What a great 3N this is shaping to be. The number one side, the AB's, stumbling a bit but with a number of their best yet to return, The Boks looking pretty good in a tough series with the Lions, and the Wallabys looking all class, although against suspect opposition.
And the coaches, Graham 'is he great or is he a joke' Henry, the best provincial coach in the world in recent times taking over an underpeforming enemy, and a stark raving lunatic who, never-the-less seems to win football matches.
Bring it on!

Strange post about Lievremont Jordy. Didn't they just knock off AB in Dunedin? Didn't they just unluckily fall short in Wellington? didn't they just take home some Kiwi silverware?
Wallas defence was awesome. Ref was an officious dill who cost both teams. No advantage to either, but he had a negative impact on the game.
What I liked most about the game was that they remained calm for the first time in a very long time under pressure. Instead of doing stupid things like kicking for touch instead of taking a shot, they calmly took the conservative approach and slotted penalties. That took enough pressure off them to be able to maintain their patterns and be comfortable with the fact that they didn't score any further tries - they didn't need to.
I wasn't convinced straight after the match, but the more I've thought about it, the better I think Wallas were. French weren't exactly lying down... |

| Well played Wallabies. It wasnt the prettiest game I had ever seen but there defence was good. I dont no what everyone else thinks but for me the verdict is still out on Leivromont. I really think the French should get another coach the French havent really played that well since he has taken over and he doesnt stick with the same team which doesnt allow cohesion or combinations which was proven in the six nations. Get rid of him now |

Yeah. Pretty solid performance. Not very spectacular, but a tough, rugged test match.
George was very good, as usual. Barnes solid in midfield. I also thought our scrum was quite strong. We did get penalised for "taking it down" once or twice. I can never figure out how the ref can always judge who is at fault. If we were reeling backwards, yes, understandable.
The defence on both sides was strong all night. Yeah, I think we can give the ABs a run for their money next match. Although our record on Eden Park hasn't been crash hot in recent years. |

Very haps with that effort. Not that I'm Nostradamus, but it went pretty much as I predicted (only a few points out with the score too) . The frogs beaten by a very structured defensive effort- They never looked like scoring in that second half. Would have been more tries if they hadn't infringed every time we went on attack too. Perhaps they were a bit jaded after two hard games, but you can only play whats in front of you.
Looking good for Eden park in a few weeks. Bring it on. |

I think you'll find that Brown - if he's on his game - is very good at crossing the ad line and bringing several defenders with him. I rate him higher than Palu, but not Elsom when it comes to attack.
Although Palu is a 'wrecking ball', he's lazy and goes awol a lot. Elsom doesn't and neither does Brown. |

| Yeah i think Robbies gonna play his back row out wide. Maybe the 2 and 3 channels.keeping the ball away from the big french fowards coming over the top. It will require alot of quick ball but Walla's need to keep the ball going wide,1-2 wide and back in. Make the french run, run and run to each break down. As per Timmy...their strengths are in close so as long as the Wallas keep them in their halves and pin them in the corners...they should contain them. |

I can understand the logic,my only concern is say Brown gets injurd,it would mean a reshuffle with Smith probably going to 8 and either Waugh or Poc@@k comming on.We have seen how powerful the French were in the tight and breakdown area.Their scrum also had the Blacks back peddling the entire game their rolling maul was also effective,so for me i'd have a tough nut 8 as backup. Not sure who but Mumm isn't the man for me at 6.
Just thinkin out loud guys |

Yep exactly Ado and i think deans will start adding speed and agility to the team rather then the bulky forwards who have nothing in the tank after 60mins. fair enough being big helps but having the ability to beat the bigger forwards to the breakdown is exactly what Aussies need for turn overs. Though the scrum may be a bit ligther and could face some problems but it all comes down to getting technique right.
Walla's by 2.... |

Loosies dont bother me in defence, I think the current combo is great in this aspect. Where they lack is the ability to punch holes with the ball in hand. This is where Palu and Elsom are so good- They always break the line or take a few defenders out before popping the pill.
That said, Palu is back a club rugby this weekend and Elsom is only week or so away too. I think this injury break will be exactly the time off Elsom needs too. He's played a lot over the last year.
Back on the subject, my thinking is that Deans wants a high paced game for 80 minutes. His thinking is that the frogs wont have the legs (pardon the pun) after their last two starts which is why he's picked 3 open side flankers.
Makes sense to me. Any side that is coming of the back of two intense games against the AB's is going to hurt in the last 20.
Throw Waugh and Po *** in at this time and France wont win a ruck in this final period. No ball, no win. Simple tactic, but one that i think will work. |

I am worried about the size of the backrow.Mumm is hardly an imposing figure,Waugh isn't a big guy and Po *** isn't huge either.
I understand Dean's logic of thinking they'll be tired/long tour etc but they will leave nothing in the tank and weather this back row is capable is debatable.
First you need to be imposing at the breakdown, and with no Palu and Elsom i hope Deans isn't assuming too much there.
The rest of the squad looks great it's just the loosies that worry me.
Don't get me wrong I hope it works but these guys are Test ready and they gave the AB's a touch up so i hope Mumm and the loosies in general and their size is not an issue. |

True story Jam,
French always dangerous and could give Wallabies a pasting if not careful.
That's why the forwards are so important: tight 5 have to smash 'em at the set piece and loose 3 have to smash 'em at the breakdown.
If not, Wallabies will probably lose. |

Wrong Jam.
Smith & Brown will be the difference, with P0c0k & Waugh on the bench. although Latimer played well last week, he is not in the same class as any of the above.
Burgess should then be able to provide good service for Gits. |
