Give Aimee a break guys. Its obvious by the poor grammar and spelling she is lacking upstairs in the grey matter department.
Henry did make some dumb selections (Rokocoko, Toeava) but the main problem for the AB's at the moment is injuries. Ironically over in NZ nobody really got too upset by the result. Many expected a loss. |

Aimee,
Mark had it right. Back up you point. It is hard to argue with the winningest record of any international coach ever. That said, he did not make good selections. However, to not lay any blame at the players feet when they played bad is putting your head in the sand. You argue with passion but lack substance.

Aimee
What are you talking about??
Critise Henry, fine but back it up. What "selections" would you have made??
"He picked props that cant run" Woodc**k scored the try that won the tri nations running down the wing last year.
"His appauling record as ABs coach" He actually has the highest winning record of any international coach. He's lost more then 20 front line players in 2 years and yet we are still the No.1 ranked team in the world.
What players would you select. Dont just run someone into the ground and then not be able to back it up.
In response to the thread. Im very nervous about the game. French played awesome last week.
Go the ALL BLACKS! |

Kiwi,
Henry got it wrong at the selection table and he got it wrong because he didn't pay attention to the rules. NZ got monstered at the breakdown because Henry picked a backrow combination out of position. He picked a props who cant run against a mobile front row. Despite having so many players out with injury he ignored those ex AB's who had done the job before and opted for untried talent. Even then he ignored the form of other untried players who warranted a look in.
The biggest endightment though is how he totally ignored the fact that the rules had changed. He didn't coach his side to deal with mauling and they paid the price during the game.
You and all you other K1 mates can put blame on the players and to a degree your right, but Henry is a fraud. Fred Flinstone could do a better job than him and the more you K1's dig your head in the sand and ignore his appalling record as a n AB's coach, the better it is for us.
I hear they're going to re-appoint him again too. What a laugh. I reckon the K1's will get up this weekend and only because he has at least made some decent (but far from perfect) selections.
Wont be much in though. |

One other thing.... the ABs tradtionally do not play well on the first game of the season. Sometimes the players need to anti up and take responsibility. The coach is not always to blame. In this case, the players did not play well. That is their fault and not GH's fault. They get paid the big bucks and need to take responsibility in this.

I don't think GH left it too late. I think he played players out of position and did not pick on current form. Righting those problems will help the ABs play a lot better. A game changer in any rugby game at the moment is the open side flanker. I think that Adam Thompson makes a better no 6 than no 7. Picking the prop Afoa and hooker De Melmence on form will also help in the tight five.
It was a coaching error but not one based on not blooding new players, but not picking the right combinations for the team they were up against. Of course, hindsight is great when you have had the opportunity to see the opposition. Now that GH has seen the French the ABs will adjust accordingly.
Blessings

mel,
Can't disagree with anything you are saying. The big questionmark for AB is more a matter of depth. Henry has clearly left his run too late in terms of blooding enough new talent for this year's international season.
He will be hoping like crazy that they suffer no more injuries and that the guys who ate filling the breach in the meantime can fast track their development at this level.
As much as I feel for you guys at the moment, Wallabies had injury problems and no depth from 2004 till beginning of last year and our team had to get thru it.
Only difference is that NZ has many more players at their disposal. Question is, can Henry and his team leverage that quickly enough? |

| I think the All Blacks big problems are in the front row. Woodck needs a few more games, wouldn't mind giving De Malmanche a go at Hooker.. and Tighthead is the big problem. Just think how much better the side would look with Hayman there. Other than that... a few games to adjust back to the new rules and players back from injury (carter, mccaw, williams, sivivatu, smith, leonard, so'oialo) and there will be no problems. |

C'mon Gale,
The ABs don't normally loose two in a row on home soil. Furthermore the French don't normally play two good games in a row. The ABs will come back with a vengeance this week. They have a lot to prove and they will prove it.
Blessings

I was really surprised the AB's lost this game.
Even with all their injuries they normally play out of their skin in a Black jersy.
I tink they were out muscled in the scrum and the French mauling was really good.No surprise that they mauled better as we in the S/H haven't done it for a while, but normally the Black scrum is an attacking weapon.
Front row probably has to take some responsiblity for that(it didn't help that Hore went off after 10mins).Tialata and Woodc@@k/Mealamu need to lift their work rate.If the forwards arn't going forward the backs don't get good ball and it's puts pressure on everyone.
There should be some players returning this week.
Kaino and Smith should get a start u would think at the expense of Macalister and Reed.
I expect an AB turn around this week.Backs against the wall time and I expect them to put in a much improved performance. |

I think it's fair to say that the French are the AB' bogey team, particularly at WC time (the same could be said about the Poms for Aus), and so it has proved once again. It doesn't seem to matter too much how either side has been going up until they meet, it's almost a psychological thing.
Having said that, it is rare indeed that the French string two top performances in a row, so my money is on the AB's.

If any team is capable of turning it around, it's the AB.
By the same token, French have achieved their key hurdle of 1 tour win. They have less pressure on them and should have more stars back for the team this weekend.
I won't be surprised either way.
In fact, the Wallabies - whom I believe the french were aiming to knock over as their 1 tour win - are in for a crack-a-jack game Saturday week. |

Gale,
If you base the result this weekend on last weekends performance then you would have to say the French could very well take the two test matches. And rightly so.
It may be an even greener side this weekend with some changes due to injury, there is a media rumour going around that Smith may be back if he passes a fitness test which would bolster our backline.
The Allblacks are capable of turning this around and I hope they do, they will have to first improve in certain areas this week. If they improve there ball retention at ruck time and lower there tackles about 2 feet, they will have a better shot at winning this one. Remove the silly drop outs that always make me nervous and have a decent chasing game and they will be far more competative. Donald needs more time obviously, look how long it has taken Gits to develope into a test 10 that comands the backline.
Most of the physical changes are simple but to change there mental state will be the biggest hurdle, they will be under imense pressure and in a game like this you can not buy experience and that is where we will be lacking the most.
The coaching staff have done this before with there resounding turnaround last year against the Wallabies. The new boys know what they are facing in intensity so I expect them to be slightly better prepared. Either way this is going to be one very big game!
Go Allblacks! |

The great AB have been caught short talent wise.
Regardless of how much depth they have in the playing ranks, you can only field 22 players at the highest level per game. They have the same constraints as everyone in developing world class players.
So I wonder, have they really been caught short? How quickly can their up- and-comers step up to this level? Can the kings of inconsistency - France - back up for a historic 2nd straight win on Kiwi soil? |
