Yeah, I'm with you! Undoubtably Cousins IS a champion & always gives his best. Footy is his life & he is proving to everyone & himself he's got what it takes. You have to admire him for his huge efforts to get off the drugs & stay fit. I am one of many who say to him, well done Ben, keep it up & we acknowledge your strengths. Good luck & all the best, you can do it!

Thank you wanton, we have touched bases before today, but I was using another alias. you have cleared my confusion sufficiently. I was not aware that pollie`s need to put their oar into running of football clubs when they couldn`tun their own game. ominous times eh.

Re:Ben cousins a Tiger? Reply to this message
I am a West Coast Eagles "team" supporter and member. Not happy with the Board or the way the player was dealt with. Those that have read my posts, 3-4 years past will know this is consistent with me. I am an unabashed admirer of Ben Cousins the Footballer. I have admired his loyalty and incredible work ethic, his on field conduct and leadership by example. I am not "Robinson Crusoe" in that and I pledged in an email of support to RFC to pay for an Interstate Membership should they recruit him. I don't make any committment lightly. I too am loyal, to the players, they and the supporters are what really make the substance of what football is truly about. Some "Movers & Shakers" at West Coast are ignorant of that, I guess the appointment of Julie Bishop to the Board, she is also a sitting member of a "careless opposition", which was a "careless former government" is indicative of the gulf between ordinary members, the WAFC and some of the current sitting Board Members at West Coast.
We can't change the "culture" of the Board, but, we can vote with our feet figuratively speaking, and our wallets in gratitude to RFC for helping an "old mate" and loyal Club Footballer for us. Besides, if you can afford it, it's only money, humans and humanity, community values are far more valuable!
Once again, thank you sincerely RFC, Officials, Players and supporters, I believe you will be richly rewarded for this gesture of faith.

Wanton, please explain, you seem to be sitting on a fence here. On one hand you have been spreading the glory of the eagles in another thread line, and now you appear to be wearing another suit of clothes. just where are you sitting? dont tell me I have to go to two threadlines to read your missives.
However good luck to the tiges, I hope ben doesn`t let you down, I dont think he will, he sees the life line that the tiges have thrown him.

Re:Ben cousins a Tiger? Reply to this message
Well, I'm a financial Interstate Member, if I didn't work overseas so often, likely would have taken a larger package, but, I can give some tickets to friends etc. anyhow, so what the hey!

In an interesting aside, an unofficial figure I heard of 600+ new Interstate members, would if reasonably accurate equate to about $70K to $104K+ depending on the membership packages bought. I frankly found Tiger Memberships extremely good value.
Then apparently there has been a surge of past members and new Intrastate memberships as well before the inevitable swell at the Gate, Merchandise and Marketting. Outstanding nous by Richmond, having worked the marketing potential with their "smoke & mirrors" approach maximising media exposure. Their setablished Stars, Rising Stars will also bebefit from endorsements. Looking good Tigers, "Masterstroke!" Sheedy as a Marketing/Supporters Diplomat is as shrewd as they come. GR8 to see him back at Richmond. Enjoyed watching him play when I lived in Vic.

Re:Ben cousins a Tiger? Reply to this message
If people don't like Cousins for what he's done maybe they should have a good look in their own backyards and start disliking some family members and friends. Drug abuse is widespread across the entire globe and all walks of life, at least Cousins confessed without being detected, did the infamous group from Hawthorn named on the Channel 7 files as drug abusers confess and they were premiership players.

Did not want him, but i am starting to warm to the idea my allegiance is to my colors and anybody who wears them. If Cousins comes to tigerland he should be honoured that he gets to play with a true legend, champion and gentleman of the game and we all know who he is.

Re:Ben cousins a Tiger? Reply to this message
Since when has one been a bunch and by the way do you want to know the facts in regards to Justin Charles, I played baseball with Justin and he's the first to admit he was wrong what he did but most people were rather naive on drugs especially steroids when Justin was tested and found positive several year ago. In his time in American baseball it was a well known practice to use steroids as part of the rehab for long term injuries, the steroids build up condition and allow a person to work harder to regain their previous fitness that was lost through injury. He was ill advised and should've sought advice from the AFL before he tried this form of rehab, so keep on going and never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Re:Ben cousins a Tiger? Reply to this message
with the conditions set down by the AFL in regard to testing Ben, tigers would have to look long and hard as to whether they were prepared to risk him.
If you thought the Romans crucified the Christians , imagine what the media pariah would do to Richmond Football club if Ben was caught taking drugs. They would have a field day.
This situation should be put to the members not just left up to the football committee, let the members decide if they want Ben as part of the tiges scene.
There is time as no other club seems interested.

Re:Ben cousins a Tiger? Reply to this message
As much as benny was a dik it would be great if the AFL helped get him over to Tigerland.
If Bens career is over because he admitted drug use but never fail a test, this would be so wrong.
Drug use in the AFL will go even more undercover, just look at Andrew Johns in the rugby he got away with drug use for yonks, and only got caught out at the end of his career.
People in the public eye or not use drugs and no how to pass these tests.
