Back in the old days I remember Port supporters being the most one-eyed, fanatical supporters in SANFL. What the hell has happened with the Power that so many supporters have lost that edge?
Going by PAFC's website we had over 30K ticketed members in 2009 yet we're pulling less than 20k most games. These are people who have paid for their ticket not even bothering to show up!
So they don't like the deal with AAMI - how does it even matter if you are a ticketed member? |

You do have to stick with your team no matter what, and I will. But I don't have much confidence in the current coaching panel and administration to lift us out of the mire. Williams & Co are the ones who've presided over the train wreck for the last 2 years, what reason is there to think he's the one who can turn things around?
As for Laidley, hopefully he'll be a good addition...from all reports he's a well-regarded tactician, but I'm not convinced he's senior coach material. He didn't do anything particularly impressive at the Kangaroos in my opinion. What happens in 2 years time will certainly be interesting...unfortunate ly there's likely to be a fair bit of pain between now and then. |

hello...
that's bulls.. *** (sorry to swear I'm not like that). But your perspective is wrong.
This is not about the fans/supporters, it is about the coaching techniques of a has -been who the management failed to do away with several months ago. A new coach would have establish more of a rapport with the players. I hope Port Power if it's downward trend remains, continues to loose more fans/supporters next year. That'll deliver a stern message to the hierachy who are too gutless. |

No matter who we have I'm still supporting the Power. I may not like the individuals who are messing things up but its about the overall team. I didn't become a Power supporter.
Its the fans who are dropping Port when the going is tough that is killing them financially. |

hello...
I wont be supporting Port next season until Port management gets rid of Williams and possibly some of themselves. They're just incompetent and in need of a new coach who would have more rapport with the players. |

Who knows? Its pretty obvious we won't be making a serious run at the premiership anytime soon. Now his brother has retired he think he stands a better chance elsewhere? Could be chasing money?
Its rotten when your best player has decided to walk, especially when its obvious we aren't healthy financially right now.
I've heard the drop in members is from a few causes - dislike of decisions at the top, situation with AAMI stadium, Choko as coach... Burgoyne is the first rat to desert the leaky ship.
Laidley has signed on and I think he will be the coach 'groomed' to take over from Choko. That could be what we need for future success. |

Just when we thought things couldn't get much worse, Burgoyne walks out.
Does anyone know (as opposed to baseless speculation) what the hell is going on at Port? It seems to have a been a drawn out train wreck for the last 2 years. Why have things gone so far off the rails? I'm furious at the powers-that-be for allowing things to degenerate to the extent they have.
As for Burgoyne...so much for knuckling down with your teammates and working to lift the club back up again. I don't know what his problem is, but it appears he's all about the individual and not the team. I'd like to hear how he informed his teammates about this, if he had the guts to face them at all. Port aren't in a position to do it, but it would almost be worth refusing to deal with other clubs and leeting him get picked up by Melbourne, rather than letting the grub dictate to them.
Not happy!! |
