The plot thickens!
French media are questioning the veracity of the accounts given so far and believe sackings could result given French team manager Jo Masso has in fact now suggested Basteraud's injuries came about after a fight among players.
French rugby officials are now carrying out further investigations and it appears Maso, delegation chief Jean Dunyach and the team doctor could face the sack, Radio New Zealand said.
French media have also reported Bastareaud was pulled out of the Seine over the weekend.
He is said to have told friends he could not cope with the scandal, which has become an embarrassment to French rugby authorities.
"He sent me a text saying he couldn't stand this harassment," said Mathieu Blin, a teammate at the Stade Francais club. "Now he's completely gone off the rails." |

hmmm is story number 101 true???
I think this guys dodgy trip away has come out in the family circle who are supposedly very religous. He's probably been condemmed by the family. Do feel sorry for him, he's young and it was just a stupid mistake, and as far as I can tell he's the only one that got hurt.
Mind you I wouldn't be surprised if the story changes in a couple days??
Who knows??? |

Not funny anymore. I hope Bastareaud gets the help and support he needs. Just goes to demonstrate the spotlight these kids are under. He did a dumb thing, but for it to escalate to this is verging on tragedy.
I think its about time the hyena press packs re-evaluated their morale role in events like this. We've all screwed up - especially when we were young, but a young guy with the world at his feet should never feel such despair that he has to end it all. |

BREAKING NEWS: Paris - French centre not punched by team mate, eye gouged by Springbok
"20 year old French centre Mathieu Bastareaud was sent home from the New Zealand tour for lying about being eye gouged by Springbok Schalk Burger.
The two were seen clubbing in Wellington, trying to hit on two she-men who looked remarkably like Justine Marshall and Alison Baxter.
A fight ensued in which Burger beasted Bastareaud"

It's pretty funny reading these threads....I'm sitting back in my mango tree having a Fiji rum and coconut.
A few minutes later i see pots and pans flying out of Australia over to Nz.Couple of days later a few sheep bleet past on their way to Australia.....
Three days later the pots and pans are turned into abstracts and sent to New York and sold for thousands of dollars.....
5 days later the sheep from Nz turn up at Woolworths in celophane and a black tray. Now why the hell is lamb so expensive when you f@ckers get it for free.....?? |

Darn Ghost
Thats Brilliant news about DC
so the ABs for the first SAF match will be something like
1. Woody 2. Hore/Mealamu 3.Afoa/Tialata 4. Thorne 5. Ross 6. Kaino 7. McCaw 8. So'oialo 9. Leonard 10. Carter 11. Sitivini 12. Nonu 13. Smith 14. Rokocoko 15. Mills
What were we worried about. And with the likes of Ali and Kahui to come back in the long term suddenly the last months blooding session looks pretty good.
Arrrh the world is good once again lol |

Denial? I was trying to portray hope, but hey I shouldnt expect convicts to understand the difference ;)
My point was regarding the loosies - sure we lack a test-hardened 7 but I think the personnal we do have are adequate for the job.
Front row is no problem:
Afoa
Mealamu
Woody
Not sooo much different than front row last year, no-one was complaining then. As far as back ups go theres cro.ckett, de malmance (probably best hooker in the country, sure he cant throw straight, but neither could oliver & he played 50 odd tests)
Wingers - sivi will be back at 11 for 3N, smokin joe will light up again too plus cory jane is the man
12 - wtf?? Forgetting Nonu - you know, that raging rhino who took you boys apart last year
I get your point - were not as strong as in the past, and we lack depth in key positions. But the only problem im concerned with is 10 for obvious reasons - we tried Donald McDuck but no-one told him its not supposed to be funny, we tried lucky luke...maybe they forgot to rub him before the match, cuz no genie-us came outta that bottle |

There are no excuses. I said that they did not play well.
Facts:
1. Their captain is out
2. They have 7-8 guys out injured
3. They have had a huge exodus of players to big contracts off shore
Those are the facts and Henry has build a team around the players that he now has at hand. AS a result he has a number of inexperienced players that are being blooded for future tests.
Gale, you sound like you have some kind of axe to grind against GH. Again, the tall poppy syndrome comes to mind. He is good so there are those critics how want to bring him down to size. I would not have minded in the least if the NZRFU would have canned him and brought in Dingo, but they did not.... and so, he is our coach at the moment. For that reason I support him. If at the end of the season he has not performed, then I will agree with you. He delivered last year when a number on this thread were criticizing him at the beginning of the season. I think that he will deliver this year. If he does not, his position will be tenuous and he will loose my support. Until then, he is the AB coach with an outstanding record. It would be good to hear you say the just once Gale. You seem to have you sights fixed clearly on GH and won't be happy until he is gone. Is that because he consisitently has had a team that has beaten the WALs in the last 6 years?
Blessings

I love chatting with you Kiwis. Nice to hear the Missus ain't that easy Ghost - she's always acted very shy you know... (joking bro'). Hey, good reply though.
On matters rugby, you guys come up with all manner of weird stuff when you're in denial.
How about Ghost & Mex re-read what you've just posted? Maybe read each others and then see how ridiculous your excuses are.
The most important position on the AB team - No 7 - is not covered. Several other key positions are shaky at best: front 3. No 8. No 10. No 11. No 12... hell, I'm an Aussie so I can't count past that.
Mex. If you have key players injured, the team you put on is your A team. If you have no depth, they are in effect a B team. That is the AB problem. Wallas - for a change - have got a bit more depth - even with several big name injuries.
does that make sense, or are you guys still in la la land?
Ghost, |

Gale - i assure you it wasnt offered 'easily' as you put it, its a privilege offered only to visiting foreign dignitaries, hallucinations, mascots (not gay ones eg "tah man"), B2 (not B1 for obvious reasons), joaquin phoenix, hugh hefner, al bundy and now Mils.
Btw if everyone wanted a go at once, Mils would get 1st dibs.
Oh & ABs have no loosie problems IMO, except that all the depth is in specialist blindsides - read, kaino, messam, thompson etc Behind McCaw is a big leap in experience back to latimer & whitelock (big raps on this fella). No 8s wtf knows?? Looks like they will either persist with read there or bring back rodders, either way im happy |

Bit harsh Gale,
They did play like a "B" team but a lot of the "A" team was not there as they were injured. How many did they have out with injury 7-8. That makes a "B" team. I would not be lulled into thinking that this form will continue when the WAL's meet the ABs in Eden Park. Do that and you will loose. However, if they ABs don't pick it up, they will loose.
Of course my money is still on the ABs.
Blessings

| I wouldnt say its just the loosies, its the whole forward pack looking disjointed (or maybe too many joints?), nothing wrong with the personnal its just the likes of read, latimer, kaino, ross, messam, afoa, crokett etc etc havent played together, and it looked like it |

The French liar must be in a world of hurt. His friends family and teammates alone will being taking so much p1ss out of him!
And when he gets back onto a rugby pitch, he'll be in for it.
Mex, the only difference with your argument about winning margins over Italy is that the AB firsts team looks & plays like a B team, whilst Aussies actually fielded their genuine B team. LOL! |
