Re:What an amazing FA Cup! Reply to this message
haha how stupid are they seymour HAHAHA

I would have thought that there would be some law saying that you couldn't play. I know there is the cup tied rule where if u have played in the cup for one team and then transferred to another u can not play for that team in the same comp.

oh well

A clause in a contract will make it LEGAL (not sure why the capitals, but you did it), my point is that it is not an automatic clause and playersare regularly allowed to play against their 'parent' club.

I know, because my team , NUFC, have often been done over by players that they have loaned out to clubs.

There is nothing in the laws/rules to stop him playing, it is purely an arrangement made between the clubs at the time of the loan.

yep you're talking about Barnsley's goalie Luke Steele who is on loan from West Brom...

So if Barnsley and West Brom meet each other in the Final, Steele won't be allowed to play...

As for the rule, West Brom are paying Luke Steele's wages so it wouldn't make sense to pay him for playing against them...

I guess it would be like you paying me to smack you kingkingerikcantona, wouldn't make sense would it??

english - dunno if I am thinking of hte same player but one team has a player who is on loan from one of the others and is hoping they don't play them cos it will mean he will miss out ... dunno how that is - does the team advise him not to play or is there a rule by the FA that you can not play against your own team (sumfing to do maybe with match fixing)????

Good to see another Baggies fan in Aus!

So, West Brom will be playing Portsmouth in the semi's then? That's probably the hardest draw unfortunately, but if Barnsley can beat Liverpool and Chelsea, then I'm sure West Brom can take on Portsmouth, and on the plus side, if they do beat Portsmouth then surely they're in with a really good chance to take out whoever they face in the final. On a good day, neither Barnsley nor Cardiff should pose a problem to West Brom.

Actually, didn't West Brom sign Dean Kiely from Pompey? If so, that'll probably give him extra incentive to keep their shots out, and also, remember West Brom's 'great escape' in 2005 when they had to win their last game to stay in the Premiership? Who did they beat in that game but Portsmouth, 2 - 0! They can do it!

P.S. Someone FINALLY uploaded the highlights of the West Brom Vs. Bristol Rovers game to YouTube. Nice.

worsfold - yeah portsmout took the opportunity that was fed to them by the ref and good on them!

It is amazing the record of number of penalties that don't go Man Utd's way at Old Trafford - Ronaldo should haev been given that penalty and was a shocking decision, any other club would be screaming blue murder as well!

anyway good to see a club like Barnsley flying! hopefully they go all the way!

HARRY REDKNAPP;Theres your answer.
This is the third time he has lead the minnows to victory over man U.
He doesnt coach against the team,he coaches against Fergies style of play.
He did the same with West Ham a couple of seasons back.
Can you name his First team he did it with?

Its good to see the little clubs in the semis and not the glamour clubs with their prima donna players, could not believe the ranting and raving from Sir Alex after the Man Utd defeat, blamed everyone except his team of superstars, hopefully the cup still has a few more twists and turns to come

The big four of Man U, Chelsea, A.r.senal and Liverpool have now been knocked out!

Little Barnsley's achievement in knocking out Liverpool and Chelsea is quite amazing and let's hope one of the non Premier League teams go on and win it...

BTW teams left are Barnsley, Portsmouth, Bristol, West Brom, Middlesbrough and Cardiff.....
