No. And people should not compared the BBC Olympics Coverage to Austrlaian Networks Coverage.
BBC coverage is not free - you pay an annual licensing fee of $200 bucks. |

| Your not going to get any different from Nine or Foxtel. All networks do it. It's just part of the hook. |

yes, I agree
So I don't say silly things as we don't have full coverage...
just similar as what I watched last night in basketball when the US vs Spain....
No complain for that situation as they got some athletic games in the final...
That basketball game was only a game in group stage.. they should let the games in athletic to start first.
No doubt about it.
They did better job yesterday, but I believe they can do it better as what I mention about the ads problems. Cos I think that's easy job for them as they can do it better. As they tried to put less ads in 2 period of time within 5 mins, but I believe they forgot 1 thing, there'd be 3mins timeout during the game
Again, don't be stupid, this is free-to-air channel, and we are not in UK, we can't compare TV stations like BBC. |

Heh, heh -- yes but, no but, yes but . . . there is no reason to spin things. That 'very, very soon comment' was deliberately manipulative -- even though they had advertised the swimming schedule earlier.
And there would be no reason not to provide an estimated scheduled time for the 100m last night. First they advertised the 100m early in the night -- then later included the semi-finals; then when eventually they did show the semis -- broken up with ads BTW -- there was still no mention of the estimated time for the 100 metres.
There is no excuse for that . . . it's plainly manipulative. And I understand perfectly well that schedules change.
The 'spin' is all designed to 'capture' people for lengthy periods and to thwart people who just want to tune in and watch certain events. And that's about selling ad space. |

Seriously people buy a clue.
Of course Seven is going to say its coming very shortly. It's because they cannot get a fixed time from people scheduling the events. As delays tend to happen. The cycling programme last night was way behind schedule. Programming schedules are always ever only a guide.Things happen that Seven has no control over whatsoever. |

What a lot of hogswash. They told you EXACTLY what time Grant Hackett would be swimming 12pm today.
Also regarding the 100m Channel 7 were at the mercy of the what was happening in the Birds Nest i.e the sheduling people at Track and Field. Are people on this forum really this dense? |

So Grant is going to swim "very, very soon". That statement was made at around 9AM.
Yeah, like the 100m final at the track was "not far away" last night. No times given last night of course. We are not dumb channel 7.
. . . carpetbaggers! |

And what's wrong again?
They got good for broadcasting in afternoon game as Australia vs Russia
What's wrong tonight???
Putting Ads in wrong time?
They got 3 mins time out and don't put ads in there, rather putting ads during the game...
what's wrong?
4 ads in total, 2 mins, and in that case, they block 2 mins of the game...
Yes, the game was already blowing out in that stage...
But I believe Channel 7 should handle this much better than what'd be happened tonight
What'd be happened if the game is really tight?? |

Just as after I wrote that they showed the Last event.
1 out of 7, that about sums up sevens efforts. |

| I wonder if they realise how much more of the actual olympics we could see with less midless chatter from presenters in the studio, montages of people doing well or stuffing up and less trying to sell memorabilia - might even have seen the 3m springboard mostly live...its already finished and they've only showed 1/3 of the fields first dives....this just sux |

I met Jarrad Tallent - who ended up winning Bronze in the men's 20km today and I had been planning to watch it today at 11. So I'm waiting on Seven and suprised and impressed that they have actually been bothered to cover it, about 5 minutes in they go to an add break and another event! About 90 mins later they go back to the 20km race for the first time and you see them walking into the stadium; about 20 seconds later, the race is over.
Pathetic.
Once again. |

| The only problem with tht "montage" was that it should have been kept to show just befoe the relay to break Spitz's record. It's a great story. He's going to do something that's going to stand a long time. |

They showed the medal presentation for the walker like 2 mins after it happened. Not sure about the cycling stuff. I was watching women's javellin on an indian tv station and they had to halt it for the russian anthem.
This mens semi final was run about 15-20 mins ago. |

| I can see they are trying today / tonight. With some events they are showing them anywhere between 3 and 15-20 mins after they happen. I'm prepared to say today has been the best coverage by far. |

| Didn't think the coverage could be worse than Athens but Channel 7 has managed it. It's actually making the whole watching experience boring instead of what should be interesting and exciting. Given that just about nothing is live, how can anyone be interested? They just delayed the 100 metres men's semi finals athletics. Good grief, this is pathetic. |

I just put this on another thread, from a British site, to show us what we are missing:
"Within the BBC broadcast you can hit the red button on your remote and select from about 4 or 5 sports plus a constant highlight package of the day, so if you're not into the diving they're showing on the main feed you can switch to the badminton stadium, or the boxing ring or whatever. Obviously a choice of 4 or 5 sports doesn't cover the full spectrum, but it's a lot better than no choice at all." |

Where is the blinkng athletics? Has it even started, I haven't seen any this afternoon (from 4pm onwards)?
I was out for most of the day but still managed to see Phelps twice which is far more than I can stomach. Is that all the Olympics are about one yankee?
At least 7 have showed the rowing/sculls - well done 7, my first thumbs up so far. |
