Sprout,

I don't even think John O'Neill is gonna sack someone for having a chick in their room. He may be a hard ass, but I don't think he's a fundamentalist Catholic! LOL!

Geez,I hope it's more than just having a chick in his room.
If he did, he needs to answer to his missus, not the ARU

Re:Lote Sacked Reply to this message
Tuquiri deserved to go if only for playing rugby badly
Big head
over rated
over paid
under performing
If he has all these negatives then why pay him close to $1million per year
he is very good off the field with kids ,supporters etc but that doesn't win games
Playing well and scoring tries does and if you cant do that then off you go
He did do something wrong and it will come out in the wash
wait and see
The ARU arent that stupid and they would have had the best legal advice before they made the decision
Move on now and build a bridge
get over it
The Wallabies have more chance of winning now he has gone That must be a bonus to you all

Re:Lote Sacked Reply to this message
Your joking. Lote was sacked because he is useless. Just another overhyped league player whom has done nothing. Would not even be one of the best 7 or 8 wingers in world rugby. Pathetic

Re:Lote Sacked (PREVIEW)
Maybe Lote will end up back in league after all. It seems you only get 6 weeks and the club cope the fine when you cr/ap on the floor of a hotel and turn up naked and d blind at 6am to a strangers room.

....

Ado I can't find any news reports that say he was blind (as in drunk) All I can find is that he was naked and disorientated... (which he claims is due to him having a stomach bug and diarrhoea.)
(And no I don't endorse his actions, I'm just reporting the facts as I read em)

I seriously don't know what you have to do to be a rugby league player. Perhaps get a lobotomy upon signing up.

And how poor is the RL management for not throwing him Miles of the game immediately?

Panther,

I reckon you must be a Blackman. LOL!

Rooted Toy is right - the saga has done the AB a favour, regardless of whether or not Lote deserves to be sacked.

Re:Lote Sacked Reply to this message
Hickey is also now backing the ARU's decision and it is his team that are probably suffering the biggest loss so it would seem Lote is out there on his own as people are distancing themselves from him.

Re:Lote Sacked Reply to this message
OK boys, just found out what could have happened in the Act hotel.Hint "joel clinton broncos...something similar"

could be a rumour but thats probably the basis.Questionable whether it's breach of contract but i guess it could be bringing the game into disripute.

Thats all i can say but the way it has been covered up is warranted!

Re:Lote Sacked Reply to this message
The Plot thickens. WTF did he do?

When contacted by the Herald last night, Deans said he supported the ARU in terminating Tuqiri's contract last week.

"I want to make clear that I was consulted during the process and I completely support the ARU's decision," Deans said. "I also fully support [ARU chief] John O'Neill's leadership on this issue.

"Obviously, I am unable to discuss Lote's actual termination but I have been concerned by how some have seized on this issue and may have attempted to use this to their advantage."

Re:Lote Sacked Reply to this message
One more point, as a high level player, wallowing down in club rugby with nothing else on the horizon except more club rugby i.e, no Currie cup, no NPC must be demorilizing. Financially it makes no sense and you could easily see the borderline players losing the initiative and maybe playing up a little. I am not saying this is what Lote did but but the enviroment could eeasily make this happen.

Re:Lote Sacked Reply to this message
O'Neill can be his own worst enemy at times.

Dropping Australia A is his biggest mistake, he has done this soley to balance books. There are two main reasons why I think this is a mistake although most will probably disagree.
1. He has shown no support for the developement of the pacific nations, and this is not just a monetary issue. To be able to play against a team like Aus A for the nations lifts the level of the competition. 2. He has forced the Wallabies whom do not make the starting 22 to play club rugby which is about so far below test level that it is not even measurable. Sure it's great for club rugby but IMO it is a short term view and I would not be surprised to see it brought back in.

O'Neills public shalacking of the SARU during the S15 dabacle could have been handled a lot better considering it was mostly a gain for Australia where SA and NZ have had to modify current competitions (Iconic competitiona at that) which do not even exist in Australia. He has gained another S15 team but at what cost? He came accross as an arrogant ass in that one. I am not defending the SARU whom were also playing hard ball but someone certainly had to show some people skills and O'Neall certainly did not.

Now with Lote, whom is far from being an angel he has shown even less people skills. Whether he likes it or not, the warning he gave Tuquiri would certainly have had some impact on the recent decision to sack him so to say it doesn't seems quite odd especially if Tuquiri was as shocked by the decision as he claims. That and O'Neills push to balance the books, makes it look bad for him. But as you all say most of this is speculation which I put down to the mis handling of the current situation.

Re:Lote Sacked Reply to this message
I don't disagree with you, Ado, probably just a bit more reluctant than some to jump to an opinion until I know the full story.

One thing you are right about is that O'Neil's head could be on the line. He isn't very popular among the hierachy, they tolerate him because he's bloody good at what he does. However, if he's f!@*ed up, he won't find many friends, they will be very quick to cut him adrift.

Given that Lote has forshadowed legal action, however, I think he has no choice but to remain silent. It would probably be easier to come out and try to justify himself, however if that were to damage the ARU's case, he has a responsibility to his employer to say nothing.

Re:Lote Sacked Reply to this message
It's only hard to form an opinion on what whether the punishment fitted the crime. It's not hard to form an opinion on O'Niels handling of this which has been nothing short of disgraceful.

If you read Killers article and a few others floating around you'll begin to see the gravity of this and where it could potentially lead. GS comments and a few others will infuriate O'Niel, so there goes his future captaincy claims.

The trouble is, it has already gone too far for either party to reassess their position and potentially save face.

If it goes the way I suspect it will then we should expect nothing less than a certain CEO's head on a platter.

Re:Lote Sacked Reply to this message
Still hard to form an opinion without knowing what really happened.

However, I refer to my post of 26/3 this year, where I noted that O'Neil is an outstanding administrator who has a great ability to turn a business or a sporting code around. He also has the worst people skills in the country.

That comes not just from my own experience, but from a very good mate who has had a lot to do with him (and is mentioned often in his book, favourably).

Re:Lote Sacked Reply to this message
THE Australian Rugby Union is facing a player revolt over the Lote Tuqiri affair, with some of the game's biggest stars livid over CEO John O'Neill's handling of the matter.

The ARU has refused to detail its reasons for sacking the Wallabies and Waratahs star for legal reasons, prompting a flood of criticism for its lack of transparency.

The decision has also angered a number of players - including Wallabies stars - who have lost a teammate without a proper explanation.

A source close to the Wallabies, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told The Sun-Herald that "2011 can't come soon enough for some of the players".

"They can't wait for the World Cup to be over so they can get away," the source explained. "Everyone's been thinking that for a while, I think.

"Players are scared of [O'Neill]. They think he's responsible for Lote being sacked but no one's game to say anything. They're shocked at it. I don't know how they think they can sack him."

Wallabies breakaway George Smith added: "We haven't been in camp this week, so I can't speak for the other players, but Lote has my full support in anything he does or decides to do. He's a great guy and good mate of mine, so I'll support him all the way. It's disappointing what's happened, not just for Lote but the players."

Wake up Australia!!! If GS say's this, there are some serious issues.

Hardly surprising as the fish stinks from the head down!
