One of those golds is sailing and it's being won by an Aussie pair. Yet there has been virtually ZERO coverage of sailing. Maybe Channel 7 doesn't understand the sport. Or Qingdao the sailing venue is too inconvenient for them.
In one event the Aussie men have an unassailable lead and while the penultimate race takes place tomorrow, they can't be beaten. Check this out:

| I think that there are supposed to be 37 gold medals decided today but personally I'm hoping they spend the afternoon showing replays of last evening's rowing. I reckon about three replays of each race would suffice, with another two in slow motion with some pop music |

Do you think they've caught the spirit of China - allowed to show only things that put us in a good light?
Look at the program for this arvo -- only finals of athletics events. Guess what we'll see in between, folks?? |

They do know that it's not a taboo to show an event no involving Australians? I expect this sort of one sides coverage by North Korea's national broadcaster but not here.
Also what is their fascination with all these friggin montages? |

Your not going to get any different from Nine or Foxtel
* * * * * * *
WRONG!
Come 2012 you will see what these games couldve been like.
Sure, channel 9's coverage will be similarly bad to 7's but foxtel will provide multiple channels. We will have choice. And for that I'm prepared to pay. |

And people should not compared the BBC Olympics Coverage to Austrlaian Networks Coverage.
BBC coverage is not free - you pay an annual licensing fee of $200 bucks.
* * * ** * * ** * ** * **
WHY Shouldnt we compare what we get to what the BBC show???
I think we deserve a similar quality to everyone else is able to get.
Just because we dont pay a license fee we are therefore subjected to awful sub-standard coverage?.
In Britain they pay a license fee for quality coverage.
In Australia we pay with our sanity for having to endure 7's poor excuse for coverage. |

| Channel 7 you are only embarrassing yourself. Nobody in NSW cares about the AFL between Carlton and North Melbourne. Australia are playing Russia in basketball not to mention all the other sports. Are you IDIOTS? I will be so glad to see the olympics on nine next time. If there was an olympic category for worst broadcaster you would win. |

| brightlon22, compassion is fine but let's not get carried away -- Channel 7 has had several years to plan this coverage but they certainly haven't taken advantage of that preparation time. |

for diving events and athletics.
Yes, they could do it better as the encore could say it during in the program, for example, they can say the final round will be showing after 1st quarter of the basketball match.
But please, understand it other people may like to see other events and they get really annoying if things are jumping around as they don't know what'd be happened.
Why basketball fans were so upset for the games between US and Greece.. this is the reason..
Other events came in, and blocked the game and viewers couldn't know what'd be happened next.
Things couldn't be prefect and fit everyone.
But at least, they are trying... we should say some good suggestion to them, to help them to solve the problems, rather than we just smash them.
They are really under pressure now as so many complains. Most of our complains, there'd be no solution in there. There'd be letting them to get more frustration.
Think about if you were 1 of them
Anyway, need to goto church definitely, good luck and let's hope we can have some good time today as watching Olympics together. |

>>Your not going to get any different from Nine or Foxtel. All networks do it. It's just part of the hook.<<
I understand that perfectly well. I have no problem with free to air, or even cable, and advertising support.
What I do object to is dishonesty and manipulation. Tell us when things are scheduled, don't manipulate -- like dividing up the 100m semi-final replays with ads last night -- and for goodness sake have some respect for the viewing audience and your own corporate identity.
The coverage of track in field, in general, yesterday is another matter. |

plus, remember the directing is really hard to deal things now, for example, they signed ads contracts ages..
Pls understand their difficulties, Yes they should not sign that much ads..
But they are trying to solve problems and try to put it in better way... |

agree!
But 1 thing I may suggest (another TV channels) can do it
in some moment, as a lot of people dislike to put ads in there(i.e. opening ceremony/closing ceremony)
they can put ads in subtitles to row around during these events
or putting some ads in left hand corners (using about 1/4 of screen)
there could be better.
as you know my background is, there'd be similar situation in my hometown, HK, 2 free-to-air channels, owned by private companies to broadcast Olympics but they can handle this much better, putting ads into right time. |

Australians can have the same with the ABC. But they need to learn that if they want coverage like that they must either:
1. Pay more taxes
2. Pay for a package to help off set the costs associated with buying the rights.
The ads off set the costs Seven have for purchasing the rights, having a team on the ground and other associated costs with running the Olympics.
You pay for what you get. Since no one is paying for the coverage in terms of $$$ I can't see what they would be complaining about. Sure there are a lot of ads. But so what. |

yes, another thing is
BBC is owned by government
Channel 7 is owned by private.
We can't blame there'd be Ads for TV channels at all. they need to earn money to pay this Olympics...
I am just getting some questioning about the ads time (I mean, they can put things in better way) |

| On the official website, it was clearly stated that the 100M Final was going to happen at 22:30 BJ time. Why didn't Ch 7 just give us the scheduled time to make life easier? |

| I thought Seven did a much better job yesterday. There was so much sports on. So many events happening and it must be hard to keep the flock happy all the time. |
