| I like Leonard starting at halfback and Weepu coming off the bench. |

Stephen Brett.......?
The sight of the fit-again foursome of So'oialo, Richie McCaw, Sitiveni Sivivatu and Andrew Hore gave the All Blacks an encouraging look on the first day of a two-day Wellington camp in preparation for next Saturday's opening Tri-Nations test against Australia.
Less so was the sight of Luke McAlister sitting out most of the session with a continuation of the stiff back that kept him out of North Harbour club rugby last weekend.
Canterbury's Stephen Brett spent most of the session at first-five with Piri Weepu also getting plenty of time in the pivot's role. |

I would have
9 Leonard
10 Donald = do well behind a pack going forward
De Melmanche on the bench and Hore to start
Rokocoko out because not an inform player
Other than that, the team written below |

Dirty,
<<step aside Zinny>> BIG call mate! Can Ross punt over a drop goal or do a Gearge Smith grubber? LOL!!!
Where is Leonard? Halves are suspect and I'm unconvinced with Smith's form this year, probably due to a succession of injuries.
Interesting pack. Hore a great option. Will be intrigued to see how close Henry et al get to your side and what impact McCaw has on the forwards pack, and the whole team. |

AB Team I would go for in first Tri Nations game.
1. woodcook (experience)
2. hore (Kevvie is good, but just not quite as good as Hore at this stage of his career)
3. tialata (needs to step up though)
4. thorn NB
5. ross (he's a star this kid, step aside Zinny)
6. kaino (goes forward more than any other "current" option)
7. mccaw NB
8. so'oialo (apparently in the best shape of his life)
9. weepu ( has overtaken cowan IMO this season, leonard didn't quite do enough for a spot)
10. mcalister ( toss a coin, but if donald has an injury then he's a shoe in)
11. sivivatu NB
12. nonu NB
13. smith (half fit he is still our best option)
14. rockocoko (he has not been retained only to not start, he'll be there with gear on bench)
15. muiliaina NB
16. mealamu 17. afoa 18. krockett 19. eaton 20. latimer 21. cowan 22. gear
Would go for a 5-2 split with the the return from injury of mccaw and so'oialo, full front row replacement because woodcook has been suspect because of the ear infection. Eaton would cover lock and loosie, Latimer a specialist openside, and Weepu will cover 5/8 if necessary. Gear's form has been superb in the PNC, he should get a bench spot. |

Bish,
I'm a Donald fan, but for some reason he seems to struggle under pressure. One thing he smashes Los on is his D. Donald is a mongrel tackler - I like that about him. He's also a big, strong ball runner with great leg drive in the tackle. There's a lot to like about him - for a K1.
I don't think he has had the luxury of playing behind a go-forward AB pack with McCaw at the helm. Hopefully, he and AB other no 10s won't get that opportunity either! LOL! |

Gale
useless piece of Info
ABs have never lost a bledisloe cup match when los has started. I found that pretty amazing.
Do think Donald has a long way to go to reach los. Macca aint a 10, he's a 12 simple as that. |

Macca & Donald are a bit like Los - not good under pressure. We all know that, but I don't reckon that's the issue.
Without McCaw, they were looking pretty sick because Boks & Wallas loosies were gonna be all over their halves. But with Mccaw back, and probably Rodders, they should have a half second extra to set themselves. Seeing as Macc & Donald are no mugs, that may be enough to get their outside backs onto the front foot.
Should be an absorbing battle... |

Given the injuries they are contending with, it looks a good squad. A lot of players coming back from injury without a lot of footy under their belts, but given their class (Richie, Rodney, Sivi, Smith), I don't think that will prove too big a setback.
The big question is 10. Can either McAllister or Donald step up to the level needed? I guess we'll all know in a few weeks.

All Blacks Tri-Nations squad: Forwards: Aled de Malmanche, Andrew Hore, Keven Mealamu, John Afoa, Wyatt *** ett, Owen Franks, Neemia Tialata, Tony Wood *** , Jason Eaton, Bryn Evans, Isaac Ross, Brad Thorn, Tanerau Latimer, Richie McCaw (captain), Jerome Kaino, Kieran Read, Rodney So'oialo.
Backs: Jimmy Cowan, Brendon Leonard, Piri Weepu, Stephen Donald, Luke McAlister, Ma'a Nonu, Conrad Smith, Isaia Toeava, Hosea Gear, Josevata Rokocoko, Sitiveni Sivivatu, Cory Jane, Mils Muliaina.
Donald is out with a hamstring injury so McAlister is going to start. And there lies the problem.
Masaga and Messam dropped, Gear and Eaton in. |

Rhino,
You firing up again mate? Hope so. I'm much happier now that you're talking to me.
Mate, I'm just a lazy Aussie. Can't be bothered lodging my tax returns and even if I did, I'd leave the cheque sitting on my desk for a year until it became unbankable... |

Spoken like a true Kiwi Mex. Why don't you come over to Aus where most of the other jobless K1s (sorry, I realise that's a tautology) are and claim the dole?! Hey, too bad you just missed out on the $900 govt handout... actually, you are probably still entitled to it!
LMAO! Cheers bro
