UNBELIEVABLE! How could we miss out on Aust playing Russia, and finally playing well to have the 'enjoyment' of watching the two worst AFL teams!!! What is the point of having HD channels and showing nothing on them? At least show the olympics on one and whatever rubbish channel 7 wants to play on the other....this really is the worst coverage ever! Pathetic station.

Indeed. I do wonder though were this Bomers team has been. Um I know the answer to that. IMO they didn't show up because their coach is a hack. The players were being lazy. They've finally realised that they play well now, with intensity or go home. Glad to see they decided to play then pack their bags.

Re:worst coverage ever of any olympics Reply to this message
It's always going to be hard, with one channel, to properly cover any team sports at the Games. Indeed, the only Australian team that has recieved good coverage on 7 has been the Olyroos. However, the first game was on before the Olympics, of course!

I am a football fan, and as good as it was to see the whole game, I was still surprised by that.

But it will be difficult. By the sounds of the TV down the hall they're giving the Boomers' game a run. I'm not into basketball, but I think the fans of the sport should be able to, at the very least, see the Australians play! Especially in this crucial game!

Re:worst coverage ever of any olympics Reply to this message
well they should've done some market research on the most popular sports.

i find it hard to believe more people want to watch Hockey than either Basketball or Soccer.

what i have learnt is those Equestrian nutters probably need their own channel.

Re:worst coverage ever of any olympics Reply to this message
hey, millions..
but remember they get 1 channel ONLY (i mean for 7!!)
I totally feel upset they don't put it in live stream... they can do it.. but just 1 per game?

that mean they should technology to do it, but didn't do it...

But I think you can't blame they couldn't show all sports..
everyone loves different sports
if they are trying to change and deal with them better way...
then... give them some chances

I don't agree a lot of things that what channel 7 is doing this year.. but you can't put everything you want in your way.

sushiboy, I guess it could be worse. Imagine if Packed to the rafters just was nothing but a super slow motion montage of people going about their daily lives with some corny soundtrack over it?

point taken.

i hope they stay with the B-ball.

but its almost torture watching anything you care about, because you feel they'll cut the coverage at any moment.

I don't really want to think about the ideas of John Howard, Fantasy and Soap in the same thought.
Especially if you also throw George Bush into the mix.

Re: Packed to the rafters

A new "acclaimed television series", by their reckoning. It's going to win the Logies next year, with all the main "stars" taking out the Gold Logie.

It's not just about the swimming. The games is a collection of many other events.

The comment about slow motion replays of nothing. I timed it, 10 minutes long. Then they show some interview with the walker, who finished his race, then some slow motion of his race.

In the mean time, other events continue.

WTF is this Packed to the Rafters they keep on advertising?

the "Rafter family" is that a joke?
_________________________ ____________

Nah, it's all about finding a cliche, then naming the subject family after the key word in that cliche. It's oh so clever!

<<When has there been no coverage on an Australian winning a medal? I have seen all the coverage of the medal winners performances.>>

Of course you haven't. Maybe missed the point?
Some have criticised 7 for showing swimming over something else not withstanding they are finals with an Australian. Of course if the Australian happened to medal whilst showing the other thing we'd never hear the end of it.

Re: who should be the broiadcaster. Personally i think the ABC should be. It's peoples taxes that funded alot of the being in Beijing to begin with. It seems only right to me that those same people shoulg get to see what the tax dollars paid for free of charge. And they should get a decemt coverage. 7, a a commercial broadcaster, is showin that a commercial broadcaster cant or won't fulfil both requirements.
