| I can't watch it for too long or I'd go bananas but it seems they're saving a lot of money by televising about a third of what they should be showing us, and fleshing it out with replays and the other rubbish. Must have thought we'd be stupid enough to fall for it. |

Anyone know what we're supposed to be getting tonight between the ads and montages and replays? Oh, sorry, also the interviews -- gosh, not much time left for anything else.
_________________________ ______________
Who knows?
1 minute slo-mo fade out to ads, then a 1 minute fade in when we return from ads.
All the montages are of bl00dy yanks or jamaicans. We don't need this garbage. What revenue do they make from this intrusion to watching actual live coverage?
Just unbelievably pitiful rubbish dished up bh ch7. |

This thread needs to be brought back to page 1. Why?
Because the coverage is still abysmal. |

i just don't understand why the commentators aren't mentioning "leyton hewett" anymore?
c'mon guys - even though he is out of the olympics - you can still mention him or his "c'mons" at least 10 times an hour. |

Yes, there is no excuse for this, even though last night's coverage of the track was better; and even though it was just about the first time in 2 weeks they've done that.
Events like the pole vault, javelin, long jump, high jump, triple jump, javelin and throwing events are Olympic classics. The define 'the Olympics'. The high jump and javelin comps, for example, are also highly entertaining.
I would suggest there has been a deliberate decision not to cover field sports and to limit track. There has been plenty of time to show some of these events, even if not live. They've wasted everyone's time with endless trivia and repeats -- and the time-consuming team sports.
Some smarmy beancounter at 7 has decided that we should watch gymnastics for three nights -- even when we didn't have a competitor -- probably because of better demographic targetting for advertising.
The whole thing is a debacle, and I'll be attempting to get a question asked in the House of Representatives -- even if to try to ensure it doesn't happen next time. |

| Just commenting on the lack of "field" events; I was watching the coverage one night and they advertised women's javelin and we only got a 30 second montage of the event and about ten seconds was in slow motion. We should expect even coverage of both track and field. Some of us like to watch field events even though there are no Australians competing. And while I am at it, I noticed that they replayed some gold and silver Australian events four times in one day. Surely that time would be better spent covering diverse events in the 'birds nest'. Here is a thought; instead of screening 'Yum Cha' why couldn't they have prerecorded more events and showed them at that time and as well as that couldn't they have suspended the children's show 'Raggs' for two weeks? That would have given us an extra 1/2 hour in the morning. |

| Stayed up til 2am hoping to see a bit of the men's triple jump final or women's javelin final. Did 7 show anything at all that I missed on a quick trip to the loo? Managed to see one jump in the distance on the giant video screen (and hear the crowd "Ooooh") during the running of one of the relay heats. Gets I should be thankful for that?? |

larsch the prime minister is a politician, therefore will do nothing. What I think is very noticeable is the tedious repetition of events where Australians are expected to win medals and the ignoring of events where Australia is not competing, which is the approach taken by the networks in Planet America. SBS is covering many events obviously deemed to be beneath 7's dignity laughable in it self.
How long are we going to have to listen to the nasal (Pauline Hanson)twang of Joanna Griggs ? Get that yobbo off and keep her off. |

What a disaster. The Olympic Games was born of track and field events and we have had virtually no live coverage and meagre replay coverage.
I can't imagine how Channel 7 could produce a worse coverage.
They should not get away with it. Here are the contact details for the Prime Minister, the Minister for Communications and Digital Economy, and Sport. Contact them and let them know how you feel.

| She made the finals? Wow cool. Now the tv can go off. Well of course it's not live...ch7 have to know if she made the finals first. If she didn't then they sweep it under the rug. Nothing to see here... |

Constant ads and edited, delayed events (except the swimming) describes 7's coverage in a nutshell.
Yesterday I was listening to the women's water polo live on ABC. The ABC commentators are more enthusiastic than most channel 7 commentators so I thought I'd watch it with the TV sound off. Lo and behold it was more than 2 minutes behind on the TV, and when they went off to (the many) ads they would come back to it and two minutes had been cut off the "coverage" even though it wasnt live anyway.
Then the womens diving today. ABC had already covered live Melissa Wu's last couple of dives and reported her making the finals. A few hours later I go out and turn on the tv and the diving pops on. Of course they only show a few minutes before going to an ad break and they only show the 2nd to last round and try to pass it off as if it was happening live. Shook my head and turned off the telly.
Glad 9 and foxtel are getting the london olympics! |

| Well, I know at least two viewres who were more than happy with the coverage 7 gave both games. If they'd delayed the telecast of the b/ball to play it in its entirety then I wouldn't have got to see us get three girls through to the semis of the 10m platform diving. |

i would rather 7 have delayed the basketball and shown it in its entirety than butcher it up as they did.
so then the softball and basketball nuts could both be happy.
but instead 7 did what it does best, piss off its viewers |
