Waratahs beat *** mbies 24-17 in torential rain in Sydney.Difficult game, fairly close, lots of errors.Although the Tahs forwards were great in defence.Gerrard for the *** bies was good.

Come on man, If the AB's had won it last year, I would nearly guarantee a WC hang over BIG TIME...but it never happened as per bloody usual, so they are aggressive and hard out and all of that, which they should be cause they didn't win you know what AGAIN!!! The Saffers did it, good for them etc etc blah blah blah. It's not old hat, it's in the records, 2nd WC for the Saffers, 21 years since the AB's last *** *n win.

kwhauwhau,
I will agree with you in that our SAfrican teams must catch a wake up. Quick.

I have the opportunity to go to all the S14 games staged at Newlands in Cape Town and have to date walked out on Stormeres vs Bulls and Stormers vs Crusaders.

Primary school Rugga has looked better. Maybe I should be hoping and saying early days???

I do not see it having to do with us winning..... u know what. That's old hat. Unfit, undisciplined and a lethargy as I have naver seen will cost us bigtime.

Hoping the Sharks will pull something out of the hat though.

The Tah's haven't quite got it but I think they will be a force. The 3 NZ teams, we know who we are, they are in with a chance and looking very good. The Saffers are still on a high for winning you know what.... they better snap out of it or they will be out of it . The Ozees better pick it up or it will be a one two three to guess who???

Master,

Are you referring to the club academies? e.g. over here we have the "Force Academy".

The ARU programs are state based now rather than being centrally based with the elite youngsters training in their local capital rather than going off to Canberra.

The ARU has a very strong program through the AIS for elite youngsters. However that dork Kevin "I've never played a game of sport in my life" Rudd and his fiscal henchmen just put the knife through a 25 million dollar rugby academy that was to be based at Ballymore in brisbane.

mark my words here kids. *** Costello will be back before the next election after Labour has decimated the economy. You heard it here first.

And as for Hux, I wish him a speedy recovery. Not something any 28 year old wants to find out.

Re:Super 14 thread !!! Reply to this message
Just going off the subject, what is the ARU doing to promote the game in Australia for the young? also another Question, I know that the AFL take there talented kids to the Institute of Sport to train them up, does Rugby have a spot in the Institute for up & commer's?

Ive got alot respect for Hux's, played in the NPC back home for a little while.

Agree with most things ado,but the Tah's Line-out against the Highlanders was rotten.I know the conditions were bad but they lost heaps of ball that way.Hopefully the game is an open affair and we get to enjoy some running rugby. My Tip: Tah's but only just

Re:Super 14 thread !!! Reply to this message
GK, I'm with you. I htink the Tah's on home gorund will be too strong. The Br/umbies Vs Reds game left a lot to be desired in terms of a forward battle and that's where the Tahs will get over them. The tahs work in tight hasn't been too bad. Scrums, lineouts, rolling mauls, pick and drive have been pretty good this year.

Als otheir defence close the the contest has been great too.

So if all goes the way I think it will and its a dry track, then I'd suggest th tahs by 15 at home.

If their backs actually get their act together, it could be anything.

The tahs mid field/ ourtside defence against both the canes and chiefs
was pretty solid, so the Bru/mbies backs won't getthe latittude they got last week.

Here's hoping.

I have been away and out of touch with the forum but did come across a comment from MrsGK. I suspect it to be nicotinedirtylungs as he won’t talk to me any more and he has a history of changing his ID to wind people up. Anyway I did have a laugh at it. Actually just happy that someone would want to be my wife. Makes me feel loved.

If I did have a wife and she was to have her say it would be something like this.

GK, I think the . . . . . . .
Shut the F@#$ up wife and get me a beer. And don’t open your mouth again while the Crusaders are playing.

Re:Super 14 thread !!! Reply to this message
Gale how can you lose valuable meters when you can't kick for touch on a free kick. The defending gets to reset their defence and the attaching team loses the momentum they had...

By the time you tap and run you would of made at least 5-8 meters and at risk of a turn over being isolated...The other is going for the scrum....the only advantage is the attacking team is 5m behind the scrum....but again the defensive team would have time to reset themselves...It will turn the game into a stop start affair all over again..."Mark my words"

Ado. How do you think the Tahs will go against ACT this weekend?

Despite running in 6 tries against the Reds I didn’t think too much of the efforts of Fizzers men. I believe the Tahs and ACT game should be a close but ugly encounter with the winner being the team that makes the least mistakes.

Re:Super 14 thread !!! Reply to this message
Ok let's have a moment one Waugh. Short, has worse hands than Simon Poidevin (aka Venus de Milo) and the vison of a blind bat in daylight. Apart from that he's a great openside.

NSW has to do something about their backline. It's not working in any way shape or form.

I say persist with Beale until Sammy 2 dads gets back. Bring Harris into 12, Tahu into 13, Jacobs on one wing and Lote on the other. That keeps carter on the bench until the last 30, when he should come on at inside after the game loosens up.

But then, they won't, so its academic anyway.

Panther,

"what did i say two weeks ago...the new rules will promote alot of negative play at the breakdown......it's a free kick...it's not worth anything....""

Not sure I agree with this. The guys who are giving away frees are giving away valuable metres and on occasion tries. This would not happen in the old game. They haven't got used to it yet, but they will - when they keep losing games because of stuoid successive frees that see their team pushed back 70 metres and on the end of a converted try!

Re:Super 14 thread !!! Reply to this message
Even Waugh plays stupid one-out rugby. Did you see the last Tahs try when he had two guys outside him and he decided to jink in looking for a possible glory-try, then had the sense to throw out to (Harris?).

Tuquiri is highly over-rated - NEVER runs straight and doesn't seem to understand the subtleties of running lines for outside backs. Waste of money.

Agree with whoever said Beale is under too much pressure. Send him back to grade for a year to learn the basics at that level...
