The reds back line is very very good. (if they gel) Lucas, Genia, Cooper, Chambers (fantastic season for the Storm) Ione, Hynes, McLinen etc.

If Ewen can put some starch in the forwards they will have the making of a very good outfit. My tip is the first appointment he should make is a League conditioner like Billy Johnston and the second should be a league defensive coach like Les Kiss (ex Wallas and Tahs defensive coach too).

If they can match up upfront, they will be close to a top four team.....on paper at least. But then, not paper team ever won zip. Here's hoping the Reds can do something.

I personally think they picked the best man for the job.It will be interesting to see if Ewen has more in his armory than a tight five style of play.
The Reds were erratic this year but they certainly threw the ball about and played an attractive style of running rugby. That may have had something to do with Barnes but we'll see.
Good luck to him.

he just got appointed coach of the Reds...Ewen McKenzie i mean....will be really interesting to see next year how the Reds will play...i am really curios to see which part you got right Froggy...he coached the Tahs that way cause that is all he knows and the Reds will bring the same approach to the game or because he thought this is the best game plan for the Tahs and he will employ a totally different strategy with the Reds.

You're rught ciu, so I guess it all depends on whether he coached the Tahs that way because that's all he knows, or because he was coaching to what he perceived to be the strengths of the team he had.

With the loss of so many good players, it's very hard to see where the Reds strengths are for next year. I guess with Genia, Cooper, Turinui & Ioane it's in the back line.

very true Froggy, but if he gets the job he will need to change his tactics completely...his whole game plan and his success at the Tahs was based on the team having a really dominant forward pack...he will not have that at the Reds at all...

The reds could do a lot worse than Link. While he was sacked by the idiots that run NSW Rugby, he did take the Tahs to the final series three times in four years, and the Grand Final twice. During his period at the Tahs, the Saders were the only franchise more successful.

Whoever gets the job I hope he can turn things around, the Reds languishing at the bottom of the S14 is not good for Aus rugby.

Ewen McKenzie to coach the Reds? Reply to this message
that would be something, isn't it?but might be really possible, with McKenzie sacked couple of days ago and with Mooney sacked few hours ago by the QRU...
good luck anyway to whoever gets the job,he will need a lot of it the way the Reds are going lately...
and good luck to the Reds with a whole new coaching team...i hope they do really well next year....of course after the Tahs trash them and collect the 5 points in the 1st round
