Just a note - Pierre Spies of the Bulls ran a 10.6 in grade 12 at school. Not bad for a bloke who is 1.94m and was well over 100 kg.

I think that Warren McCann was the fastest in rugby boots in the 90s. He played for the Transvaal Team (renamed "the Lions"). He had a PB 100m of 10.1 and was South Africa National Sprint Champ. Also registered a 20.57 in the 200m in 1990, and had a world ranking of 36. He is currently the Speed caoch for the Lions.

bouncerfreddy -
It is a rare occasion that Rugby League events make a significant impact on the national press, yet this week it most certainly has. The most infamous of British athletes, Dawin Chambers, has begun a months trial at Castleford Tigers. Many people have commented on this with respect to his ban for use of performance enhancing drugs.
In this case bouncerfreddy, thats an automatic disqualification, two years.... |

bro wasn't saying Habana is the fastest ( prob one of them) but I rate him as one of the deadliest wingers on the circuit. One on one (and face to face), its always going to be harder for the defender to shut down an attacker of similar speed when the attacker got space and a running start.

Soseni Anesi has a time of 4.53sec for 40m. Rico Gear 10.4. Gear would blitz Anesi over 100m because they say Anesi has top end gas which is not true. Anesi would beat Gear in a 40m sprint easy because thats what he's the best at.40m sprints.Gear would blitz him over 100m off course with such ease. Here's an example Joe roks blitz him a the beginning of the year in the super14 clearly. So Anesi can't run 100m in 10.53sec because everyone is judging their 40m times to their 100m times which does not make any sence.

Rico has a hand held 100m time of 10.51sec which nearly everybody knows. Gisborne boys high student Yarride Rosario has a PB of 11.03sec and is 15yrs old. He's out to break his favourite rugby player and idol Rico Gear's 100m record which has not been broken since he set it in 1996 at the age of 17 two years before he made his debut for the highlanders and NZ sevens team. 10.63sec was the record.

I also have heard the New Zealand wing Joe Rokocoko has a new 100m time of 10.44sec. Slightly quicker than his previous 10.66. And how about when that NZ sevens coach(Don't know his name)?...says that joe has *** ed 10.17sec which I can't believe is true. He has only been timed twice 10.66,10.44sec now his PB.

Doug Howlett 10.68sec 100m. Also former Auckland Boys Grammar student by the name of Kane Robertson(Italian Rugby)once teamed up in the 4 by 100m relay with Doug Howlett. Apparently Kane has covered a 100m distance in 10.8 which is fairly quick for a guy at 5ft 7.
