Agree Gale, and why didn't Steyne get pinged for taking out Mitchel while he was in the air? Maybe Bray thought a busted nose was penalty enough?

Re:3N Winners 08 Reply to this message
Tahu at 12 is intriguing. Hope he gets the run because the team is on the front foot, which takes a bit of pressure off him, enabling him to play his natural game.

Surely they can't be serious about suspending Rocky for the foul on Victor.
Has anyone EVER been suspended for dragging an opposition player out of the line? Victor didn't even land on his head...

Good to see your coming around to my way of thinking Nicolte. I have a sneaking suspicion we might just see Tahu in at 12 this week for Barnes. He has an amazing ability to put players through non existent gaps. I'd also like to see Butch get a bit of his own medicine.

I still reckon were a gallop short of the AB's, but nice to see the boys on the improve after a dismal few years.

Re:3N Winners 08 Reply to this message
Matt Giteau had an excellent game having to step up when Barnes left the field. Their combination and kicking game has been steadily growing and they compliment each other very well. It will be interestng to see if Giteau can do it all by himself next week if Barnes is out.

ado, Tuqiri has now entered my Top 10 wingers list, he was very clever the way he scored that try by way of rolly polly hahahaha, and his allround game has definitely improved this year.

It was a good solid performance all over the park from OZ, nothing really outstanding, methodic, systematic, and patient, who could have instilled this mindset I wonder? hahaha

gale, I agree, there is nothing much between AB's and Wallabies....or SA for that matter, the Brisbane game (no matter of the outcome next week) will be a cracker, I can't wait. Hopefully OZ's gas tank wont be empty and it will be a great exhibition worthy of the #1 and #2 ranked sides.

GO THE AB'S !!!!!!

Re:3N Winners 08 Reply to this message
Oz can set up a cliffhanger if they win next week and going on form alone compared to SA they should get over the line.

A win will put them on 17 but with a bonus it will be 18.

This opens a whole lot of outcomes in Brisbane where the Wal will once again have home advantage.

Australia are in the box seat and there destiniy is in there hands. A win next week will make the job easier and a win with a bonus point will make it tough for the Allblacks.

As much as I would like to see Da Village idiot lose another game, it would be nice if they could manage a win. At this stage for me it is Oz to win next weekend because SA are a rudderless rabble. A bonus point win is not out of the question.

The reality jimmy is PDV is doin the best job he can...he's the obvious one to bag but he's a victim of political appointment just like Jake White was...sport needs to be accountable to the base of the game not government policy....that policy should be directed at the games base not at the elite level.....

Re:3N Winners 08 Reply to this message
Actually, for the first time de Villageidiot sounded somewhat humble following last night's loss.

Maybe it is the air of arrogance they've carried around since winning RWC07. But that now seems to have van1shed - which is good for them. I feel sorry for Matfield - he is shouldering Captain duties and it doesn't seem to be his gig, yet he got booed.

If anything, crowd should be booing CJ & a couple of others like Burger & du Plessis who - under pressure - forgot the spirit of the game and degenerated into a series of dirty tricks. A shame, because they are all excellent players.

Re:3N Winners 08 Reply to this message
personally I think the coach is the problem. If they lose this weekend then maybe he'll get the early sacking the over-confident big-mouth deserves. They have the players and the depth it's a matter of harnessing their energy which DVI hasn't figured out yet. Just riding of a few good years of work from White and co.

England played well in their first couple of games post WC before turning into the joke they did. SA seem to be following the same path

<< I reckon they will turn out like England after their WC win in 2003. An international rugby joke.>>

remember that they beat you on your home soil then pushed the WAL to a close loss a week later on the trot. They've had two painful losses at home which is terrible, and have fallen incredibly out of form after the Argies triumph.

Quite a strange & unexpected drop of form really...

I was wrong alright. Seems the Boks like getting embarassed at the moment. I reckon they will turn out like England after their WC win in 2003. An international rugby joke. Usually I would not touch the Aussie in South Africa but if I was having a bet next week I would probably stick it on them. The Boks are pitiful

Panther almost spot on. Riddler the opposite end. But it was a hard contest to call in Durban.

One thing we all know now at least - Boks can't win it, so it's down to Wallabies & AB.

Money would be on Kiwi at the moment, but you wouldn't want ot put your house on it...

Jo'burg will be interesting.

Re:3N Winners 08 Reply to this message
I expect the Aussies to smash a couple of cars....throw ice at their opponents and get thrown out of every night club in SA.

Then every player to get banned for testing positive for coke.

Thats probably the only way the boks are gonna win this weekend...

Re:3N Winners 08 Reply to this message
I expect the Boks to get fired up next week. This loss was humiliating for them and they know it. They lost the Freedom Cup which they havent seen since the first year and they know they could have wrapped up the Tri Nations with a win. It will be tough and ugly against Aussie and they will get over the line.

After that its off to Ellis Park. Despite having to play a third tri nation game in a row they will be doing it at altitude where they are incredibly tough to roll.

Boks to win both, get a bonus point from the Ellis Point game. Aussie to maybe get 1 point from next two games.

<Also, Wallabies get a week off to recover prior to facing Blacks in Brizzie>

That's just laziness that is!!! lol

I think you're right though, that's the beauty of rugby, you never know what might happen on the day, at this level little mistakes cost big time, and it can all go "all right" or "all wrong" on the day, dependent on whether or not the Gods of sport favour you on the day.

Nic,

Very scientific analysis that makes sense.

Not sure what happens over the next 4 weeks will make much sense.

Also, Wallabies get a week off to recover prior to facing Blacks in Brizzie.

Re:3N Winners 08 Reply to this message
Whether OZ win or lose over the next 2 weeks matters not, the Tri will still come down to the last game in Brisbane, the only question will be who the AB's will be fighting against, SA or OZ.

Anyone putting money on OZ this weekend may as well just flush it down the toilet!!!! There is NO WAY SA will lose against OZ this weekend. Right about now the post mortems are being debated in SA and the humiliation of being kept scoreless is ringing in every SA's ears. They beat Argentina scoring 63 points 2 weeks ago, and could not manage a solitary point against the AB's. They will be getting cricified by the media this week as only the SA media can, come Saturday the BOKS are going to be foaming from the mouth and I think it will be a dramatic turn around.

AB's 14
SA 10
OZ 9

The following week the BOKS will be on their 4th straight weekend of playing and will be feeling the pinch, OZ to grind out a hard fought victory after being pummelled the week before.

AB's 14
OZ 13
SA 10

AB's fresh after watching SA and OZ bash each other to death for 2 weeks, AB's finish the strongr in 2nd half and retain both Tri and Bledisloe

AB's 18
OZ 14
SA 10

That's my predictions anyway :-)

Re:3N Winners 08 Reply to this message
Close competition isnt it? After the ABs performances over the last 2 games, they could still lose the 3N to either OZ or SA.

It will come down to the last game in Brisbane.

<<As for the tri nations, thats as good as in the bag now>>

don't count your chickens yet buddy... You had a good win in Capetown but a win in Brisbane won't be quite as easy. If the Wallabies win one in SA then win in Qld it'll probably head our way.

Re:3N Winners 08 Reply to this message
From the IRB site:

A win by more than 15 points, though, could see their tally improve by just over two points and take them out to around 3.2 points above South Africa, who would slip closer to the Wallabies – their opponents in Durban and Johannesburg over the next two weekends.

Thats 3.2 points clear in number 1 spot!!! We wont be losing the #1 spot for a while to come
