Farce. Yep Zedds. THat's how we played.
Shocker.
Thought Reds were doing the old "fire up and get angry at the other Aussie provinces because we hate 'em" thing, but their follow up against the Chiefs in Hamilton was inspiring.
If they continue to keep that attitude, they could cause some more upsets this year... |

ouchy... just watched the replay. Force were really in disarray in that second half, just couldn't finish anything! Drew Mitchell has got to learn to keep his mouth shut.
It was good to see Qld win though, they've had a tough few years. I don't mind that they win as long as it's against everyone apart from NSW. |

GK,
Wish I was Nostradamus. Too close to call.
Really looking forward to being at the biggest "yawn" game of the week. LOL! |

Saturday is the arguably the most important game in the Force's short history.
A win will not only bolster their finals aspirations, it will: -
- cement them as the premier Australian club
- bury the 'home game hoodoo'
- rekindle local support for the franchise (only 21,500 turned up last week)
- give them psychological ascendancy over the Waratahs
- put their players in the reckoning for key Wallabies positions all over the park.
If they lose, everyone will say, "I told you so". |

We are simply not yet a 'Force'.
At least (for the time being anyhow) we are no longer a 'Farce'! |

Sort of agree with Panther's "Hmmmm" comment.
Before the match, a few mates were expecting Force to put Stormers away - I told them I had a bad feeling about it. Stormers most under-rated side in the comp.
Am hoping this is Force's one 'bad' game for the year. As much as I had a bad feeling about last Friday, I have a good feeling about this Friday. Reckon Force are going to fire and finally put away a side at home - and it's gonna be the Bulls. |

I remember after the 2003 Sydney Bledisloe, Tana Umaga said to the press he wasn't at all happy as the ABs' had just revealed how they intended to win the world cup later that year.
The return tests against the Boks and Wallabies were both close calls and certainly did give plenty of warning the Blacks had been found out. |

The AB's got beaten in the second return Bledisloe match in Auckland that year.
We went from a 50-11 drubbing to a 4 point close loss in that match. Jones knew he had the AB's beaten then. He picked two opens sides to combat the AB's outside speed.
To be honest that's where the Aussies generally beat the K1's in the big matches. In the upstairs department. |

I was at that game hifromhim and I'll never forget at the 68th minute the big screen showed a close up of Mitchell and the look on his face told me it was over.
The man looked utterly shell-shocked and I felt a mixture of anger at this failure and sympathy for him.
I'm not going to argue about how Mitchell stuffed up because I think the same way.
But surely he would've learned from this, the same way Henry failed but I think he'll learn from his mistakes.
It's kind of pointelss to argue about this anyway as it'll change nothing. |

I didn't have any quibbles with Mitch being dropped after the 2003 world cup. It wasn't just disappointing that the ABs lost to Australia, but it was also the way they lost. The ABs were finished in the first half. They spent the whole game looking shell-shocked. Leading up to that semifinal, the Wallabies were written off and lambasted by their own media and Eddie Jones and Gregan were in the gun. The Wallabies had nothing to lose, they were playing on home turf and like all top Aussie competitors, they had the lil Ozzie battler thing in their heads. Why then were the ABs shocked that the Wallabies proved so formidable? Seems to me that the AB camp believed all their own hype (and rightly so) as well as digesting all the bad press about Eddie Jones's men. Somehow the Blacks thought the Wallabies were going to be a cake-walk. It is the job of the coach to fire the players up and put them in the right frame of mind. |

| Yes, Mitchell has done quite a good job with the Force and he also did well with the Chiefs back in 2001, which led to him being selected as the ABs coach in 2002/2003. Problem is, there seems to be a pattern of brittleness with Mitchell led teams. On the one hand he has the ability to lift a teams performance, but on the other hand all these teams tend to break in the finals. I won't label Mitchell as being a 'great coach' until he actually secures the silverware. |
