We might get a second crack with Carr possibly coming back.
I prefer to call what you call mongrels 'enforcers'. Every team needs a couple. |

no one is allowed to be a mongrel anymore.
if you are you will get reported and suspended for "nothing"
dont forget, as apes evolved into man, footy is evolving into netball.
and no wise cracks about me not yet evolving either--lol. |

Losing Phil Walsh after he was demoted was the killer. The rest of the coaches and support staff named are/were replaceable.
Even worse for Port is on the playing side. Not replacing hard nuts Hardwick, Pickett and Carr would be too much for any club. There's no mongrels at Port anymore that can look after pretty boys like S Burgoyne, Pearce and the like. Only C Cornes could be close to those three mentioned but he only seems to be able to pull it out against the Crows. Brogan gets angry but he's not around the ball enough (sounds silly him being a ruckman but it's not like Carr or Hardwick in your face all the time or just waiting for Pickett to come off half back to make you shyet yourself).
You might ask me where the Crows mongrels are and all I can say is dont ask. lol |

I actually agree with siradrian.
They were talented and we had a good run with them. Only fair another club gets a good run with them too. |

In other words southern
those you mentioned were already talented before ending up at Port which is why Port employed them in the first place.

Freedirt summed it up best
as for you southerncross stop making excuses
how many of these you mentioned were true port people?
they were only employed by port and they came from all different places but were smart enough to see the writing on the wall and GOT OUT. |

The days are gone when people will come and watch regardless (aside from a shrinking number of diehards). Obviously many have dropped off in disgust at the garbage Port has served up this year.
As for next year, they should improve but it won't just happen, there needs to be some common sense changes made. I'm less confident of Williams' coaching these days, he seems unable to instill the work ethic and discipline needed - these are the things so badly lacking in this team. |

Well we ended up 7-15 and finished 13th in our worst season ever.
I can see some potential as our midfield and forward line is developing well but our weakness is still in defense. We have had some development in defense but it might be time to recruit or draft a defender or two to make us a finals contender again.
If we don't improve our finish at the very least next year there is something very wrong. Our goal should be to play finals and accept nothing less!
And come on Port supporters - where have you been? So we've been down - we have to take the good with the bad and stay loyal! |
