ok guys i live in the U.S. and i lived in england up until a few years ago, im a huge rugby fan and a huge American football fan, i study the games intesely. anyway there is no way the fasted rugby player could run a sub 5 second 40 METER. but 40 yards and those numbers look right, the fastest recorded 40 YARD time ever by and NFL player is 4.1 and thats YARDS not METERS, i think everyone is getting steamed up over something thats been miss read, those times are 40 YARDS not meters, and by the way the scouting combine with the players fresh out of college have about 6 months of serious sprint training so they are as fast as you get.

here you are, choose your position and it shows the results from the combine. and these are SCHOOL KIDS, fresh outta college, with nowhere near the professional and intensive training the stars get. nearly all are sub 5 seconds, even the big c//unts. |

i got no references, cuz like i said, it was what i saw with my eyes or what i was told from someone who was there.
Thing is, why would i lie about this? serves no purpose for me that mini can run 40 in 4.1.
as for those nfl stats, KOB, i will be back in a sec with the scores from the NFL Combine held about a month ago, in which the top talent, FRESH OUTTA SCHOOL, ran 4.2 over 40 yds... i think... brb. |

If you go by television footage, which I assume is in real time, the Road Runner does the 40 meters in 1.8 seconds. Now that's fast!!! That's why Cayote has to rely on guile.

KOB, feel free to look at the times I said regarding Maurice Green. I know what I'm talking about and I didn't didn't make them up. And did acknowledge a sources for where someone could look them up.
My comments regarding the 40m times posted were simply comments, I simply said they are not right..i.e. Joe Rock and other wingers running them in 40m in 4.3s. I don't need a reference to know thats bullshyte, because I know the worlds fastest man can only run 60m in 6.3.
By the way 40m is different from 40 yards (incase u don't know).
Cheers |

| That was a very speedy run. I timed him @ 10.1 for ~80m..probably a 10.5-10.7 electric runner. He'd be a tad quicker than Rocket shoes I reckon. |

notsobig and all you other leaguies of what ever you are, post references! Did you not go to school until grade 8 and dont understand what references are?
Fact is, the fastest NFL players (with no gear on) run 35m in 5 secs maybe just under and those guys are alot faster than rugby players because they actually train in sprinting because its meant to be a part of their game (somehow). REFERENCE INSTEAD OF TALKING OUT OF YOUR BUTT!

Apologies, typo *50m instead of 40m
If you can run 5.51 in *40m, this would mean you could run 10.4 or better for the 100m. You would pretty much have would have a secure place in the australian 4x100m relay team.
5.51s for a 40m would roughly equate to a 11.4-11.5 100m. That is acutally pretty fast. I doubt anyone in the current wallabies line up can sub 11sec. |

Mate, I'm 5ft 7 and only 75kg so .. to be honest I'm actually abit intimated.
Seriously.
My stats on Maurice Green is correct it is ratified by the IAAF and the guiness book of world records.
From personal experience, I can run 7.2sec in a 60m race and run 11.3 in a 100m. 10.8 runners run 6.7-6.9 for the 60m. Green can run 6.4s and sub 10s in a 100m. NO HUMAN has been ever been recorded (properly) to run 4sec in 40m from zero.
If you can run 5.51 in 40m, this would mean you could run 10.4 or better for the 100m. You would pretty much have would have a secure place in the australian 4x100m relay team.
I simply can't accept that Min can run 4.1 in 4 secs...the measuring system is not right. You need to review your facts.
I would like to see these guys turn up to an athletics carnival and run a 60m. The timing systems used in athletics is the gold standard and is recognized internationally.
There are alot of people out there who claims they can run sub 11 for the 100m during high school and when it comes to walking the walk could only run 12.5. |

The timing system is two points at either end of the 40m, the first one goes off when u take off, the second one stops when u run through it.
Mate, i am 105kgs, 6 ft 5, and can run the 40m in 5.51. and that is by no means fast. Mini has done the 40 in 4.1, and since coming back from back surgery, has had his posture corrected and runs 30m in 3.5 seconds. FACT.
Buddy, are you sure yr stats are correct? cuz im going off what i have seen, and what i have heard first hand from people who were there. |

Mate I run the 100m in 11.3 and I reckon I'd go pretty close to Mr Minichiello over 40 and trust me it won't be in 4.1. If you can arrange a race off I'll be more than happy to prove my point. No disrespect to Anthony he's a great footy player.
Answer this, if Maurice Green can ONLY run 50m in 5.5sec how in the world can a footy player run 40m in 4.3 or 4.4, 4.6?
This copper must be pretty fast..but then again..you'll probably need to check the timing system at this police academy?..
You sir are the one full of ignorant shyte. |

djsle, you are full of shyte.
Anthony Minichiello, who plays league for Sydney Roosters, can run it 40m in 4.1 seconds.
To further destroy your supposed expert knowledge, at a certain police academy, the top time run by a student was 5.05. Thats for a policing student, and i was there, and it was timed through barriers, not human, and from a standing start.
You are full of it buddy. If a policing student can run it in 5.05 seconds, i dare say the fastest men in rugby would be able to run it in under 5 seconds.
Jerk. |

Hi All,
Long time reader, first time poster.
As an amateur sprinter and big time follower of athletics (and the ABs) I can say with great confidence that all of those names listed could not run the 40m in under 5secs!(assuming you mean from a standing/crouch start).
Let me put things into perspective. Maurice Green ( for those who don't know him: ex-world 100m record holder 9.79, world champ, 2000 olympic gold medalist etc) can ONLY run the 60m in 6.39sec and the 50m in ~5.5sec...and thats in racing conditions (spikes, starting blocks, tartan track etc).
Believe me, very few people can run under 10.7 those who can are dedicated sprinters. Take a look at the NZ, Australian national championships results.
I have no doubt some of these names would have barely been able to run under say 10.7 during their school boys days butI sincerely doubt any of these wingers could run under 10.7sec carrying 10-15kg of extra footy weights..in fact 11sec would probably be an accurate estimate.
PEACE. |
