Happy days!

Ado, Alison & Justine have now got a girlfriend! LMAO!

Sprout, I'm suprised you're so negative mate. I'm no fan of Hamburgler 1 either, but you gotta admit he brings some much needed experience to the Force front row. He, Fairbrother and Cowan look much stronger than Castle, Hardy and the outgoing Hamburgler 2 (AJ Whalley - whom I really liked as a bloke, but was only a 30 minute player).

I agree with Chop. Gits is the best attacking footballer in Australia, but seems to have been a handful to manage wherever he's been.

TSP,

With the departure of Gits and Mitchell I think it will be less factional next year, it doesn't help having Primo Donnas (excuse spelling) in the side even if one of them was a super star.

Chop,At this stage u got no First five,O'conner hasn't signed yet but u got Matt Dunning.I'll agree with Ado that it's been a long time bwt drinks for an Oz side to win the S14 so good luck to u.But the side is hardly settled yet.Last year there was some issues with the coach, but he came home with a wet sail
IMO Brumbies have the strongest looking forward pack for next year

Shame on you Ado, do I detect a nervous jealousy here...The Force are starting to look pretty good for 2010.

Gale, I'm not a big fan of Adrea's as well. But I think he will really suit the style of play Mitchell wants to create. The forwards will be arguably the best pack in Oz and will give him time and space.

A back line of Sheahan, Pretorius, O'Connor, Cross, Cummins, Sare and Shepherd will be pretty dammed sharp too. If Ione decided to come back, well that's even better.

Here's hoping it gets sorted soon.

Having always disliked Andre Pretorius and his stupid trademark 'wink' after kicking/dropping goals, I now UNRESERVEDLY love him.

C'mon Andre. My next door neighbour's a Jaapie too! You'll love it here mate!

Re:How nervous does Craig Gower look Reply to this message
Hey Ado,

I'm not as happy as I was yesterday, have a read of this.

The Western Force have denied a report they have re-signed teenage sensation James O'Connor for the next two Super rugby seasons.

Force chief executive Vern Reid said no deal had been done with O'Connor, despite a website report on Tuesday suggesting the talented utility back had signed on.

"I've just been made aware of the story and, while it would be wonderful and most welcomed news if James had decided to stay in Perth, at this stage we have received nothing official from James or his management," Reid said.

O'Connor had previously stated he would hold off on a decision on his future until the Force secured a five-eighth.

Wasted breath Gale. Our friend Z's has apparently gone on a boating sabbatical for a few months. Could get a bit boring here without our jousting partner.

Anyway your point is 1000% correct.

Re:How nervous does Craig Gower look Reply to this message
Z,

Why do I think GH is overrated? Simple. A 'great' coach knows when to rest his big guns and blood new talent. Henry quite simply has shown no ability to do this.

He has been a typical slave of the insatiable NZ public, unable to risk a loss until he virtually has no choice and his best players have been run into the ground.

His poor attempt at this has been a dodgy rotation policy that hardly swapped their big names, meaning it inadvertently put even more pressure on them to cover as well as bring thru the others.

As far as his record goes, can't argue with that. He has been blessed with some of the best ABs of all time over that period though.

Zedds,

I would have had Afoa and De Melmanche in there. If you pick on form they should have been chosen. Blood De Melmanche now so that come WC he is ready.

Blessings

Mel

Re:How nervous does Craig Gower look Reply to this message
Gale,

Even with his failure at the WC which I attribute to him and not playing a consistant line up during 2007, he has acheived 2 Grand Slams, Smashed the Lions, won every Tri and bled on offer, super 14 titles, succesfully turning around Wales to there longest EVER winning streak at that time, Coached the Lions and took a game off arguably the best Wallaby side in there history and ran them close in the final game.

This is not the resume of an average coach.

Why is it you think he is average, it is an easy statement to say but I challenge you to make me a beleiver.

Re:How nervous does Craig Gower look Reply to this message
We would probably agree with a few more things if you didn't rant like earlier in this thread.

I totaly agree that the three sixes were a mistake, never said otherwise, pointed it out before, during and after. However there were mitigating factors such as our first two number 7's were out injured and our only number 8 was out. Latimer could have started but instead they took a punt on Thompson having given him a run there last year and based on his S14 form where he was one of the better pilferers in the tournament.

The bigger mistake was as TSP stated, not defending the maul or not having a clue how to set up a maul. This is where the French really dominated us and personally I don't think it is something you can fix in a week.

Re:How nervous does Craig Gower look Reply to this message
Great news re O'Connor Ado!

Re Henry, you'd better re-read my posts: I reckon he's made a HUGE mistake in not blooding young/up-and-coming talent a lot earlier. He is a wily old goat, so may be able to retrieve the situation, but not much more than an average coach IMO. I've never liked him.

Apart from that, the team he fielded last week had the potential to win and I read that you didn't rate the players. I disagreed with you on that point.

Cheers

You'd be a happy man Gale. They just resigned O'Connor. One down, two to go. if they get Pretorius and perhpas Ione they Mitchell will have a very serious side.

Re:How nervous does Craig Gower look Reply to this message
Sprou did you say Henry made a mistake? OMG someone actually agrees with me. He stuffed up full stop. And Zedds, Gale and co don't want to acknowledge he did. Fortunately for NZ he has seen the error of his ways and picked a far better (but not perfect side) this week.

BTW the reason Jones picked Smith and Waugh had to do with two aspect. The first was to pressure Spencer who didnt cope well with it and McDonald who was playing out of position at 13 at the time. The second was to negate the impact Ritchie was having.

If you recall we got thumped in the first Bledisloe. Then jones made the change and we got within a try in the second in Auckland and won the third match which was the semi of RWC.

Didn't have to do with covering both sides of the park but having the first guy to every ruck and maul contest.

Re:How nervous does Craig Gower look Reply to this message
Totally have to agree with you there Zedds, moved from the backline last year to play at 7 and soon found out i was a better blindside then an openside.Maybe becuase i'm 37 and don't have the speed to the breakdown as i should.Openside is not as simple as you all think and takes some good reading of the game fitness to be everywhere. What george smith and phil waugh did was play half left and right so they covered only half of the feild so that didn't have to be everywhere...because thats what a 7 does...every breakdown no matter where it is.

Re:How nervous does Craig Gower look Reply to this message
Agree zedds,6 and 7 are completly different positions and not many can switch from one to the other.Phil Waugh could never play 6 as Thompson isn't a 7.Henry made a mistake with that.
He has a much better mix this week and they need to do the biz this week,
I for one hope they do !
