yeh, but he will be hard pressed to get a run with all those imported islanders.
heard some stats other day,
14% indigenous players
43% kiwi and islander
balance aussie born
what chance our young kids coming through.
at least raiders are thinking on good lines at the moment. |

We got good service from Jason Smith, but I doubt we would get the same from another older 5/8.
The Toyota Cup team is travelling quite well, so there are some good youngsters there.
I have hope for the future |

| sing loud, it would have put egg on the faces of management had he walked. then the raiders would have had to look for another 5/8 and would have finished up with another has been that would probably play for 2 years and retire, or burn out. |

I'm surprised that he wasn't snapped up in the meantime. I'm sure most clubs would love an up and coming 5/8. I'm sure Brisbane would be chasing him, quick smart.
I'm glad the Barrett deal didn't happen. I think his best days are behind him and Campese's best days are in front of him.
Three year deal, now. Do it Don Furner. |

what would you do if you were campo?, you get an offer which is then withdrawn because barrett puts himself on the market, and when barrett signs with sharks , the offer is put back on the table.
we dont want to lose campo because he will improve under furner, but it makes you think does it not? |

Campese would be lost at centres. Monaghan & Purtell should be centres with Phil Graham at wing.
Let's hope they get Campese signed quickly |

just wondering does any1 think Campese our answer at 5/8??
personally id rather see Dobson at half, Carney at 6 and Campese out at centre.. i dont know what Dobson's done wrong 2 not get a start but every game that ive seen him play in he's been pretty solid. but i guess Dobson wont b around next yr so maybe they just dont want 2 mess their halfs around 2 much.
and does any1 rate Best, or even Milne?? i know injuries 2 Graham and Zillman has stuffed up the team a bit, but are these the best wingers we have? i just would like 2 see the players in their best positions which would equal better performance.
id like to of seen the team like this:
1.Zillman (Good player pitty he got injured)
2.Graham (See above)
3.Campese (Has the ball skills to give Graham room)
4.Monaghan(Can break tackles and good under the high ball)
5.Purtell (Can find his way 2 the try line)
6.Carney (Has a good running game n with space.. whoknows)
7.Dobson (good kicking game and can take presure off Todd)
8.Logan (very solid player, plays hard)
9.Withers (good tough player, good D)
10.Plum (he's here coz of his D, and a few hit ups)
11.Thomson(Thomson does wat does)
12.Learoyd-Lahrs (he can run the ball hard, and if pushed out wide next 2 the centres he could b damaging)
13.Tongue (leads by example and tackles his a$$ off)
and any info if theres a good young fullback comin up through the ranks?? with Zillman goin 2 the G.C. next yr that leaves us without a no.1, and i dont think Goodwin is a fullback, even though he's doin ok he lacks some skills needed 4 that position
wat do u guys think?? |
