If Joesevata Rokocoko and Sitiveni Sivivatu were to have a race(100m)I garantee you it will be over real quick.Ever since Sitiveni Sivivatu made the allblacks in 2005 there was that saying going round and round who do u think is quicker Rokocoko or Sivivatu?Daaaaaaaaahhhhhh hh who do you think.Because acording to stats year 2005,06,07 apparently Sivivatu was the slowest wing in the allblacks. Now lets do stats.
There have been 4 wings in the allblacks since 2005-present all the same faces too(Not including Ma'a Nonu). In order quickest to not quite the quickest.these were the stats I found out.And also the fastest Allblacks ever.
#1.Joesevata (Taliga) Rokocoko 10.17sec 100m,6.39sec 60m,4.66sec 40m
#2.Rico (Levi) Gear 10.33sec(done at crusaders 2006 pre-season training)100m,6.35sec 60m,4.55sec 40m
#3.Soseni (Raymond) Anesi 10.53sec 100m,6.51sec 60m,4.53sec 40m
#4.Douglas (Charles) Howlett 10.68sec 100m,6.45sec 60m,4.60sec 40m.
#5.Caleb (Stanley)Ralph 10.70sec 100m,6.54sec 60,(40m time not recorded).
#6.Isaia(no middle name)Toeava 10.74sec 100m,6.55sec 60m,4.51sec 40m
#7.Sitiveni (Waica) Sivivatu 10.78sec 100m,6.59sec 60m,4.62sec
#8.Jonah Tali Lomu 10.83sec 100m(His other sprint times says they were not recorded).
Also Christian Cullen was quick in his day but his stats are not quite good enough to make the top eight.
As you can see Joe Rokocoko has the best 100m time but one of poorest 40m times. He really needs to work on his acceleraion. While wing Rico Gear who been the quickest in world rugby for 60m dash with a best time of 6.35sec. |

loci,
10.17 was I assume done on a track with spikes on , Dwain did 9.87 so there's a lot of difference. If however he did it on a rugby field with boots on then I simply do not believe it. Why do we not see him at the Olympics,The New Zealand record is only 10.11!!!!!!!!!!
At the same time if its anything like US football it will not have been times using the stringent procedures as in track and field. |

Yep 10.27 in 100m thats all i know.
But apparently in 2005 now ranked #2 in the world rugby for the 100m Joe Rokocoko has done a quicker time than anyone else with a time of 10.17sec in the 100m.0.10 quicker than Chavanga. |

Because he is a rugby player? Not a Sprinter.
#2 Doug Howlett(Auckland Blues) and Allblacks winger was a professional sprinter and wasn't even quicker than former Crusaders,Allblacks wing Rico Gear who was the quickest in the Crusaders at the time.
just to change the subject what i did'nt get is why did they put Rico Gear at Second Five eight when he was playing dor the Auckland Blues 2000-2004?Was it because of Rupeni Cauacaunibuca? He had a poorer 100m,60m,40m time whatever than both Gear and Rokocoko (not including Howlett)and isn't the wing for the speedsters? Why could'nt they just put Caucau at centre rather than Gear.
So yea I think that 2005 was the year that Joe Rokocoko was the quickest man in world rugby(not including league). |

| nah man if rokocoko was at his peak like he was in 2005 where he did 100m in 10.17sec 60m in 6.33 sec and 40m in 4.66sec he'll smoke chambers.Chambers would only have a good chance because Rokocoko has the poorest acceleration of all the allblack wingers but has THE BEST top end gas in world rugby. |

| said to be now the fastest player in world rugby witch i do believe tonderai chavanga is.Running the hundred 100m now witch he says in 10.5sec is still pretty quick and his best time of 10.27sec has no influence to allblacks left 'wing' Joe Rokocoko who did it in 10.17sec. |

Christian Cullen, Fast, elusive, great defender in his unstoppable.
46 International tries
56 S14 tries (playing for the Hurricanes)
His blistering pace and ability to turn the defender inside out were key in his sucess. A contender for sure. |

Panther,
I am not disbuting what you are saying as you are correct but what I am trying to get across is that the difference between an Olympian who in perfect conditions is CAPABLE of running 9.87 is so far ahead in terms of basic speed and sprint technique that even putting rugby boots on/running on grass/ball in hand/breathing techniques etc it is likely that they would STILL be capable of faster speeds than a fast rugby player. If you look at the 10.2 - 10.5 times that these other players are running , they are being timed on a track with running spikes on etc. So when they are running using a comparable basis as Dwain , he is half a second faster which surely would not be COMPLETELY negated by the various differences once you are in an actual game.
I accept, however, that we will not truly know until he does join Castleford (if ever). The only thing I can say is that in US football the Olympic sprint champions who then moved to us football generally were faster e.g. Ron Brown than their football counterparts. Different game I know but the comparison is the closest we can get.
Howver thanks for the discussion , as at least your comments were based on technical info which is relevent to this discussion. I still say Jason Robinson if you want a man who would beat any opponent (overall speed/power/elusiveness) to get to the scoreline , possible followed by Jonathan Davies from the 1990's or David Campese/ Jonah Lomu |
