utp, I think (and have said on other posts) that we need one big, bad, mean mofo in the backrow. Once Elsom is back, I think the extra workrate of Brown is a bonus, with Palu to come off the bench as an impact player. With no Elsom, I would like to see Palu starting.

Just read about Lote, will be very interested to see how that story unfolds.

Yes, I pretty much agree with both of your comments (Froggy and TSP), with the exception of Lote...see my "Lote sacked" thread. The teams has almost sorted itself out.

You're pretty much on the ball, Froggy. I feel the same way about Cowan, Mumm, O'Connor and Q Cooper. These guys will be invaluable in the future, no question about it. They are just not ready ATM.

I think we have developed a lot since Deans has taken over and I'm looking forward to seeing some results this year. Just one thing, do you think Palu is a certainty. Do you think Brown did enough at no. 8 to start?

Cowan ?
Doesn't he play for NZ lol
I think Tiquri will definatly get a chance.Deans is just trying to make him hungry and realize that his international career is not a certainty and he has to work his guts out to get back in.In saying that Mitchell and Turner have not put a foot wrong so lote has a lot to do.
Tahu is a toughy,He has the skills but when and where would u play him atm.Barnes owns the 12 position atm and his kicking skills give the Walla's so many options so I don't know if we will see him unless for injuries.I guess he can cover for 12 and 13 and wing so he is versitial.
Moore is in good form and unless he gets injurded Palta nou will be back up,but what a great player to bring on later in the game.

Just thought I'd post a few thoughts on where the Wall's are up to after the lead in tests

Firstly, while there is still plenty to improve, I thought all Aus supporters should be pretty pleased with where we are at, and the overwhelming positive is Deans coaching. He is starting to get this team playing his style, this sort of change doesn't happen overnight, and I would suggest it is progressing well.

A few players who were contesting positions really stuck their hands up, I guess for me in the forwards that was Robinson & Horwill, and in the backs Burgess, Turner and A/Cooper. These guys I think have assured themselves starting positions for the start of the 3N. In addition, of course, a lot of the established players showed they are in pretty good touch.

A few players were given an opportunity and, imo, didn't really grasp it. I guess I'm thinking of Polota-Nau, who still can't throw a ball into the line-out, Cowan who was great around the paddock, but is still well below international standard in the scrum, Mumm who, while he hasn't done much wrong, has yet to really put his stamp on a game despite plenty of opportunities, and Q Cooper, who at this point I just don't think is an international footballer.

I give James O'Connor a mixed report card at this stage. He certainly has an amazing future, but at this point doesn't deserve a spot on front of any-one in last weekend's starting line-up, and I'm happy to see him on the bench.

Finally, Tahu and Tuquiri, if Deans had no intention of playing them, even off the bench, in any of the 4 lead-up games, why were they in the squad? It's not as if they're youngsters who will benefit from training with the side. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy with the backs Deans has selected, I just wonder why he bothered to put these two in the squad.
