| part time, as in they play the 15 man code for their regions, and don't play 7s at all, the wales 7s 'squad' is a revolving door, and the make up changes all the time. The Kiwis 7s players IS professional set up. I disagree with you. |

Geraint I have always followed sevens after going to many in Hong kong from a young age. Unfortunately your claim that at the world cup sevens ---
"our team was made up of part timers, yours was a full time pro team that plays nothing but 7s" Is not true. The Welsh team had 4 players from Newport Gwent Dragons, some from Cardiff blues, London Irish, a few small clubs but for the most part big clubs from Britain. And yes many of them had played previous years on the ciruit.
The new zealand sevens team didn not consist of super 14 players but just NPC.They have also played together a bit over the years but thier focus is still 15's.
I do think that 7's is an amazing game though that brings out youngsters, and discovers stars for the future. I remember watching Cullen and Lomu in Hong Kong before they had hardly played a professional game and ever one knew these guys would be huge. |

| MarkBishop - hasn't anyone told you before, it's not what you do between world cups, it's well you peform in them. We're just taking it easy, trying out a few players, and then BANG, go for the jugular! |

Ok Geraint I congratulate your 7s team.
The powerhouse of rugby has shifted it is now Wales the best 7s teams in the world.
Oh you forgot to mention you finished tenth overall in the 7s world series. But shhhhhh. Top ten finish not bad really. |

MarkBishop. I'm not making claims against you. I'm stating facts about Wales winning the 7s. That's not a claim, that's a fact. Anyway, our team was made up of part timers, yours was a full time pro team that plays nothing but 7s. We turned you over twice this year, and once on your home turf. Of course, i'm sure you could put in some of your star players from your 15 man team, but likewise we could put in the likes of Martyn Williams and Shane Williams, to counter that.
You just don't like it because the balance in world rugby is changing, and you don't seem to want to acknowledge that 'little ole wales' can challenge you. |

Read the other comments. I have given tonnes of respect to NH teams especially the French. I think its ridiculous people and typically NH persons claiming they have an equal or better team then the ABs when quite "arrogantly" they haven't.
I find it disrespectful when people down the all blacks constantly claiming that there not what they use to be and that their beatable these days. Well guess what? reality doe's not suggest that. Yes the Boks have had a good run but South Africa are our equals, we virtually toss the No.1 ranking amongst ourselves and they a top side at the moment.
I think you might be a little sensitive about the success of the ABs on the back of your current crop, but you guys will bounce back, and when that day comes Im sure you'll be claiming to have turned the corner and to be the No.1 team on the planet (it normally only takes 1 win to get you there) |

Markbishop,
You should talk to people with respect and not constantly mouth off about your great team.
NH rugby has improved and you should acknowledge that. to just constantly go on with the "we are the best" line, is just boring.
AB's didn't massacre Wales and really in the end Wales could have won that game so come down to earth mate.
AB's don't rule rugby anymore and a number of teams are competitive and can beat the Blacks on their day.
Don't get me wrong I like the ABs but sometimes you in particular get a bit arrogant in their success |

Geraint, you have come out claiming all kinds of rediculous things about Wales Rugby.
Mate if we cared about 7s we would put in some of our top players, and guess what? you would get smashed. No contest. When we decide to play we have 50+ year winning streaks against minnows haha |

Mark Bishop. I'm not talking about the world series, i'm talking about the RWC that comes round every 4 years. You have only won that once in 2001. Wales are the current world cup champions, a part time side, that knocked out your full time pros.
If you don't like the world cups, why do you even bother entering them, and why do you get so upset each time you get knocked out of them, if it doesn't mean so much to you?
I think in your case you've rationalised that attack is the best form of defence, which is why you feel that you're just 'on the defence' against me. Re-read the posts, you've got in a few sly jabs against me, and i'm responding, which you don't like. |

You need to get real a little Geraint, Im not sure how many times we have won the World Seven series, somthing like 7 times in 9 years. We just dont get carried away with it like some who win a one off tournament and use it as a bisis for rugby success.
Plus I would add that the NH typically overate themselve more then we underate them. Most of my comments aren't on the attack but typically on the defence of someone like yourself thinking you guys are as good or better then a team you haven't beaten in over half a century. |

markbishop, if 7s doesn't mean anything to you, why do you have a professional team dedicated to it, whereas we have just a part time team.
If i'm not mistaken this is a RUGBY forum, and doesn't say RUGBY 15s. Actually i'm pretty impressed that we won the 7s and knocked you out along the way. And i'm pretty sure that you'd be happy with some world cup silverware as well. Tty as you might to denigrate everything about the Northern Hemisphere, you just make yourself look silly. |

i don't think it was worth winning, unless it was won by a try, then i'd forget about it !!
I want you to rest your players for the England match, and win by a handsome margin. There a British rugby board (called 606) and on that board all the english posters keep banging on about how they finished above Wales [on points difference] in the six nations earlier this year, and are therefore an infinitely a better team. I'd like to see how close England get against the All Blacks as that will surely predict how much better than Wales they are. |

There was a game like you described below earlier this year against Australia where we won by one point with a Carter last ditch penalty. (imagine that winning by a penalty) A bit to hard on the nerves for me, I prefered last weekends game far more easy on the heart rate.
We wont run in 10 tries against Italy. It looks like twelve changes and a couple of players I have never really heard of. I would rather see a more full strength team as 80,000 Italians deserve to see the Allblacks in full flight.
Italy toured well earlier this year and we had to fight for our 27-6 win, I wouldn't take them too lightly especially with the passion that will be driven by crowd support. Should be exciting. |

i enjoy tries as well, sometimes they don't always come, and penalties have to suffice. I'd take a win over the all blacks on penalties, than a glorious defeat with tries. some people find the aerial ping pong (initiated by Carter i might add) a bit boring and not exactly free flowing rugby as well, but that's part of the game these days. i have no complaints with the game.
there's one thing more entertaining that free flowing rugby, and that is edge of seat, nail biting suspense, where the match could go either way in the final 10 minutes or so. I'd much rather see that than watch the All Blacks run in 10 tries against Italy. |

I am trying to be unbias but that is hard as I am an AB fan. I think the ban was a bit tough and have seen a lot worse for less of a punishment. However, it is what it is. Whether it is a reality or not, the fact is, the team that scores more tries should win. That is why they are worth more points than a penalty. They are harder to get in test rugby and they are the preferred method of scoring. The Welsh scored less tries and the ABs more - ABs win. If they Welsh scored more tries and the ABs less then the Welsh deserve to win. BTW I think we all agree with that here. I LOVE TRIES!!!!! I love it when it is a free flowing running game of rugby and tries are scored. That is seriously great entertainment. The WC final between ENG and BOKS was boring - NO TRIES SCORED!!!!! Give me tries!!!!
Blessings
