Frog,
It didn't look like a try to me but hey I'll take it.
The TMO took an age to reply and in the end Lawrence made his own call.
Good on him.
A try in the record books ! |

ciu, I guess it is a matter of opinion. I thought he grounded it effectively, and then the ball bounced forward out of control, which of course doesn't matter.
Zedds, best of luck with the knee. Did my anterior cruciate playing Golden Oldies in about 96, bride was very unhappy!! Hard to accept the body won't quite cop what it used to.

When do you think you will be back on the field ?
ABs are missing your crunching defense and line breaking finesse Zedds ?
I'm still out for a few weeks yet.
Hoping to be back for the Irish game !

| Definitely a case of being over cautious. See Doc today for four week check up. He will update prognosis and advise on weight bearing. |

Froggy...did he ground the ball on the line or just short?to be honest i did rewind the moment 30 times and i really can't say 100% that the ball was grounded on the line...but heck...we deserved that try...
Zedds...good luck with your rehabilitation mate...osteoarthritis is a terrible thing for a young person...if they removed your brace that means you can raise your leg straight...i bet that is a relief for you...they must be over cautious where you are, usually after a medial opening wedge osteotomy, weight bearing is allowed as much as the leg can take for the first 5-6 weeks, and after that usually you can get rid of the crutches...if you had the procedure 4 weeks ago and you still need 4 weeks of no weight bearing, means they are overly cautious as i said,or the leg does not heel as expected...i hope the first is right...
and if you had the procedure 4 weeks ago, don't forget you're due for x-rays in 2-3 weeks time, lool.good luck. |

Listen to the comments from the Ref. The touch judge says that the TMO said it was a knock on. The Ref then said I dont care if the ball was knocked on I want to know if it was grounded or not, at this point the confussion occurs, however the TMO had said the ball had been knocked on. After that Larence was done listening....
Listen to it honestly... |

Okay Mark, why wasn't it a try?
He grounded the ball, didn't go into touch, what else do you need to score a try, be wearing a black jersey?

Got it from Rugby Stats website, looks well put together and accurate. Aussie too I believe.
I doubt very much there was much difference in the breakdown and turnovers but would love to see the actual Stat. The breakdown was clearly won by NZ in the second half from what I saw and was evenly contested in the first.
Busted my knee in Perth last November playing Touch rugby. Have had two arthroscopic surgeries since and four weeks ago had what they call a "Tibial Osteotomy". In Short they cut through both your Tibia and Fibia completely, remove a piece from yout Tibia just below the knee joint and realign your leg. It is to change the geometry to unload the damaged side of my knee. Have a few screws a staple and a stainless plate holding it together and have just had the brace removed hence I can sit at the computer.
I think I am on the mend almost twelve months later. 4 more week no weight bearing then hopefully back to walking normaly. |

Hey Z,
sorry to hear about the leg.
Where did you get the stats? Have to admit I took mine off the tv and recalled 9-13 as penalty count and AB 2:39 in Wallabies 22 (hence claim that Aus had 50% more time there).
The guy I was watching the game with made the observation before stats came up so we watcwd with interest. Am wondering if I read it wrong, TV had it wrong or your source is wrong. Something tells me the former is probably right.
Apolgies if I got Some of it wrong.
Nevertheless they still won the missed tackles, breakdowns and turnovers - by a fair margin - from my seemingly frail memory. LOL! |

Zedds,
If you are bringing up those stats you must be bored. What did you do to your leg? I can sympathize having had four knee surgeries in the past. Nothing worse than not be able to get up and go for a run. Hope you heal fast...

Gale, have just checked the match stats and from what you say below is not accurate.
"Wallabies had more possession, more time in AB half, more than 50% more time in AB 22, more turnovers (yep, you read it right!), less penalties, less mistakes, less missed tackles etc etc. A comprehensive improvement bar lineout where they gave away 4."
Oz NZ
10 PENALTIES CONCEDED 13
1 FREE KICKS CONCEDED 2
49% POSSESSION 51%
53% TIME IN OPP. HALF 47%
3:44 TIME IN OPP. 22 3:49
The only clear advantage was time in opposition half. The AB's had more possession and only 5 seconds less in the 22.
Couldn't get tackles and handling but the AB's certainly missed a few and there handling errors will need to improve especially when about to score try's. |

The penalty count for NZ against OZ in all three matches this year is 43 penalties conceded by Australia and 42 penalties conceded by NZ.
Interesting the first game of the season Oz gave away 13 penalties to New Zealands 10 which is the exacty opposite to Tokyo's match.
So it all evens out in the end. |

There are plenty of times when the penalty count is reversed, the whole "Allblacks is a protected species" is laughable....Deans never once complained about reffing when his vaunted Canterbury team used to control the ruck with Richie at the helm, he's having a laugh.
The cracks are showing in his abilities as a coach and as a spokesperson under pressure.
In Wellington he blamed his squad for capitulating and this week he blames the ref...He has also blamed lack of pride in the green and gold....
What about you Robby, are you going to take some responsibily I wonder. |

I agree with Gale, McCaw is not a cheat, the AB's are a better side, and while I think we may have been on the bad side of the reffing in Tokyo, there have been plenty of games where we have got the better end of it.
The AB's are a better side because
1. They are more aggressive and purposeful at the breakdown
2. Their line-out is working better.
3. They have a world class 10, and we have a 12 playing at 10.
4. They are able to maintain their intensity for 80 minutes.

Gap, Mex, Z, Gleni and all K1s
despite my frustration that Richie gets away with a lot, I would like it on record from me that:-
1. NZ is a superior side to Wallabies at the mo - no question
2. NZ deserve the 'better side' tag
3. I don't believe McCaw is a cheat
4. I do believe he and the AB forwards get away with more than anyone at the reakdown - which is a reffing problem, not a playing problem. Smith & co would do the same IF they could get away with it.
Cheers cuzzies. |

I know the WALs have not faired too well this year, but they are close to where they need to be. Come WC they will be in there with a good chance. Gale, you are probably right about the game and the ABs tactics - however you were also right when you said "old bull" vs "young bull." If George Smith was playing his usual position, don't you think he would be in there doing the same thing and getting away with it? He has for years - just like Richie.
As for the beach I have moved to.... We were at the beach but have moved into a new house that we have just built. The beach is Playa Miramar in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. It is the tropics and has great surf.... I love it. |

| I agree. The ARU's sat on its laurels for too long thinking the silver fox era would forever hang over the game and ensure its longjevity. The media platform needs to change (please, no more Kangaroos with red eyes and fangs), the commentary platform needs to innovate (ex Wallabies decrying the ref and rules week in and week out) the players need to get more physical, the games need to get faster, the ref's need to get better etc etc. Otherwise, phrases like Go you good Thing and Go the Wallabies will only be childhood memories. |

| You blokes always like to have your say on why you lost, the All Blacks won because they're the better team, the ref's decisions went both ways, like was that Wallaby try REALLY a try, I think not, and so did the video ref. Does Ritchie cheat- of course he don't cheat any more than George Smith does, a good flanker plays on the edge, and it's up to the ref, he's watching, and the same ref didn't ref all this season's games did he.Sorry but your team just isn't good enough when it counts. |

Mex,
whereas AB deservedly won, they got a lot with much more than they were penalized for at breakdown. Their clear slowing tactics shoulda been dealt with much more harshly. Richie was let off lightly yet again whereas Pok0k was judged harshly - howeverthats the way it goes: the wise bull knows how to manage a full game where as the young bull sets himself up to be caught. |

Dingo is having a bit of a complain about the ABs tactics of infringing during the test match. The penalty count was 13-9 which indicates the WALs did a bit of infringing of their own. A good test team will adapt to what is being or not being called by the ref and play accordingly. If Robbie looses 7 in a row to the ABs, I don't think it is the ABs illegal tactics that are beating the WALs, I think it is a better team. Dingo complaining about illegal tactics by the ABs on behalf of the WALs is like Jack the Ripper crying "rape." I think Robbie is a great coach, but it was not the ABs illegal tactics that gave them their wins. It was being the better team on the day. He might want to concentrate on that part of the game.
Blessings
