| PS The Force did a great job getting back into the game to clinch the win, scoring 29 unanswered points down 22-zip. Well done. |

Just watched both Blues/Canes & ACT/Force and I thought the Blues/Canes was a cracker! One of the better games this season that I've watched... How good was Rudi Wolf in defence? Made a real difference towards the business end of the game. Canes were impressive but just dropped off too much in the end. Started awesome. Gear's first try was awesome how he sliced a hole straight through the defensive line.
ACT/Force was good, but not quite as enthralling... reckon NSW/Qld will be better. |

| Only the second game I've watched the Canes play this year and first I've seen of the Blues. Disappointing. They don't look any better than they did last season, and for the Canes - the season before that, and the season before that... Both teams were outstanding in defence, but nothin there to trouble the Crusaders. |

2 great games so far tonight. More to come.
As predicted, Blues/Canes match one of the season's best.
Force did a Houdini, giving up 22 points then scoring 29 without reply.
Come on Tahs & Stormers! |

| Yes Jimmy, the World cup is a tournament, the Super 14 is also a tournament. You say the best team doesn't always win. How do we define the best team? Yeah, I take your point, NZ cleaned up SA and Australia in Tri-nations last year. Infact NZ has dominated both Super 12/14 and Tri-nations since both tournaments kicked off, but we have also choked at several world cups. The Chiefs beat Canterbury in Hamilton and also beat them down your neck of the woods last season, yet they failed to make the semi and will probably fail this season too. The canes beat your lot in 2000,the wellington lions won the 2000 NPC and the Canes achieved the impossible beating the Crusaders down at Jade in 2001. Yet both 2000 and 2001 Hurricanes teams failed to qualify for the super 12 playoffs. Defining the best team can be open to interpretation. |

| Tough luck for the Hurricanes. Blues were a tough team to beat. Boric, the Blues lock, has been in some good form this season. Thrush had another good game for the Hurricanes. Close encounter, good match, good crowd. |

"Gotta agree with Gale on this one...
The Hurricanes are fragile end-of-seasoners...
I'll pick the Blues to win next week... Hurricanes to run out of puff- as usual.."
Hurricanes ran out of puff as predicted...
Will be lucky to even make the semi's now...

I've always had a soft spot for the Canes. See alot of similarities between them and the Tahs... both under-performing teams, have had many promising seasons that have fallen apart, however marginal. BUT I'll be going for the Blues, only to favour ladder position for my team.
But all the best, eh? Should be a corker... |

"Jimmy, I don't buy into that excuse that the Saders were off their game that night. They were just beaten fair and square."
No we weren't. The Reds crumbled under preasure and got found out. We had five internationals on the bench. You take away that many stars for an entire half for any team and then fill their positions with 19 and early 20 year olds then yep, that kind of thing happens. Ask the Aussie teams. The scoreline could have been much, much bigger had the younger players held onto their catches. If the Reds were good enough to beat us then they would of. But they didn't. Instead they HAD to resort to dirty tackling and slapping the ball out of the opposition hand. |

" we accept that line of reasoning, we would also have to accept that England, Australian and South African teams are superior to the ABs because they have a better world cup record over NZ."
Hifromhim, you're logic is messed up mate. Sorry...
World Cups come round every 4 years. Tournament rugby often results in the best team losing before the final. The Boks, for example, lost 2 games to NZ last year, including a 33-5 drubbing in Christchurch, and a win in Durban. And away wins in SA come tough... Many people would argue that NZ was a better team than SA last year. I still think NZ were the best team, and that they have simply been cursed playing knockout tournament rugby. Apart from the fact that French pass was clearly forward and the Frogs shouldn't have won that game.
S14 rankings are reflective of a number results following week-in-week-out rugby. If your team is 7th, then they're probably 7th best. The Chiefs have been beaten by the Lions, Force, Stormers, Hurricanes & Blues. There's a good chance they'll also go down to the Sharks this weekend. So not a huge shock they'll probably miss out on the semis. Although a perfect reason to make the finalists 6 - the Chiefs would give any of the top teams a scare in the finals.
Also, the Saders WERE off their game that night. Cheifs played awesome! Given... it was also great to see. BUT the Saders had arguably their worst game this season, if not a few seasons. Their performance against the Reds is a close second. That was a pretty ordinary performance as well. Without their stars they are no different to any other team. |

| Consistency is the problem at the Chiefs. . . . . Or are they in fact the most consistent team in the comp? Consistently inconsistent! |

| Jimmy, I don't buy into that excuse that the Saders were off their game that night. They were just beaten fair and square. Were they also off their game when the Chiefs beat them down at Jade last year? You say the Chiefs can't be that good because they're not very high in the table. If we accept that line of reasoning, we would also have to accept that England, Australian and South African teams are superior to the ABs because they have a better world cup record over NZ. |

I would love to see the chiefs in the finals. Unfortunately the odds are against it. It could happen but it is unlikely. Being from Hamilton, I am a huge supporter of the chiefs. I was there this year and saw a game live. They have all the potential in the world but potential does not win games. I am still hoping that things work out and they manage to get in. However, I think it is wishful thinking. If they do get in, and the game is against the Crusaders, it will be a good one.
Blessings

Sorry to say, but the Crusaders were well off their game that day against the Cheifs. Take them on in Christchurch with their team at full strength and they've got as much chance as the other top teams. They probably play the most similar style (to the Saders), so can damage as easily in broken play.
BUT if they were as good as some of you Chiefs supporters say they are, they'd be higher up on the ladder. That's the truth...
PS I still love seeing them do well. |

Hey Mel,
I was offering my congratulations to the Saders in a mood of defeat. Really wanted to see the Chiefies make the semis. They are the team that could topple the Saders and realistically I don't think anyone else is in the frame. If nothing else, a chiefs/crusaders final would make for a great match. So what's your thoughts Mel? Who do you support?
Blessings to you too. |

| Mel your right bro. any team is beatable at any given day but if history has any saying in the matter, the Saders at home in the finals is going to be a monsterous under taking. I can't see the sharks , stormers or the tahs beating them at home. Reckon only an Aotearoa team can beat the Saders in the final rounds > Canes maybe |

Hiforhim,
That is not the point. It is not good enough to be the favourites. You still have to win. I think the Cantabs are the best team in the contest but they still have to have a higher score on the day. .... Until then, they are beatable. Probably not a likely chance but a chance none the less. So to announce them champions already is premature - that is my point.
Blessings
