The nightmare continues first Wingy, we sure missed him on the weekend against the panthers, and now Luke. I would love to be the eternal optimist and say we are still in the running for the premiership. However I tend to think we are pushing s**t up hill and we are only 3 rounds into the regular season.

Luke to miss 4-6 weeks Reply to this message
South Sydney Director of Athletic Performance Errol Alcott has confirmed Issac Luke will miss up to six matches with a broken hand.

The 20-year-old hooker suffered the injury in the Rabbitohs' round three loss to the Panthers on Sunday.

"Scans have confirmed that Issac suffered a fracture to the third metacarpal on his left hand on the weekend," Alcott said.

"We will immobilize his hand and wrist in a cast and he will have bone therapy in a bid to get him back on the field as soon as possible. At this stage a conservative estimate is that Issac will be back ready to play again in four to six weeks."

The third metacarpal is the digit above the knuckle on the middle finger.

Bone therapy involves sending a low frequency signal through the bone to stimulate the healing process.

Meanwhile prop Roy Asotasi is recovering well from the concussion he suffered in the same fixture. Alcott said a decision on the Rabbitohs co-captain's availability for South Sydney's round four fixture against Manly at Brookvale Oval on Sunday will be made later this week.

"He is recovering well and did some light cardio work with us at training today," Alcott said.

"He"s progressing well and we will continue to monitor him during the week. We may wait and leave it until Saturday to make a decision on whether he is fit to play against the Sea Eagles."

Alcott said there was an unknown element to both injuries.

“Issac isn’t quite sure when how or when he did his and neither are we. It’s just a contact thing and he copped a knock and got a broken hand as a result. It’s a bit like Roy’s it wasn’t a big collision or anything like that. These are just the type of things that can happen in football.”
