11 seconds from the man himself http://www.i-soap.co.za/cars/article_01.htm
I think 10.4 seconds was the time it took you to make up a fake 100m time for Habana. |

I think Ngwenya's impact in this world cup is comparable to the impact Rupeni Caucaunibuca made in 2003.
When 'Caucau' scored THAT try against france EVERYONE was gobsmacked and, although not as good a try, a similar response from fans has happened when Ngwenya scored against SA... he also showed speed in the other games; his try against Samoa was special and he broke away against Tonga late on in the game (only for the move to collapse). |

TO HATTY156 and GRANT KERWIN
I apologise if my comments appear as arsy; i just wanted to explain to everyone that you cannot be ignorant and jump straight onto the Habana bandwagon, or any othe bandwagon for that matter.
I respect your comments, the last thing i want to do is appear as Mr d'ick head!
Perfecct example, read the old comments and see how many people say Bryan Habana, then read the comments after the SA vs USA game and look how many people say Ngwenya just because he beat their hero. Also look how many people defend Habana, it ridiculous!
The point i'm trying to make is how many people would have even suggested Takudzwa Ngwenya prior to the world cup???
That's naivity my friend! |

TO HATTY156
I'm no 'sprint expert', but i'm not naive. I understand the massive difference between rugby wing play and 100m sprints as I personally compete in both. I run the 100m at a junior level and i play winger for my team...
I not claiming to be any kind of sprint guru, but i'm simply using my own experience to identify where many people can easily be mistaken into thinking that 100m times are the primary judgement of who is the fastest rugby player. |

10.4 and 'around 11 seconds' is a huge difference! In a 100m race that equates to over five metres (over the height of a double decker bus)!
And I was simply trying to say that on the rugby field, regarding 'the fastest player' is entirely down to opinion. The only concrete evidence of speed is 100m times and, as I explained, sprinting on the track (where the soul focus os on technique) and sprinting with the ball in hand or just srinting anywhere on a rugby pitch (concentrating on the opposition, the timing of your acceleration, etc.) are two very different circumstances. |

FACT: Bryan Habana runs the 100m in around 11 seconds...END OF!!!>>
Isn’t 10.4 around about 11 seconds anyway???
Oh and mattlikesnothing thanks for setting out the rules for judging the fastest man. |

TO EVERYONE
when discussing the fastest player it is very difficult to determine. 100m time for example CAN help indicate how fast a player is, BUT they are by no means the be all and end all.
Some players are fast over a longer distance; gradually their stride can help them to evade players- an example would be Tom Varndell.
Some players are more explosive and have great accelleration, i.e, a younger Jason Robinson.
100m times DO NOT matter!!! I've seen many players with great 100m time get beat on a rugby field.
What must be taken into account is the STYLE of running. Sometimes, going flat out isn't the most effective way to leave your opponents. I play on the wing myself, and i have always learnt that mixing up your speed by running at a normal pace and then accellerating can keep you opponent off balance and ultimately out of the game. Campo being a prime example.
This is important to remember when reviewing many quick players today, the fastest off the field is not neccessarily the fastest on the field!!! Matt, England. |

Serevi was the best. Ryder is a carbon copy of him. Sadly the best players don't play 7's anymore because of club and S14 commitments, so the quality isn't what it used to be.
Oh and I'm not an ars/ehole. I can just know more words than 'ryder' or 'ryder rocks' or 'ryder rules'
This is getting rydiculous. |

Ado, the cost of travelling to Hong Kong prevented me from getting there (I had no luck getting a posting there during a 19 year career in the British Army)
The comment about "people from so many parts of the world. So pi//ssed" was certainly backed up by what I saw in the pubs of Edinburgh in 1993. The only difference was that the temp was approx 30 degrees colder than HK. |
