teams to stroll the Asian Champs League, and while I wanted Melbourne to win I also think its good that the realization may finally hit home that it is not an easy competition. |
