The prosecution wishes to submit as evidence the 2nd test match played in the Republic this morning.
A classic test match played in GLORIOUS daylight.
A true contest played in ideal conditions.
That's how it should be done.
Congratulations to both teams - well worth sitting up for.
Tough break Kip.

I'm with you on the ref Muzz - woeful game mamagent that affected both teams. Idiotically pedantic Pommie made the game all about him.
There were 4 great tackles in that match: 2 by Aussies - Brown & Smith. 2 by the Frogs on the dipshyte ref! LOL!

The prosecution rests.
Another two stunningly cod-ordinary night test matches. Just when you thought the AB's were gone, the Robbabies produce another bore-fest against the "shot-my-load-in NZ, now-when-does-the-plane-l eave" French - all cleverly orchestrated by another pendantic no-flow English twat.
Test match rugby is IMO a complete waste of time.
Especially at night.
Don't you just love watching scrums reset?
And what about those magnificent penalty goals - all 7 of them.
Compelling viewing.
Can't imagine why people fork out good money to watch this rubbish.
I reckon that the (day-time) Bok's- Lions series is the only one worth watching currently.
God save the Tri-nations...
The game they "play in heaven" - for the (brain) dead.

Muzz,
You're petitioning the wrong crew. Target should be Fox: they determine virtually everything.
And seeing as they are far-and-away the biggest source of revenue for ARU/NZRU/SARU, good luck with it. |

I've been travelling around for the last couple of years and haven't seen much rugby (or cricket. Or league. Or AFL) at all, hence I've stopped commenting on anything. I just got back to Australia last week, and this thread inspired me to get back in the scrum. It's something that has been annoying me for years. Muzz, you couldn't be more right. The difference in day to night matches for everyone concerned should have the powers that be looking into better scheduling.
(But they won't)
P.S. Watch out for the Reds next year! Or the year after. or the year after...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when William Webb Ellis picked up the ball and ran, I'm fairly certain that it was during daylight hours and not under floodlights.
Riddler - as self proclaimed font of all knowledge - can you confirm?

Unfortunately muzz due to the new fandangled work policies and more people now working all day Saturday the powers to be have made the executive decision to hold the matches at night time for the crowd numbers and also the TV ratings etc blah, blah, blah
Good luck with the petition. |

Once upon a time, many, many years ago,
rugby union was played during the DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unless it rained - there was no DEW ON THE GROUND!!!!!!!
Scrums didn't fall over ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The ball wasn't ALWAYS WET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
Players didn't SLIP OVER ALL THE TIME WHEN CHANGING DIRECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!
The temperature wasn't always such that players had to wear THERMAL UNDERGARMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!
rugby could be played AS GOD INTENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
it was the game they PLAYED IN HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it was good to play and just as good to watch.......
Now - it is played at night and it sucks.
Super 14, test matches .... they are all shockers.
I am formally petitioning the IRB to re-think night matches.
TV audiences/ratings - F%&K-EM!!!
I'd rather watch a replay of a day game than watch paid professionals screwing around at night.
At least the South African's get to watch rugby in daylight...
Muzz
any takers? |
