Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
Just read your messages Sprout.

What a shocker against the Reds. What an awful way to end your hopes of making an impression in a year that is so important not only for the obvious reasons, but over here the Eagles & Dockers are having bad seasons. An opportunity to garner AFL supporters for a winning side has gone begging.

Force have a lot to answer for in that loss.

Gale. With the Reds missing there big names this week-end,do you see a score blow-out or do you think it will be relativly close. To me the Force should win by 10-15 points but the reds with the pressure off them might stsnd -up on the night. It will be interesting to see how Horwell goes as captain for the Reds

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
Spare,

Tahs are best defensive side in comp. We did well considering loss of Gits after 20. Gives me (and hopefully the side) a lot of hope in a game we let slide.

Tahs also had some freakish luck with 2nd try & Shep's double-poster penalty miss.

Also, Lote finally decides to play on that night.

Noone trashed us in the media. Hopefully Mitch & boys take big pluses out of it and win remaining games.

JIMBO - great win & great to see you back bro'

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
Annoying match. We almost won but probably didn't deserve to as we could seem to turn possession into a try. We spent ages up in there half suring the second half only to let them score a try the first time the went near the line. Defence was week and the offence looked out of ideas.

Just glad Gits is alright, that freaky thing he was doing with his fingers when he was out, didn't look good.

"For the Tahs Burgess is the key. Future Wallaby skipper."

Future Wallaby skipper??? Future Wallaby maybe, but Josh Holmes will have a say in that. Skipper is a massive call!!!

Great win from the Tahs. Pity for you though Gale ;-)

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
Although the Tahs are slightly in front in the personnel stakes, the Force are a better coached outfit and a far smarter side tactically. Expect them to take on the Tah's "strength" in the scrum and disrupt it. For the Tahs Burgess is the key. Future Wallaby skipper.
Force by 7.

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
the weak point for the Tahs tonight will be the centres.Lote is playing out of position. They should of put Sam Harris(is he injured?) on the inside and Tom Carter on the outside

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
This is such a hard game to pick,I only hope the game is not too defensive.I do think the Tah's have an edge in the forwards even without Elsom. It's the backs clash which will be interesting.I personally would have had Tuiquiri at 13 to mark Cross, and Horne/Mafi on the wing.Cross needs to be stopped out wide.

Zedds,

Great summary (although I reckon Force have been just as up-and-down as Tahs).

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
You answered your own question there Panther. Why wasn't he picked earlier...He plays for the Beasts. Who is the natural enemy of Easts? Randwick. Where do Link and Louden come from? Randwick.

Call me cynical but we've seen it before.

I was with you on that same Burgess bandwagon after I saw him the ARC. A good game tomorrow will see him in the front running for GG's job.

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
No one heard of Burgess until last week.I was harping about him last year when he joined Melbourne in the ARC.(being the next Aussie halfback)He is an awesome player for Beasties in Sydney.I just don't why the hell was he not thrown into the game earlier(unless he was injured)I think the link chooses his team by the toss of a coin sometimes...Honestly

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
You would like to say home groun advantage would swing it but they don't really have any. They don't have a great history thier.

Both teams have had there ups and downs, mainly downs for the Tahs. The Force have been more consistant, the Tahs have had one good game really, this weekend will show where they are mentaly. I can't pick it so I am going to have a guess.

I'll take the Tahs because they played so well last week, if it wasn't for that game I would have said Force all the way. Funny old game rugby, the Tahs could just as easily crash and burn this weekend.

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
Interesting thoughts Ado. Here's a counter: -

Force have the lightest pack going around, but manages to stand up to all but Stormers pack 2 weeks ago. Not sure they will play like that again.

No doubt NSW forwards are their strength, but they won't dominate lineouts and they won't dominate ruck & maul.

Their big chance is the scrum. They have an awesome scrum (despite what our Kiwi bros say). The Force's scrum is always under pressure because of their lack of size, and technique.

Force will try to continue running their "loose-pods" at NSW midfield if they can get good ball and get it out there. Bulls & Stormers however managed to contain this for much of their games.

It'll be close. Head now saying Force, but heart saying our boys may still be struggling with the 'Subi hoodoo'. Too close to call.

Should be a great game. Hope I can boast about the atmosphere on Sunday after a big bonus-point home win by our boys...

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
For the Tahs to win this they need to do exactly what they did last week and dominate up front. They have three genuine talls in the linout and in the scrums they have a front row that gave it to the all AB's front row last week.

The Tahs forwards were punishing in dfence and their attack at the breakdown was as good as I've seen from them all year.

That is the start and end of the contest. If the Force forwards can stand up to the Tahs and get 50% or better, then the Force will over run the Tahs backs.

Apart from Lote and Sammy 2 Dads there is very little experience and a The Force backline will shred them if they find themselves going backwards.

If I were Aussie John I would be aiming Brown and Bam Bam directly at Beale and Horne in every first phase play of the first half. I'd also be looking for Giteau to lob a few high balls in Turners direction. Drew Mitchell, Cross and Shepherd are all pretty tall and would have a decided advantage in any leaping contest.

NSW job is simple. Dominate the rucks, mauls and set pieces then attack close in with the big men.

If Burgess, Beale and Sammy can then take it to the line regularly the score could be a blow out.

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
Will be interested to see Rob Horne shape up. He reminds me a bit of Nick Cummins with his fast step. He is also young like Cummins, so may make a few mistakes (hopefully that'll work in Force's favour).

Was pretty impressed with him when he came on for NSW last week - he had an immediate go-forward impact which has been missing in Tahs midfield. They are great defenders, but have lacked creative spark.

Perhaps it's all to do with Luke Burgess - he was certainly the key difference last week. If he stays injury-free and keeps up this form, Sheehan will not start again.

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
Toss a coin to decide this one.
Robbie will watching this with 2 hats on. Both teams could be in the final and therefore the Crusaders opponents or could make up the bulk of the Wallabies team. If the Force lose this one their chances will take a nosedive. My picks are so up the sh!t this year I wouldn't even bother trying to pick this one. So good luck to them both.

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
I don't think that the Tah scrum is going to have it's own way at all. The forwards held their own against the saffers.

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
Yes, agree with your head.

To my mind it might come down to the packs. The Tahs should overpower them especially if Cliffy plays & Dunning retains form at tight head.

Also for mine Chris O'Young will be killed by Luke Burgess.

Re:Force v Tahs Reply to this message
Well, It's only Monday, so I'll wait and see how Link structures his backline with the loss of Jacobs. I don't like the thought of sending an 18 year old kid with 24 mins of S14 in to face an in form Ryan Cross. But then I don't like the idea of Lote in 13.

I'm also a little reserved about the Gitz Vs Beale test. Beale was outstanding last weekend both in attack and defence, but it was the first time in a year and a half of footy he's played that well. And he's only running 58% with his boot.

I don't think the Force forwards are a patch on the Tahs front 8. And Burgess will keep O'Young and Gits on their toes.

So all that said, I'm leaning towards the tahs in a close one. Just depends on the make up of the backline as to the difference.

Force v Tahs Reply to this message
Should be an All-Aussie Blockbuster.

On form though, the Tahs look the goods.

Heart says Force, Head says Tahs.

Thoughts...
