| Toad you are right it would have to be viable operation, but also it's an untouched market meaning they don't come up against other codes on the same day or weekend, you also can penetrate the market better. |

GC Galaxy met the financial guidelines easily. They did not get in because F F A did not want a nine team comp. As simple as that.
As far as G C Galaxy name is concerned - it is OK, cementing their close relationship with LA Galaxy. Maybe there is a bit of anti America nism here!
I for one am quite unhappy the Gold Coast did not make a start this year, aaaand I am a long term Roar supporter. |

| justin tasmania should only be considered if they are viable not just because afl has not gone there. doesn't matter whether they go there or not they are different markets and a-league has proven it can compete. |

| Since the new franchise clubs are not divided along ethnic lines as in the old NSL, and some of those fans (esp in Sydney) don't support the A-League because their clubs no longer feature in the national comp, I am confident that the positives of 2 team cities would outweigh the negatives re crowd problems. |

| stuff that for an idea julius, it should stay one team for each city/town, that was the problem that lead to the downfall of the NSL, with citys like sydney having two or three teams, which at times lead to crowd brawls which aint good for the game |

| Since the AFL won't give Tasmania a side it's perfect for the FFA to get one back over their bigger rivals and get Tasmania involved Soccer/football is not too bad down their in terms of support. |

I think that Northern Thunder is a great name, and Townsville won't have enough good players, send them to Northern Thunder along with some Northern Territory players as well.
Gold Coast Galaxy... why the hell did they even think of using that name!?
Get one more team at Geelong, Dandenong, or even somewhere near the Border, so we can have a SA-Vic sort of team! |

Two concerns.. can Queensland support three A-league teams? I believe the Northern Thunder is going to have to get try and get some support from people in Darwin (which means playing games up that way) if they ever want to survive long enough. As for the Gold Coast team.. if they're stupid enough to keep the name 'Galaxy' then they won't be getting my support.. (even though they will be the only team close enough to me that I can regularly travel to games)
Gold Coast Galaxy.. what a load of plagiarised poo! |

Step with caution I say....
In order for the game to grow expansion needs to happen..BUT are the current clubs viable in there own right...I don't think so...
The more pressing issue for me is the standard of football that is seemingly thrown out on the paddock each week and is passed as good enough...
What is the FFA doing about this...this will become a bigger issue further down the track..
We are already seeing players looking abroad..because they realise that in order to develop and to be of any consideration with the national team..you have to play at a higher standard...
Coaches like Gary Van Egmund have come out publicly and said they want to develop...
This all comes back on the FFA..and unless they do something the local game once again will suffer...be brought to it's knees..
Don't get me wrong here..I believe that the FFA have done a marvellious job in marketing the game..even with the limited opportunities...but they need to look at the quality of the product...or soon the people will turn away..
Bring in people from overseas...or utilise the expertise that we have here already...Rob Baan..what is this man doing? he is the technical director, appointed by the FFA..I'm sorry to rattle on...but.. |

Heres hoping they are viable.
Having said that they both have good rectangular stadia and apparently well backed financially.
Interesting times! |

Saw on the news that FFA will be allowing 2 new teams into the league for next season.
Gold Coast and Townsville will be fielding a team each.
Apparently Frank wants to have another 2 teams enter the comp. in a few more years as well. |
