PS Chisholm seems to have cracker S14 seasons, then gets selected for the Wallabies and makes critical mistakes. So personally I dunno at I'national level... let's see if the same thing happens this year eh?

Just watched the replay, yep another valiant performance from Horwill. He should definitely be in the Aus 22. I'd imagine that could play him also at 6 and 8, depending on his position experience. Definitely has the physique. He should be at least on the bench. Would select him over Sharpie any day of the week...

I'm not getting to carried away with the Reds performance last night. The game changed entirely when Deans put his big guns on the park.

Croft was great as was Horwill & Turinui. But that's where the quality ends in the Reds.

Good on em for having a crack, but they never looked like they had it won at any time during the 80.

with you on that Ado.

Not sure Hocking will be fit though.

Saw him at the game the other night. Scary - with his lank blonde hair and big head he looks like... Schalk! LOL!!

I'm with Gale on this. The Chisolm Vickerman combo is the best on offer. I also think Horwill will hte the 3rd choice lock. Sharpe has experience. but the guy couldnt run a bath let alone break a line. Neer been a fan and never will be. I'd rather see Deans pick Hocking, Wykes, Campbell or another youngster rather than persist will him.

Horwill has got a hot head but boy he works hard. So does Sharpie, but I think Horwill works harder and gets over the gain line more. Just my opinion.... not convinced on his lineout ability.

Can't see Horwill getting a call up over Sharpe - he snaps to often.

Sharpe had a strong game on Saturday night, with some excellent tackling and ball carrying.

I would pick Chisholm with VIckerman at this point (although Chisholm looked a bit average against Stormers). Cambpell had a better game.

Nothing wrong with a Vickerman Horwill combo.

Deans will pick him, he will want the best he can get in the first year and involve others once he has a handle on the team for the following year. He doesn't have enough time to trial new faces in the second row as now he will certainly be in the S14 semi's.

Vickerman has been our best second rower since Eales. In my opinion he challenges Matfield as the best lock in the world. It's a real shame he's leaving both the Wallabies and the Tahs. He will be missed. Watch our lineout fall to pieces once he goes. Sharpe has never been anywhere near as good as him in the lineouts, so if Sharpe is the caller I think we'll be in trouble.

Although as always, time will tell.

Horwill looks similar to Sharpe, strong ball runner (particularly strong, actually), high work rate but lacks finesse in the lineout. I know the lifters play a big part too, but Qld's lineout is one of their biggest weaknesses. That and their defence.

Vickerman gives away to many penalties (international rugby especially) with his temper so I doubt you'd want him. And if hes going OS like you say then there isn't much point.

Yes to Horwell getting a locking spot. Probably with Sharpe.

I don't know if Vickerman will get a Wallaby spot this year cos he's heading OS and won't be playing in the S14 next year. There's a chance Deans et al won't pick him. In which case you'd probably have Sharpe and Horwell.

We'll have lineout problems if this happens though, I'm predicting.

Horwell has played really well this year.albet in a losing side. His performance against the Blues last night was great. He has really stepped up since the captaincy and would be a great partner to Vickerman.I've never been a huge fan of Sharpe, and Chisolm hasn't played as well this year either
